On a little fruit farm in the woods of the South Downs National Park. We're in the centre of the hamlet of West Dean Just a mile from the wonderful wild beach at Cuckmere Haven and near to some ancient Villages hidden in the valley. Wild life and woodland welcome you to an old barn with a great ambience. Great walks along the South Downs Way towards the Seven Sisters Cliffs and on to Birling Gap. And some good Pubs to try by the river where dogs are welcome .
“My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in October/November. We arrived to some nice personal touches such as lovely homemade cake and some milk in the fridge. Excellent location for walking from the doorstep onto the South Downs. Great walk to the Seven Sisters via East Dean. The farm shop has a nice selection of jams and chutneys. Also Jo and Julian have a selection of French wines to purchase. Best pub is the Plough and Harrow (5 minutes by car or 35 by the South Downs way) Highly recommend this small snug accommodation for two.”

“I was very impressed with Lorraine's space. I wanted a comfortable base to get some sea air and countryside for a couple of nights during my first week off since lockdown. There were many little thoughtful touches. The room and facilities were spotless, cosy and comfortable. I appreciated how easy check in was and how quick and easy communication with Lorraine. Would not hesitate to recommend. It was very good value and well worth the trip.”
Light and airy terraced house. Quiet close. Very central 5 mins walk to town and bus. 10 mins walk to seafront and station. Plenty of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants only a few minutes walk away.
“After a long day of near-gale winds and driving rains, Susan's place was a perfect antidote. Full of warm radiators, instantly hot shower water, and double glazed windows, there's no lack of modern amenities. Equally pleasant was the following morning's simple breakfast of muesli, toast, juice and coffee. It's the right amount of energy to get you to the top of the Seven Sisters viewing point in the aforementioned weather conditions. For South Downs Way hikers, it's a little off the beaten path but the extra distance is worth a comfortable and uncomplicated stay.”
