The location of the hotel is in a place where you can walk to downtown area of Kyoto and famous temples. It is a very convenient place.

Kyoto Machiya Gion "Kunitsukami" araka-tanaka

You are cordially invited to embark on a genuine Kyoto living experience at "Kunitsukami" araka-tanaka (the Gion House ). "Kunitsukami" araka-tanaka is a traditional Japanese 'machiya' is centrally-located in Gion. It was designated in Gion historic district building by Kyoto City Gov. The house was built in 1892, and was completely restored under the supervision of Kyoto City Gov, and it was stand up for historical Gion principle. It is rented an entire house, and private!

Our inn was apparently built in the early Showa period. We have renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas to make your stay more comfortable while still retaining the charm of the townhouse, such as the low ceilings and narrow, steep stairs. Why not try experiencing a bit of Kyoto life? Please note that we will charge a local accommodation tax (200 yen per person per night) in addition to the accommodation fee. ｢Tabitabi Kawama｣is located between Kamo-river and Takase-river, and the word 〝Kawama〞means inter-river in Japanese. On the second floor, there is a specially-built independent balcony facing to Kamo-river. Opening the window, you could enjoy the breeze from the Kamo-river, to feel the charm of the mother river "Kamogawa" Kyoto. The design of house is based on the traditional Japanese style, such as wallpaper made of tinfoil and traditional tatami.

Loft on top of a machiya

This is a unique loft space on top of a rare 3 floors machiya located on the central island of Kyoto. On the top floor of HASU former ryokan, we have designed an ensuite appartement with 2 rooms that are like 2 small houses. One room is located on the East side, and the other on the West side, they both have their own shower. The house was renovated in 2020 in order to offer an authentic experience in an ancient ryokan, with a contemporary comfort.
