Bective Abbey is a Cistercian abbey on the River Boyne in Bective, founded by Murchad O'Maeil-Sheachlainn in 1147 as a 'daughter house' of Mellifont Abbey & is in remarkable state of preservation. .

Bective Abbey was founded in 1147. Hugh De Lacey was buried there in 1195, but was eventually moved to Dublin. The chief features of the ruins are the combination of both the church and defense.
