The forest was planted to 'suck up' (choupar) flood waters from the River Mondego. It is a beautiful place to stroll in rain or shine, and there is a kiosk from which to buy drinks and snacks.
Plenty of trails for walking, jogging, biking. It's just 15 minutes walk from the downtown.
Historic poplar forest turned recreation area, with extensive trails for walking, running & cycling. 30 mins drive from Ponte Da Mucela.
Largest public park in the city of Coimbra; quite literally the lungs of the city. Good walking & biking tracks, gorgeous trees, riding stables near by. Cafe.
