Away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, recommended for travellers who want to live and experience Kyoto like a local. The entire Honmachi house is rented out, so there is no need to share space with other guests. You can enjoy a private and peaceful time with just your family or friends. Some of the walls in the house were renovated by us using DIY methods, The interior furnishings and decorations are also carefully selected and arranged by us. Antique stained glass, washi lamps designed by Yusuke Noguchi, a master bedroom with a Simmons mattress and Muji bedding, and a tatami room with bedding inspired by previous guests' feedback, featuring a thicker mattress for a more comfortable rest and a pleasant stay. Every detail is designed to make guests feel the warmth and peace of home, and quietly experience the unique atmosphere of Kyoto.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.
