Why locals recommend it
Every Thursday, the museum stays open late for NightLife, which is an awesome way to see the place without swarms of kids running around. Sip on cocktails while gazing at jellyfish, an albino alligator, and other creatures in the aquarium. Arrive early to score planetarium tickets, and don’t miss the rainforest housed inside a 90-foot glass dome. Don’t be afraid to wear fancy threads to this. Check the website for that week’s theme, because the museum goes all out with decor and drinks to match.

The Cal Academy natural history museum is a great place to visit and has a variety of exhibits as well as a rain forest, planetarium, and rooftop garden.
The world’s only aquarium-planetarium-rainforest-living museum. Come nose-to-beak with penguins and parrots, watch sharks and sting rays cruise beneath your feet, and feel the spray of the California coast
Everything you'd expect in a natural history museum plus an aquarium, rainforest and planetarium. Good food options.
Amazing rain forest, aquarium and planetarium. This was one of our favorite places to visit when our kids were little.
