Just across the canal you’ll find the literary jazz café De Engelbewaarder (Guardian Angel). Its packed with Amsterdam people who enjoy it’s authentic ambiance and free jazz on Sunday afternoons. Go grab a beer there and enjoy it anytime.

Name of the place is De Engelbewaarder (dont know why it says the Garden here in the title). Oldest literary cafe in the country. Attracts a mixed crowd of old and young people. Floating terrace. Jazz on sunday afternoon. You can have your morning coffee here, or an afternoon beer, or a nice dinner.
