Harlech Castle, located in Harlech, Gwynedd, Wales, is a Grade I-listed medieval fortification, constructed atop a spur of rock close to the Irish Sea. It was built by Edward I during his invasion of Wales between 1282 and 1289 at the relatively modest cost of £8,190.
Harlech Castle is a short drive from Arianfryn Lodge and has an excellent visitors center and cafe - I recommend their scones with clotted cream!
Only a few miles away, Harlech castle and beach is my favourite place to watch the sunset or sunrise. It also has the best Italian ice cream parlour I’ve ever been to.
You must visit the very pleasant village of Harlech during your stay and definitely make time to have a good look at Harlech Castle ...you won’t be disappointed and the views from the Castle and their new visitor centre cafe are breathtaking .
