Peoponi is a stunning boutique hotel in Shela. It is located at the seafront and is a great place for sundowners and dinner. The food we had at Peponi Hotel was always outstanding! Like Lamu House Hotel, it is one of the places that is great for a special evening out.

Naturally, the bar at a Swiss-owned Kenyan hotel with an Italian name has to resemble an English pub. Pretty much everyone on Shela finds their way to the sunset-watching terrace to happily drift into insolvency over a pricey but expertly mixed sundowner or three.

Peponi’s definitely delivers island-style hip in spades. Sit back and imbibe alongside an eclectic bunch of people from Hollywood directors to notorious Shela beach boys, with a cooling onshore breeze making it the perfect spot for an aperitif.
