Tips from locals
Walk across the stepping stones or footbridge to the local inn. A traditional Cumbrian pub, independently run with a good selection of home cooked food and ales. Great fell views from the garden.
This pub is in the neighbouring Duddon Valley. It's under new management this year (2021). It's in a lovely setting and is a favourite for many regular holidaymakers. The valley is lovely and quieter than some others. Wordsworth wrote a beautiful sonnet about the Duddon River, and there is a lovely trail alongside it through the gorge, from Wallabarrow farm.
