Newly renovated original Whataroa Settlement house, 25 minutes drive to Franz Joself Glacier. A private and spacious house with lots of lawn space and a dairy farm outlook, right in the Whataroa Village. A welcoming space for you to relax after a big day exploring the glaciers.
“The property was absolutely clean. We found a large house with a large garden and a very large living / kitchen area. The equipment was great: huge fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Large TV with internet connection (Netflix, etc.). Not too far from the Franz Josef Glacier. Nice view from the house of the surrounding mountains. We felt very comfortable! Our host was always there for us when we brought her (where is the nearest butcher, which tours do you do in which weather ...) and helped us extremely warmly. Absolutely great experience and highly recommended.”
Welcome to my home situated on the corner of Roberts and Murray Sts Whataroa. It is an original 1973 home. Built from native timbers. Plenty of character 30 minutes scenic drive from Franz Josef. Unless you are going to use the kitchen to cook please plan to eat before you arrive. There is nowhere suitable to dine in Whataroa. I work in Franz Josef and finish at 6.30pm.
“Lovely place to stay. Cosy, clean and hospitable. Joan is a great, friendly host. Pleasure to be around. Two little gogs was a delightful addition. Fully reccommending. Even though you need a vehicle to drive there, but it worth it. Good value for money. Nina”

“Great spot in a beautiful and peaceful country setting away from the crowds but conveniently located close to the glaciers with plenty of excellent walks nearby. Marg and Andy are wonderful hosts, eager to make you feel at home, welcoming you with fresh baked cookies and continental breakfast ingredients! I hope to make it back to go fishing with Andy one day! :-)”
