“Lovely little secluded and private den based in the village of Crakehall. Perfect for a quiet retreat for two. The bed was a little bit soft for my partner who has a bad back but you can’t cater for everybody and everything else was just as you would hope and expect. We visited just before the covid lockdown and were in the area for a family funeral but hope to come again in better circumstances, Good value for money and lovely hosts as well.”

“Brilliant weekend away in the hideaway. Angela was so helpful and even organised a cafetière when I asked the question. The local pub is great and loads to see and do in the surrounding area. The space was impeccably clean and felt spacious for 2 of us for the weekend. Would highly recommend!”
The Blacksmiths Shop is a cosy one bed cottage in the picturesque village of Crakehall, just minutes from the market town of Bedale and a short drive into beautiful Wensleydale. The cottage has a bedroom with ensuite and balcony leading onto an orchard garden and kitchen /living area with a log burner.
“Stayed here end of Jan. Anna was as welcoming as her home, what a lovely place. It was well equipped and spotlessly clean. I took no time in lighting the stove which warmed the whole house up so well I didn't need the additional heaters. Location is pretty and the local pub is friendly with decent home cooked food and a short walk away. Nice walks via footpaths round the village for my dog, and not far from the Dales for more adventurous walking. I'd stay here again.”
