This is a private rental of an old house located just behind Kamishima Shrine, about 30 seconds from the sea. Takagi is a quiet area within the village with no stores.You can also get here by bus, but you will need a car.You can find groceries and daily necessities around Sun Terrace, which is about a 15-20 minute drive away. The kitchen and other areas have been fully renovated, and solid cedar wood is used for the floors.The bath and toilet have their original fixtures and are carefully cleaned and maintained.Slippers are not provided so that you can enjoy the cedar floor with bare feet. Some windows do not have curtains so you can enjoy the nature behind them. This is a recommended place for those who want to enjoy the charm of an old traditional house and the tranquility of the seaside rather than the newness and convenience of a hotel. Up to 2 medium-sized dogs are allowed.The provided cage is for one pet, so please bring an additional cage if you have two pets. Please use the free parking space in the village community by the sea, near the large ginkgo tree in front of Kamishima Shrine.This is not an accommodation-only property, so please be considerate of local residents. Enjoy a "life close to nature" in a traditional house that is over 100 years old "Masuya" is a genuine old kominka house with a history of over 100 years.We made sure not to renovate too much, and we reborn it as an inn with as little modification as possible.The walls and pillars are not shiny, but they have been deliberately left as they are so that you can feel the history of this house. The toilet is a composting system that relies on microorganisms for decomposition. The water is heated by solar energy, and if there is not enough, we light a wood fire and take a bath. There is no air conditioning, so you will have to make do with a fan and a mosquito net. There is absolutely no modern convenience. However, you can experience a rich lifestyle where you pick persimmons and chestnuts from the garden, dig up bamboo shoots from the mountain behind the house, and cook and eat the ingredients you have collected yourself. The owner, who lives nearby, is also living a natural lifestyle.If the timing is right, let's have a meal together and talk about life on the island. It is only a 5-minute drive from Beppu Port. There are also supermarkets and restaurants around the port, so it's also convenient for shopping and eating out. The house itself is a "normal old house". The bathroom facilities have not been renovated, and the washing machine is a retro twin-tub model, but I hope you will enjoy the nostalgic feeling of staying at a "relative's house in the countryside", including these features. Because there is no Wi-Fi, you can spend time away from digital devices and face-to-face with family and friends. The location is good, and the area around Saigo Port, where there are many restaurants, is within walking distance. We also offer free bicycle rentals, so why not try going out for a meal while cycling? Spread out and relax in a private space unique to a private building.
