The location of this property couldn’t have been more perfect. Each day we were within an hours drive from major sights and activities including: thingvellir and silfra, gulfoss and geyser, Rejkavik, blue lagoon and seljalandsfoss. Selfoss is accessible and the geothermal park in hvererageroi was fab. The remoteness created the perfect conditions away from built up areas and we were thrilled to see the northern lights twice - viewing them from the hot tub made it feel even more special. House was tidy with everything we needed and just as described. Instructions to get there and responses from Gunhilder were excellent. We would thoroughly recommend this property for a self drive action packed Icelandic holiday.

Great spot for our basecamp exploring Pingvellir and fishing the area lakes. Enjoyed the hot tub after long days out exploring. Saw the northern lights. Cozy cabin. Very comfortable bed. Private location despite being close to the circle road.

Efficient accommodation

I’m so grateful that I booked this apartment. Maria was outstanding, very attentive, responded always quickly and she even bake us a delish dessert. Cabin is exactly as described. Bed is good, space is beautiful and I was able to see the auroras from the cabin. Cabin is near the restaurant area of the city and lots of the amazing waterfalls that Iceland has to offer. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks for everything!

Such a peaceful, sweet and beautiful cottage! Great location! Comfortable beds, nice kitchen, great set up for resting and being together. Host was so great! She had great suggestions on what to do in the area and also for our next stop on our trip! We hope to be back ♥️

Highly recommend this place. You can take a rest after long trip or escape from the city in peace and quiet place! There is everything what you need to spend the best time. The owners are amazing people friendly, nice, and they take good care of this house. This makes this place so unique. We gonna back there again for sure :)

One of the best Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed at. Andrés was so kind and accommodating and had great recommendations, the cottage was charming with incredible views and in a great location. Everything was so clean and well organized, will absolutely be recommending this place to anyone we know traveling to Iceland! One of my favorite stays ever. We hope to return again and again!

Elín’s “house of happiness” is nothing short of a dream come true! My husband and I loved every single second at this incredible secluded cabin outside of Selfoss and already dreaming of our next trip back. Elín is a warm and accommodating host, you won’t find a lovelier and more thoughtful host out there. And don’t get us started on the outdoor shower! It has the perfect temperature and pressure! Do not hesitate to book this stay. You’ll be so happy you did it! Thank you, Elín for your hospitality! We’ll be back!

Though both Google & Apple Maps tried to get us to enter the neighborhood the wrong way (Pay attention--there are two entrances, & you want the one with the blue sign a bit to the west.), everything was great once we got that sorted. The space is small but perfect for two people, and the location is amazing and quiet, yet close to nearby villages and places like Gullfoss and Geysir. At the cabin, the only real sounds are of nature--from the birds to the nearby waterfalls--and the hot tub and deck were lovely. Note that there is only a small fridge, with no freezer, and there is no oven, simply an air fryer and outdoor grill. Grocery shop accordingly, as we did. I definitely recommend hiking back to the falls behind the cabin, as well as heading down the road a bit to see Bruarfoss. The blue water of both is absolutely beautiful! Finally, Hjörtur was responsive to questions before and during our trip, and it was a great visit. I would stay here again for sure.

We had a fantastic time at Straumnes cabins. The cabins are very peaceful, and in a beautiful setting on the lake. We were spending a couple of days doing the golden circle and South coast and the cabin was perfectly located for this. The communication was great, the cabin was well equipped with everything we needed, and lovely and warm. Many thanks to our host for a great stay. We would highly recommend the cabin for family's exploring the golden circle that want a peaceful stay in the countryside.

A lovely cottage for our family of 4. A great home base for exploring west/central/ and south Iceland.

This was the perfect place for our group of two moms and two teen daughters. It was within an hour of Reykjavik and key Golden Circle sites, and was easy access to Highway 1 that took us to the Southern part of the country to experience its dramatic features (our favorite part). Nearby Sellfoss offered the cheapest gas we found and lower prices at grocery stores than in Reykjavik. We had amazing views of the Northern Lights every night we stayed up late enough to see them due to the wide open views from the cabin and relative low light in the valley. The hosts were AMAZING, offering tips, keeping us informed about the area, and even dropping us a quick note when they'd heard through local reports that there would be a particularly great aurora display that night. We also loved the relative privacy and open space around the cabin. I almost hesitate to go on as we plan to return one day and I hope the place isn't booked solid!

Very well equipped home, which is an excellent home base location for exploring the golden circle. Hjordis was an excellent host with very quick communication in answering any questions we had prior to and during our stay. Would highly recommend for a sightseeing trip to Iceland.

Sígrun’s place was exactly what we were looking for! We had the best welcome ever being greeted by the northern lights. The house is well equipped with everything you need. From kitchen appliances to toiletries. And the hot tub outside, is an excellent place to relax. Location is perfect. Very nice and quiet and also close to all the main attractions of the golden circle. Our farewell was also memorable with northern lights dancing for us! Some places we’d like to recommend: Sky Lagoon, Thingvellir National park (20 min drive from the house, bring good shoes, can be very slippery). Tryggvaskali restaurant, Messinn restaurant, Silfra restaurant. And of course all the other attractions around the golden circle. Thank you, Sigrún, hope to be back soon!

Just as described! Krista was very helpful with recommendations and directions. Plenty of space and great living and dining room. Views are amazing. The hot tub was amazing, definitely try after a long day of hikes!

What a special spot! Gísli was a responsive host and the accommodation was simple but perfectly situated to take in the beautiful surroundings. It was comfortable and complete with everything we needed.

Small but beautiful cottage there was a well stocked up kitchen & hot tub was amazing!!!🤩, excellent location very near to some of the attractions in the golden circle . 18min away from shops in Selfoss , highly recommended! We will like to stay again 🙏🏻

This cabin is perfect! We got to cook a few nights which was nice to stay in during bad weather, it was private, very comfortable, and we got a glimpse of the northern nights one night. It’s also in a good base location and close to many sight seeing attractions. Rannveig was a wonderful host as well, she goes above and beyond making sure we were settled in and doing well. This place is amazing, truly behind words. Not only is it very roomy and very homey it is in a perfect location. It’s less than two hours in on direction to Reykjavík and two hours in the other direction to Vik, black sand beaches. It’s 20 mins from gas, grocery, a famous hot spring, a geyser, and many waterfalls and restaurants. We came in a snow storm at night and it was surprisingly easy to get up to the house. Rental companies should stud your tires and you’ll be fine. Our host was so responsive and left us special treats and Xmas decorations. He has plenty of coffee and necessities, robes, sweaters, flip flops, and so many towels! The best part: We saw northern lights from the hot tub and fireworks on New Year’s Eve. I could not have asked for a more perfect stay 10000/10 recommend.

The cottage is located in a quiet and isolated area but still within short traveling distance to prime tourist spots. Our hosts were very quick to answer our questions and accommodating to our specific needs. I would recommend this Airbnb!

Lovely cabin, very clean and beautiful location.

This is an attractive and well-appointed house. It is two residences that connect through a shared entryway, so it's great for traveling with two families. Only one side has a shower and a full kitchen though, so you share the space, then can retreat to your private areas for rest. Viktor is very responsive and solved our only issue extremely quickly.
