Holiday rentals in Kabarnet

We stayed two nights at the chalet to go birding in the Lake Baringo area. Safe and tranquil spot with lots of birds, including a hornbill that visited our house both mornings that we were there. Kitchen is well-equipped but keep in mind that in Kenya it is common to have refrigerators unplugged until guests arrive so maybe don’t bring a ton of items that need to be refrigerated (we brought some and it was fine but we didn’t load up the fridge). The host would probably be happy to plug in the fridge if you communicate in advance that you will need it right away. The chalet was very clean, but living in the desert there will always be insects so be prepared for a couple harmless common wall spiders and a couple of their friends. There were mosquito nets for both beds. WiFi was excellent. Hot showers! The hosts will offer to arrange tours for you when you arrive which is nice but we politely declined this time. All in all the chalet was a great place for a self-drive birding stop.

The perfect place for a good nights sleep. Nothing fancy but all the basics and nice and secure. Martin was friendly and although I gave 3 stars for check-in this was only because as with many places in Kenya, they can be hard to find without clear instructions. Martin was easy to contact and there was little trouble finding it after I had spoken to him. This place is not a fancy hotel. It is simple but good. You get what you pay for. I would return.

We enjoyed our stay at Big 5. Martin,Magdalene and Whitney were very responsive. The view was beautiful not forgetting free access to their vegetable farm 😀. Thank you for the warm welcome.

The Big 5 apartment is quite new and well maintained, very peaceful place to stay. Even though it’s a distance from the town centre but it’s near to the Kamariny Track where the legends of running train there. Martin is an excellent host who will assist you with all your queries. We were well taken care of during our stay there. Will definitely book this place again.

Comfortable apartment in a green environment, high speed wifi, well equipped kitchen. I extended my stay and will come again for a longer stay. Martin and Magdaline are great hosts. The location is the best for runners as it's near the Kamariny track, forest and shops are around for the basic supplies.
