A bird watching haven - egrets, swans, geese, avocets, osprey, European roller (2023) and this year ... a sea eagle! Masses of walking trails and cycling.

The Old Smithy is set is a secluded valley on the river Tavy. It is a mile from the nearest road, down a private track through beautiful moorland and woodland. It's an ideal base for walking, cycling wild swimming and getting away from it all, a true nature lovers paradise! We live in a house on the same site so will be on hand for any advice or assistance. We are on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and an hour's drive from numerous beaches. The thriving town of Tavsitock is 7 miles away.

A very special place to stay on the Bere Peninsula, Devon. This refurbished traditional slate-hung 'one-up-one-down' former silver miner's cottage was built in the 1800s. Set in the Tamar Valley National Landscape and Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, with views of Cornwall and shared use of our garden. Full self-catering or you can book breakfast and/or evening meals made by Martin, a professional chef. Self-contained annexe with own private entrance.

There is much to explore from the doorstep, including the village's three charming pubs and Warleigh Point nature reserve. Perfectly situated between Dartmoor and Devon and Cornwall's beautiful beaches, Apple Orchard is the perfect place from which to explore. A delight for walkers, runners, cyclists, swimmers, divers, surfers, wind surfers, kayakers & paddle boarders alike.

The local town, Yelverton, is a few minutes drive and has a good butcher, Co-op, Post Office, pubs and more!
