Enjoy a drink on the rooftop bar with stunning views of Corio Bay and the You Yangs. Head downstairs for delicious food and nibbles. A cocktail on the second level by the fire is a must!

The foundation for Sailors’ Rest was laid on the 3rd of February 1912 by the acting premier the Hon. John Murray as a memorial for King Edward VII. The building was originally titled the King Edward VII Sailors’ Rest. The main design is attributed to famed architect Percy Edgar Everett and is architecturally noted for its nautical art nouveau ornamentation. Sailors’ Rest was completed in 1913, providing accommodation, company and entertainment for sailors. Run by an evangelical organisation, it was considered a safe haven from the temptations of alcohol and gambling. To this day, we still operate the original electric light-bulb sign that was installed in 1926 and is reportedly the oldest remaining electric sign in Victoria. The sign was heritage-listed in 2014 and our illuminated letters have become a beloved Geelong beacon.

Recently renovated and kid friendly, has a good variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The mussels are excellent. Views are great with open air seating and a rooftop space with great views.
