Discovered in 1885 by Walter J. Mercer. There are a total of 440 steps, 208 down into the caverns and 232 up out of the caverns. It is worth EVERY step. Don't miss the world famous and rare Aragonite flos ferri that won them a Grand Prize at the 1900 Paris World Exposition.
