Spend a moment on the shores of Marsh lake in a rustic, but clean bright private cabin. Beside visiting the cabin, an experience Yukon visitors should try, doing yoga in a wall tent then having a sauna. Or go kayaking in the summer, sledding in the winter all the while taking a good look around the lake. Or simply build a fire and watch for northern lights while star gazing. My cabin is only 35 minutes from downtown Whitehorse (about 50km). You will have the entire property to yourself to enjoy.
“What a great eclectic place to get away to! Private lake front property with multiple places to sit outdoors to enjoy the view. We especially loved the outdoor fireplaces (2) and the sauna to warm up after a swim. The wall tent was better than expected with a large u shaped couch and a double bed (with another fireplace). The size of the kitchen was a bit of a challenge when cooking for a family over multiple days, but there were 3 outdoor BBQ's and almost everything that was needed to cook (e..g, essentials, double hot plate, griddle, toaster oven, microwave, small fridge). There were also many extras (life jackets, blow up boat, water guns, zip line, bug spray, sunscreen) and nice touches provided by the host. Keep in mind that there is an outhouse for a washroom and all washing must be done from jugs of water (many were supplied). If you're used to tent or small trailer camping, think of this property as a significant upgrade. For us, location, privacy and outdoor space were the most important pieces of this property.”
Located on the headwaters of the Yukon River, 2 kilometers from Alaska Highway, half hour drive to Whitehorse. The cabin faces Marsh Lake, where thousands of swans, ducks and other waterbirds congregate each spring. Gorgeous view of mountain peaks. Sandy beach and forest trails. Cabin is self sufficient, with an antique double bed, wood stove, and kitchenette- blue jug water system, small fridge and hotplate. Free wifi and dog friendly. A sweet outhouse in the woods. Wall tent may be available.
“The Hobo is a beautifully cozy cabin to spend your time at Marsh Lake. The cute cabin is located on the water (or ice lol). It is the perfect location for any activity all times of year. We look forward to returning during the summer months to experience the canoeing and water activities. Peter is a marvellously warm and welcoming host. He has a wealth of knowledge on the area and will accommodate all needs. We look forward to spending time with him again in the future.”
PLEASE NOTE: You'll need a vehicle to stay here. There's no public transport. Basement suite is located at army beach, about a 30 minute drive from Whitehorse. There is a small private basic kitchen area, and a private living area with a TV and DVD collection. The property is a three minute walk from the lake and a perfect spot to watch northern lights in the winter months. There is also a outdoor fireplace with hammocks to enjoy a few drinks.
“Isabel's place is warm and cozy. It's in a quiet neighborhood by Marsh Lake. It's pitch dark outside the house at night, very ideal for stargazing or northern light viewing. We were welcomed by the lovely family and their cute & friendly dogs. The basement suite has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a tranquil experience in Yukon.”
