To help people affected by disaster get free, emergency housing through Airbnb.org, hosts can donate a percentage of each payout through their Airbnb accounts.
To turn on host payout donations, go to the Payments & Payouts section in your Account. Donating from host payouts is currently available in some countries, but not all.
To make a one-time or monthly-donation instead, visit Airbnb.org
To manage your host payout donation to Airbnb.org, you can pause, edit, or cancel your donation percentage anytime. Go to the Payments & Payouts section in your Account.
You’ll be able to change the donation percentage up until the reservation payout has been initiated by Airbnb, generally one day after guest checkout.
To opt in or out of donating, or to change the percent given from each payout:
100% of your donation goes directly to providing emergency housing. Airbnb does not make money on Airbnb.org stays.
Because Airbnb covers all operating costs of Airbnb.org, 100% of all donations are used to fund free, emergency housing for people affected by disasters or other emergencies.
Airbnb.org guests stay for free and Airbnb makes no money on these stays.
Airbnb.org is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Monetary donations to Airbnb.org are tax deductible in the US and are tax deductible for fiscal residents of Mexico to the extent permitted by law. Donations do not qualify for UK Gift Aid and are not tax deductible in the EU, or New Zealand. Please check your local tax laws.
You’ll receive an email receipt acknowledging your donation.
Your donation will be collected automatically when your host payout is initiated, calculated as the percentage of each payout that you previously set.
Because donations are tied to payouts, you can find them in completed payouts in your Transaction History. They will also appear in your payout confirmation email.
After your payout has been initiated, donations aren’t refundable.
Donations to Airbnb.org are used to fund emergency housing for people during times of disaster or crisis.
To help distribute credits or book housing, Airbnb.org works with nonprofit organizations to identify families, individuals, or first responders in need.
If you donate, you may receive regular updates from Airbnb.org on the work your donation supports.
After you opt in to host payout donations, an Airbnb.org supporter badge will appear on your host profile.
The badge only appears if you have currently active listings and if you are a main host of a listing, not a co-host. It’s only for hosts giving through host payout donations or hosts who offer an ongoing discount on a stay for Airbnb.org guests on at least one listing.
At this time, donations can be collected from payouts for any listing except those using split payouts. You can make a listing eligible for donations by editing your routing rules and removing split payouts, so that all payouts for that listing go to a single payout.
