An overnight trip rich in history and you discover a town that time let stand still. 90% of US copper was mined here during and post Civil War until things began slowing after the big strike led by Big Annie and the union. The miners lost, broken by thug strike breakers imported by the mine owners. The Italian House fire killing dozens of miner children pre Christmas, thought to be set by the thugs. Tour a mine. See Houghton and Hancock on the river.
