This is a lovely trek which takes between 3-3.30 hours each way so 6-7 hours in total. After passing through the rice fields you move into the forest following and crossing the stream multiple time before ending up at Mae Yen Waterfall. A guide isn't strictly necessary for this hike but you should be fit with trekking experience and be prepared with food and water and set off early. You want footwear with grip that can get wet as you go in and out the stream many times.
