Tips from locals
Located in the city of Custer, it is on the expensive side and would recommend for adults only. It has unique menu and excellent food. Most of the food is not friendly to kids' palates. It is not a chain restaurant, expect slower service. *Note, many restaurants close in the late fall and winter…
The food is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxing. Shopping is all around with 'A Walk In The Woods' a special destination for those special items on your list.
The Sage Creek Grille was opened by Nancy Gellerman in 1999 and has been serving sustainable, local when possible, and always delicious meals ever since. Definitely worth a visit for lunch or dinner!

“Be sure to check out their website to see if you are lucky enough to catch a show in this historic playhouse in the middle of Custer State Park. You will need a park pass for your vehicle to attend but arrive early and walk around Center Lake nearby or bring a picnic lunch and eat in the covered shelter before the show! Cell service can be dicey in this area so be prepared to go "off the grid".”

“Medium level hike due to multiple stream crossings and unstable footing. Best to go late May through early September. Slide the waterfall slide if you dare! Be advised the Canyon gets cold, the water is very chilly. 11am-2pm best times. Do not attempt to keep your shoes dry, most injuries occur because of this.”
