Valley and garden views
Soak up the views during your stay.
Out in the countryside, disconnected from the bustle of city life, Valais View overlooks our paddock with Valais sheep and Pygmy goats. Set in its own private, fenced, dog-safe enclosure, it has mains power, fast Wi-Fi, simple cooking facilities and a private hot shower and toilet. Just 2 minutes’ drive from Bideford or 10 minutes by bike along the Tarka Trail. Sleeps 2 in a double bed, plus 2 camp beds for children.
The space
Valais View is a spacious 5-metre bell tent set within its own private, fenced, dog-safe enclosure, with a separate entrance through the woods for added privacy.
Inside, there’s a proper double bed, with two additional camp beds available for children, along with mains power, fast Wi-Fi and simple cooking facilities including an induction hob, fridge, kettle, pans, frying pan, cutlery and crockery. It gives you the feel of camping without having to give up the useful comforts.
The tent has its own private hot shower and toilet, so there are no shared campsite facilities to walk to. You also have your own firepit/BBQ and outdoor seating area, all within the enclosure and for your exclusive use.
Set on the edge of our peaceful paddock, Valais View looks out towards our Valais sheep and Pygmy goats. It’s a lovely place to sit outside in the evening, light the firepit, watch the animals and enjoy the countryside.
Despite the rural setting, you’re only a couple of minutes’ drive from Bideford, or around 10 minutes by bike along the nearby Tarka Trail, making it easy to combine a quiet countryside stay with the town, coast and surrounding North Devon.
Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the whole Valais View enclosure for the duration of their stay. The bell tent, fenced dog-safe garden, private hot shower and toilet, outdoor seating and firepit/BBQ are all for your use only — there are no shared camping facilities.
The enclosure also has its own fresh-water tap and mains electricity supply, making it easy to fill bottles, wash up or power everyday devices without leaving your private space.
There is also room within the enclosure to pitch your own additional small tent if you need a little more sleeping space.
Valais View has its own separate entrance through the woods, so you can come and go independently without passing through another guest’s space.
We live on the property and are nearby if you need anything, but the enclosure itself is your private space to enjoy.
Other things to note
Private parking is available in the lane through the woods beside Valais View.
We ask guests to leave the enclosure as they found it. Please use the bins provided, clear up after yourselves and leave the bell tent, shower, toilet, seating and firepit area tidy at the end of your stay.
Valais View is in the countryside, so you will hear animals. You may be woken by cows in the neighbouring fields, have your washing investigated — or stolen — by the goats if you leave it on the fence, and catch rabbits out of the corner of your eye as they sneak through the hedge. You may also spot deer, badgers, buzzards and, of course, our ravenous Pygmy goats during your stay — all part of being out in the paddock.
