A newly renovated private lodging with a Japanese modern bedroom and a user-friendly system kitchen, while retaining the good old features of the old private house. You can cook in the kitchen, and you can also have a BBQ on the terrace. We also have a wood-fired bath, so you can enjoy a relaxing bath time while being soothed by the scent of aromatic essences. The bedrooms are decorated with carefully selected natural materials such as plaster, natural wood and natural oils.The material itself controls humidity, and the air is always kept at the optimum humidity.I hope you can soothe your daily fatigue while being enveloped in the warmth of the wood.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. We have renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas to make your stay more comfortable while still retaining the charm of the townhouse, such as the low ceilings and narrow, steep stairs.
