The park opens at 8:00 am. I suggest going early if you plan to walk the trail. Take water and a snack. There is a pavilion at the halfway point where you can sit, enjoy the views, and a snack. The trail does not make a full circle, so you’ll either need to turn back or at the end of the trail you can walk through the pines to the road where you can walk or taxi back to town. I suggest ending your walk with lunch overlooking the lake. Not into hiking? Consider the cruise around the lake. The museum, and the monuments are also worth a visit.
