What surely must be one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. Small but well worth a visit.
It is a old library built when Rio was the capital of the Portuguese Empire. It is built on a gothic-manuelin style, the interior makes Hogwarts library seems like simple. Worth a visit!
It is the oldest association established by the Portuguese in Brazil after independence in 1822. Its headquarters, built in Neo-Manueline, it was inaugurated by Princess Isabel in 1887 and holds about 350,000 volumes (thousands of rare books).
The library started forming in 1830s and moved to its current location in 1887. The architecture is amazingly beautiful!
