Your guide to Frinton-on-Sea
All About Frinton-on-Sea
A wide, sandy beach and classically elegant British seaside resort architecture make Frinton-on-Sea a highlight of the beautiful Essex coastline. The golden sands are lined with hundreds of colourful beach huts, and in the town, tree-lined avenues feature Edwardian buildings and upmarket shopping. Developed at the end of the 19th century as an exclusive, refined beach escape, Frinton-on-Sea has evolved to meet the needs of modern-day visitors with clean beaches and a full range of amenities while still retaining a secluded atmosphere.
In Frinton-on-Sea, you’ll come across plenty of shops, cozy cafes, and quality restaurants, as well as a quieter pace perfect for those looking for a low-key experience. There’s a popular summer theatre that has been running since 1934, which attracts excellent productions and artists in July and August, and several historic golf courses in the nearby area are open all year round.
The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Frinton-on-Sea
The summer months of June, July, and August are when Frinton-on-Sea is at its most vibrant, but even at the height of summer, this beach resort never feels too crowded. Long, sunny days on the beach with buckets and spades are followed by shopping on Connaught Avenue or drinks and dinner on the Esplanade. Every summer for over 80 years, McGrigor Hall has hosted a weekly theatre performance, with eight different shows and various other events all season long.
Out of season, Frinton-on-Sea offers brisk beach walks and beautiful coastal views when the weather is nice. In October, writers and readers alike flock to the annual literary festival. During winter, many holiday businesses close down, but you can still get cold, sunny days for photographing the picturesque beach huts before warming up with a cup of tea in your Frinton-on-Sea cottage.

The Walton and Frinton Yacht Club has equipment hire and training for sailing and canoeing, as well as a restaurant bar for a hearty meal after being out on the water.
