You will be staying with a friendly couple Jay (Malawian) and Siobhain (Australian). We have two rooms for rent in our house. Both have two single beds and a fan. One minute walk to the beach. 15 minute walk to the national park and otters point. Situated close to many lodges, restaurants and bars. There is an outside common area and inside common area to relax. The use of the kitchen is free of charge and you can buy fresh produce within 2 minutes walk from the house.
“Siobhain and Jay make you feel welcome right away. They just moved into a new house which is spacious and close to the beach and all the lodges. They are very warm and welcoming people that love to have a chat with you but also give you your privacy when needed. They have a small shady garden where you can hang out. We had a lovely meal and dinner together and had nice conversations with them. Also they helped us out with arranging activities against local prices and helped us with transportstion to our next destination. I would recommend everyone to stay here. It was one of our best Airbnb experiences so far.”
A lovely beachfront home with wonderful sunset views, set amongst a vibrant fishing community. The cottage has a lush garden with mature local trees with a baby-friendly swimming pool. There are 2 cool grass-thatched sitting areas set on the beach for cool sundowners.
“Wonderful stay. Being an owner of a 4-star hotel myself, I would recommend this beautiful lake-shore home to anyone. Absolute value for money and more! You will not be disappointed. Apologies for the self-promotion here, but if anyone is looking for accommodation in Lilongwe, give the reasonably priced, 4-star Ufulu Gardens Hotel a try.”
The Beach Cottage is a simple, cosy but comfortable house in the heart of Cape Maclear. There is now a supermarket in the village a short walk from the Beach Cottage making self-catering very easy.
“The beach cottage is a very pleasant humble house right by the beach as its name rightfully says. We had a great relaxing stay there, spending lazy days on the terrasse watching the villagers' life unfold by the lake. The littering on the beach is spoiling it a bit but that should not deter people to visit this still beautiful fishing village. On arrival, do not trust location of the beach cottage by Google maps, it is wrong... Bring filter coffee, there are coffee plungers available! Also bring other food supplies, no supermarket available nearby, however you find nice rice and obviously lots of fresh fish!!”
