A basilica may seem an odd spot for Culture but this is St. John's. Don't miss a trip to this wonderful grand church. They have a museum with special events, and if you can catch Paul Rowe's Fleming, this short play is wonderful. It plays at 1 pm in August but check at the Cathedral for details.

A Roman Catholic Cathedral opened in 1855. A stunning example of art and architecture.

A Roman Catholic Cathedral, one of the oldest buildings in St John's. Built of stone, the architectural design is awe inspiring, the stained glass windows are a wonder to behold and makes the inside breathtakingly beautiful. The artwork is also unbelievably awesome.

Check out the Rooms while you are in the area. The Rooms on Bonaventure Ave corner Merrymeeting road. The Rooms house the Provincial Art Gallery, Archives and the Newfoundland Museum. They have a great restaurant with a amazing view of the city.

Beautiful Basilica perched atop the city and overlooking the harbour. Construction lasted from 1839 to 1855, and at the time was the largest construction project in the history of Newfoundland.
