In addition to summer river fun and winter snow play, the Lithuanian barrel sauna and bathing in the source spring right in front of you are highly popular as an 'otherworldly sauna experience'. During the green season, we offer an outdoor bonfire (with a teepee set up depending on the time of year), and in winter, we use an indoor wood-burning stove.You can enjoy a profound moment of conversation while gazing into the fire. Location Opened in May 2024. Located in the heart of Takayama's historic district, Makoto-ya Ojin is a stylish inn in 1-chome, Ojin-cho, Takayama City, where the good old Japanese landscape remains. In front of our house, which is sandwiched between the Hida-Buri Highway that connects the former Toyama and Takayama, there are the Nissho-bu Mingei Kan and the Yoshima residence, which are important cultural properties that show the rich cultural assets of Japan, and this area is designated as a preservation district for traditional buildings. You can enjoy the old town and beautiful scenery while experiencing historic buildings. It is a 2-minute walk to Miyagawa Morning Market and a 5-minute walk to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the site of the autumn Takayama Festival. Medieval Haiku poet, Basho Matsuo likened eternal passage of time to "百代の過客", a permanent traveller. In his time, a hundred years was expressed as eternal. HAKU was originally built as a farmer’s shed about a hundred years ago. It was recently relocated and renovated for another hundred years. HAKU will welcome you as traveling companions.
