Birken Cottage – Holidays at the Herbsthausen Sawmill

Our three one-room apartments — Ahorn, Linde, and Birke — combine the historic charm of Herbsthausen with contemporary design. Each apartment is completely unique and has been modernized by us. They offer space for two to three people each. The apartments are part of “Herbsthausen”, an cultural project in the town of Gartow. We are renovating a historic sawmill and transforming it into a future-oriented place for art, industrial heritage, living, working, international exchange, and relaxation.

In the middle of the forest, on a clearing, 3 km from the beautiful town of Gartow, lies our special retreat. If you are looking for peace and quiet in nature and value simplicity and goodness, this is the place. The old half-timbered building, a former stable, was renovated with high quality and sustainably with natural materials. Clay plaster on the walls and the wood-burning stove guarantee an excellent indoor climate, and the walk to the wood-fired sauna promises absolute relaxation!

Welcome to our cottage on the Elbe dyke! Our house and the detached guest house were built in 2021. The guest house is very cozy and stylish with many details, such as furniture, windows, etc., which have been designed and built in individual production and with a lot of love for detail. If you are looking for peace and relaxation in a stylishly furnished ambience, this is the place to be. The Elbe Cycle Path and Elbe Dike are about 200 meters from us.

Holiday apartment "Gardenview" at the gates of Schwerin

In front of the doors of Schwerin lies our over 100-year-old house with adjoining new building with two individually designed apartments. The "Gardenview" is suitable for both business travelers and individual travelers. Located on the 1st floor, it offers a light-flooded living space with a king-size bed, desk and small dining area with high chairs. An adjoining kitchen, as well as a separate shower room complete the apartment with garden view.

Eggs from happy chickens are available here in our village from the "neighbor". Numerous festivals, cultural events and exhibitions in the area ensure that your stay with us is not boring. Farm shops with fresh fruit,vegetables and specialties from the region invite you to shop. .

In a quiet residential area, our small attic apartment is a short distance from the city center, large park and castle of the small, former residence town of Ludwigslust. The swimming lake in Neustadt Glewe can be reached in 15 minutes (car). The Baltic Sea is about one hour away by car. Schwerin, Rostock, Wismar and Hamburg are easily accessible.

The guest apartment is spread over 2 floors. Downstairs is a sofa bed for 2 people, as well as the kitchen with 2 induction fields, dishwasher, sink and fridge with freezer. You'll also find a dining room and the TV. Upstairs is a box spring bed and the bathroom with toilet, shower and washing machine.
