Rose St, the narrow lane sandwiched between Princess St and George St is famous for its pubs and a favourite Edinburgh pub crawl is trying to walk the length of Rose St having a drink in each pub. Start at Dirty Dick's 20 mins walk from the flat. It's been a pub since 1859 once your eyes adjust to the dim candlelight you'll see every part of the walls and ceiling are crammed with curious artefacts. It's as if it's been added to over the past 150 years and nothing ever removed. From dusty old Dickensian paintings to bedpans, aged whisky bottles and even a witch mounted on her broomstick. More like a museum or old curiosity shop you will discover something new every time you come.
