“If you're reading this and wondering if you should stay here the short answer is yes, yes you should: Roots Garden is fantastic. The hut itself is beautiful with a very comfortable bed and we loved the decor. You have your own shower and compost toilet huts outside which are both spotlessly clean, and a kitchen with a fridge. There's also firepit, Haruna's cat, and a your own private garden to explore and enjoy everything from parrots to colorful butterflies. There's lot's to see around the area and the local people are lovely (it's Gambia!) so you can walk round in total safety. I see other guests have also praised Haruna for his hospitality, and I can only echo this; he's a huge part of what makes this place so special and I can't praise him highly enough. He's also a fantastic cook! Far better than the food you'll get at Footsteps next door. I'm actually vegan which can be a big problem in The Gambia, but I never had a problem here. Neither me or my partner could believe what good value Roots Garden is. It's basically your own private resort for under £20 a night! I'm lucky to have traveled a lot, and it's takes a lot for me to say somewhere is truly special but this place really is magical. This is one of the first Airbnb places I've stayed at that I'd quite happily move into permanently!”
The cosy round house has one bedroom with a 140cm double bed, shelf and chair, and a small ensuite bathroom with sink, toilet and a (cold) shower. There is electricity and solar energy. It is part of a larger fenced and locked compound with a permanent watchman who can assist you with any queries or needs you may have. There's a lovely outside fire place and hammock. The local village is a 5 minutes walk, a beautiful natural beach is 2 km away, a 35 minutes walk or a quick bike or cab ride.
“I stayed at the Cosy Roundhouse on my journey to Senegal. The compound is beautiful and very welcoming. Saikou was brilliant helpful and very friendly as was Bintey. The compound was always clean and tidy. The gardens are beautiful and attract beautiful wildlife and birds, making life lying in the hammock!!! The village is just a short stroll away where you can get all the provisions you need together with money chargers. ideal. Thank you very much to all concerned for making my stay at Cosy Roundhouse so special ❤️ I would thoroughly recommend.”

“I would highly recommend a stay at Boboi Lodge Resort, the chef is awesome and adapted to our vegan diet with fine examples of Gambian dishes. We had to be quite organised in the treehouse, just room for the bed and luggage, you definitely need a torch to get to the toilets which are on the other side of the compound. The beach is awesome, with plenty of sunbeds and beach bars, turn left for 200 metres and you will find Yagsi’s Juice Bar, Yagsi is your local quide to exploring Kartong and the Allahein riverside with ease, what a gem, we were able to get the best advice for buying our Djembe, how to cook Gambian dishes and meeting so many Gambian folks. Boboi Lodge has WiFi connection and will organise trips for you, it is the best place to start your Gambian experience. Thank You”
