Idyllic Irish hideaway 10 miles from Sligo

DeirdreRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Lovely spacious house a stone’s throw from Dromahair village. The local Centra is about 2 mins walk and there’s a really nice traditional pub named Stanford’s just up the road too. The house itself has a lovely bright kitchen and a really comfy living room with an L-shaped couch and an open fire. Super cosy & homely and a great base from which to explore Sligo. Conor is a great host and responded promptly to any messages. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!

Historical country home/garden with alpaca farm.

AislingRating, 5 stars7 months ago
The premise of our trip to Ireland this time, was to show our kids the beauty of the island and the area I grew up in , while also getting away from it all. We arrived to Knockvicar house after a week on the Wild Atlantic Way and it was an absolute pleasure from the first moment. The house is spacious and comfortable and so interesting. The gardens and surrounding area are just beautiful. Morning coffee @ the outdoor table was a real treat. It’s in a great location near to Carrick-on-Shannon, Boyle, Lough Key forest park and also the alpaca farm, of course. Restaurants and bars nearby. Our only regret is that we didn’t book for longer. Angela was the perfect hostess, helpful and informative and thoughtful. There is plenty of touristic information supplied at the house also. We had a wonderful stay.

Farmhouse in a picturesque location!

JonRating, 5 stars7 months ago
we spent a week at the house. it was home from home and had everything as described and we were very comfortable in the house. Liam was very helpful and location was perfect for us. 30 minutes from either big town, Sligo and Carrick where the family was. Near fantastic beauty spots of strandhill, knock area, benbulben, caves of keash, aringa mines, rosses point, the list goes on. we were over for a wedding at Kilronan castle which was less than 10 minutes down the road. Paddy's pub was a 15 minute walk, with a fine pint of Guinness. House had everything we needed and enough space fur a family of 6. The Danny the donkey in the back garden was popular with the kids. 100% would recommend and was terrific value for money. many thanks to Liam. cheers Jon and Family

This is a great little house in the village of Keadue, that's been renovated very nicely. Alan was a great host, who was very responsive and lit a fire for us for our arrival. The place is clean and was very comfortable for our family of 4.

Irish Country Village Home

DiRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Conor's house is just awesome. Loved staying there from the cosy sitting/TV room, to the bright open kitchen/dining areas and the wonderful bedrooms. The beds we used were super comfortable and the linen was high quality and felt so nice. Conor is an amazing host who is very kind. Not only did he meet, he also left some food for us - sausages, bacon, eggs, milk, bread etc. Just wonderful. His mum is also super nice. You need a car. There is only one place to eat - O'Dowds pub (100 metres approx. away) however only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday from lunchtime to 6 pm. Ballaghadareen is about 15 mins away with more options.

rough & ready cottage stay

RobertRating, 5 stars31 months ago
I really loved staying this place. It is super-cosy, rustic and quaint. If you're looking to get away from the noise of the city, this place is it. MK's ethos too is commendable. She believes that people should have to opportunity to travel anywhere, and not have to pay an arm and a leg in the process. When i told people how much money it was costing me to essentially have my own cottage in the countryside for 3 nights they were rightly flabbergasted. It was an absolute steal. Just to dispell any concerns, it is not the Hilton, but nore is it advertised as such. There is no tv, the wifi was not great, and because of where the cottage is located, the signal on your phone won't be ideal either. I reccomend bringing a book! The kitchen is fully loaded with pans and whatnot, but i could never figure out how to get the oven working. That's probably my own limitation rather than the oven's! MK mentions that staying here is basically like camping but inside. My interpretation of that is to think of it like a very large caravan that's not going anywhere 🤷🏻‍♂️ The take away point in all this is that if you want to stay here for a few nights, I highly recommend it. It is totally worth it. MK was very contactable. I slept like a log. I enjoyed my morning coffees watching the sunrise on the little hill. And most of all, I fell in love with the little kitty who lives here, and by proximity the beautiful county of Sligo. Im already looking forward to going back!🇮🇪

Lough Arrow Cottage

if your wanting to get away from the hussle and bussle then this is the place your looking for. absolutely stunning scenery and so peaceful. We spent 3 nights at Araceli and Mir's cottage and wish we'd booked for longer, really loved taking the boat out and having a picnic on one of the islands in the lake. in the evenings taking pictures of the sun setting over the hills. loved waking up and sitting on the bench with our morning brew whilst listening to the chorus of bird songs. came away fully recharged.

LillianRating, 5 stars4 months ago
We had such an amazing stay! The location is absolutely stunning, beautiful lake. The house is immaculate and very homely with everything that we needed throughout our stay! We had paid for use of the boat too so many early mornings out rowing and fishing!! So nice to be able to have this option. Very peaceful. Hosts were so responsive and helpful. Very quick reply’s from them on this app. Also they bought us some croissants for our first morning in the house - Such a lovely touch and very kind!! Really lovely people!!! 100% recommend- we will be visiting again!!! Thank you both!!

Bridge Cottage Foxford Mayo Private Room

We stayed over the weekend at Geraldine's place and it was lovely! You are in the middle of beautiful nature and by car only a few minutes away of Foxford and Ballina which both have some nice restaurants and bars. The room has everything you need, including some breakfast to make yourself and coffee. The place was super clean and we felt very comfortable! If you're planning to visit the west, I can highly recommend staying at Geraldine's place. :)
