We renovated a two-story storehouse built in the Edo period and made it into a guest house. Although it is not spacious, a kitchen with an IH cooking heater is installed on the first floor, while maintaining the atmosphere of a storehouse with its earthen walls and thick beams. The first and second floors are equipped with air conditioning for a comfortable stay. You can experience the sound insulation, summer coolness, and winter warmth unique to a storehouse. If you like, you can enjoy coffee made with freshly ground beans. Sister-gawa Onsen and Ibuki Yakuza-Yu are about 15 minutes away by car. We can provide you with a ticket for Sankawa Onsen (cheaper than the regular price). Please contact us about pick-up and drop-off. There are many tourist spots unique to Nagahama, which has often been the stage of history. Hikone Castle, a National Treasure, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Nagahama Castle, the birthplace of Ishida Mitsunari, one of Japan's leading mountain castles, Otaki, the site of the battle, and others. It is also less than 20 minutes by car to the Sekigahara Battlefield. In addition to the area around Lake Biwa, there are plenty of non-historical attractions such as Japan's oldest railway station building, Nagahama Railway Square, the Yanmar Museum where children can play, and Kurobane Square. You can also enjoy gourmet food such as Omi beef, duck cuisine, grilled mackerel somen, noodles, salad bread, duck, and small ayu.

It is a beautiful location surrounded by nature, just a 30-second walk to Tsuruga Bay, where Mizushima floats. From the beginning of🏝️ July to the end of August, a ferry runs to Mizushima, where you can enjoy swimming in the sea.It is located in a 1-minute walk to the seafaring area. 🚢[Operating period] Operation has started❗️ Monday, 21 July to Sunday, 24 August 2025 　Even outside of the operating period, we will take you to Mizushima on our small boat during the summer.(There is a separate boarding fee.In bad weather, the flight will be cancelled. 　There is also a sandy beach where you can swim within walking distance. We will prepare a ferry discount ticket for🎫 guests staying only.(This is a very good value ticket, usually 1,500 yen for adults, reduced to⇒ 800 yen) 🚗Parking is free for up to 3 cars.(Surrounding market in summer: 1,500 yen to 2,000 yen/day per unit) Please let us know in advance if there will be more than 4 cars. 　You can park your car before check-in and go for a swim, and if you go for a swim after check-out, you can use the parking lot for the rest of the day. There are no shops near the⚠️ facility, so I encourage you to prepare ingredients and other necessary items in advance.

Stylish old house with a theater room

The second floor of the old house is a large theater room. Feel free to enjoy Amazon Prime in the theater room. The large kitchen where you can cook your own local ingredients is also very popular.The water around the kitchen, bath and toilet is new and easy to use. Zhu Seed is a building that has been renovated to be a locally beloved place as a medical clinic, mainly in Yokohama, Tsuruga City.During the war, the person who worked as a doctor in Manchu came home after the war and responded to the local hot voice that the clinic could be opened in this area where there was no full medical care.The construction involved the people in the area, for example, the men cut down and transported the mountain trees, and the earth wall was a loving place where women manually carried the mountain and soil, and the gardeners made gardens around a large pond to make the teacher comfortable.Later, the transportation system developed, and the task was considered to be dismantled, but the owner of Zhu Shi was voiced and renovated to become the current form.

Traditional Townhouse & Garden in Quiet Castletown

Experience the charm of traditional Japan with all the senses in this finely crafted townhouse & surrounding garden. Gujo Hachiman is known as the “City of Water”, and owner & architect Yuri Fujisawa has lovingly restored this charming residence to embody the spirit of water. Located below the town’s medieval castle, this neighborhood was reserved for high-ranking samurai. While the historical streetscape is well-preserved, it remains an authentic neighborhood inhabited by friendly locals.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.
