About me

Textile designer and art instructor
Hello! I am a practicing textile designer and maker. I have a studio at the Chocolate Factory, a hidden gem in Hackney. It’s a mixture of Victorian charm and modern architecture and I’ve been part of this wonderful community of artists for 30 years. My work has sold in many London design stores and independent retailers throughout the UK. I love to share my colourful studio space with others and I’m always keen to teach people of all ages to learn the art of screen printing and have fun.

What to bring

You are welcome to bring any visuals with you to inspire your paper cutting. Explore Matisse style cut outs, black and white vector art, simple silhouettes and basic shapes. Avoid fine lines and photographs. Don't worry if you come without anything as I have plenty to inspire you at the studio but do get in touch if there is a particular theme you'd like to explore and I'll be happy to help. Printing can be a messy business with the occasional splatter of ink. I do have aprons but please consider wearing clothing you don't mind getting ink on, just in case (avoid white trainers/new shoes!) Using paper stencils, we’ll be printing a sample onto fabric to begin with followed by printing a final design onto either a tote bag or tea towel. If you’d prefer to bring along an item of clothing to print on to, such as a t-shirt, please make sure it’s cotton and white or light coloured. Any questions, just ask!
