Alice was so great with our baby and Elise (the cook) made delicious food for us and our baby. Anything tour related such as hiking Mount Bisoke ask Peterson. All of the staff went above and beyond to help us. Alice came to the Market with us to buy Rwandan imigongo (pictures) and Kitenge (traditional fabrics). All in all our group highly recommends staying at the Urugano Virunga Palace when you come to Musanze. :)

Pros: Very beautiful location with volcano views. Host was responsive and the rooms were comfortable. Cons: - difficult to locate and hard access after rains - no mosquito nets - a little awkward to stay in a nice cottage at the top of the hill with running water and electricity when the surrounding village is without

Breathtaking lake view cabin

My wife and I had an incredible stay during our honeymoon on Lake Bunyoni -- absolutely beautiful surroundings -- there's a circle hut lodge with two large beds and that is very secure -- opens to large front and wraparound deck that overlooks Lake Bunyoni up high from the water -- very peaceful and tranquil and we had the pleasure of seeing several Crested Cranes perched out in front, there's a short grassy area in between the lodge and the lounge area -- where there's an open but covered pavilion that has an enclosed and attached kitchen -- kitchen is rustic but has everything you need to cook with -- stove, pots and pans, utensils, coffee makers -- bring all needed food supplies, spices, butter, etc with you -- staff is always near by if you need anything and they will check in on you frequently -- Josia, Amon, and the others were all awesome ! We mostly relaxed but did do a brief canoe ride (good workout) and took the hike to the blacksmith !! Host always helpful and responsive !!

Outstanding cottage with a perfect view of the volcanos. Loved canoeing the lakes, watching the birds, and enjoying the lake fish at the nearby restaurants. Perfect getaway from the busyness of the city and towns. Even extended the stay by another day of peace and quiet. Would happily return!

The house is standing all alone between local farming and trees. House has an excellent and big sunset terrace in front of the house. House and terrace are twenty meters away and twenty meters above the lake. Hot shower comes from own fire-heated tank. Great swimming from private jetty. Nice to cook in the kitchen = living room. Sounds of frogs in the evening.

my second trip to this magic place. Very warm and helpfull host family. Seems allways to be summer-time at this location 😀 Take a walk in the hills, go for a swimm in the crocodile-free lake. Canoing, so many options… Oluf from Denmark
