“Rodrigo’s place is a beautiful, quiet get away above beautiful Playa Negro. We are so happy we decided to choose this spot. It was very clean and lovely. After spending a day at the beach, we would drive back up the hill for a cooling swim and a sunset meal on the deck. Rodrido eS a great host, offering beach suggestions, went mountain biking with my husband and arranged for a dinner reservation our last night at an amazing spot. The nearby beaches were almost uninhabited. So peaceful and relaxing.”
Cozy wood cabin located only 1.5 km to San Juanillo Beach, 7 km to Marbella and Ostional Wildlife Refuge, 8 km from Pacha Mama. Perfect for a person who loves to be surrounded by nature. The "humble abode" has an outdoor private shower and a shared bathroom. Activities in the area include archery, yoga, ayurvedic workshops, tours on horseback, fishing tours, ATV and bicycle rentals. Guest are welcome to use the Yoga and Archery Rancho when classes are not scheduled.
“I spent 15 nights at Sonia's place, and I am very happy withy decision. The room itself, is small and simple, as advertised, but perfect for what I was looking for, and at a great value. The outside private shower was an amazing touch as well. The host family are great people, down to earth, literally and figuratively. Wonderful people to have around and have good conversations with, and very helpful all around. It was nice to see what they have built there, with a nice place to practice yoga and archery, ayurvedic herbs growing everywhere, and falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle was so therapeutic. It is located just a short walk to a virtually private amazing beach, which I had to myself for hours everyday, only a few other people at the beach from time to time. I don't think I missed a sunset at the beach the whole time I was there, it was amazing. I also rented a mountain bike from them, and explored the coast daily between Guiones and Marbella, so many great beaches around there to explore, and having a mountain bike was not something I had planned on before I got there, but it turned out to be a great decision, because I got to experience multiple beaches, and side roads for great views and for convenience getting into town. The small town of San Juanillo is about a kilometer away, with a couple little stores to get anything you'd generally need from a convenience store, and some produce. There are also a few cafes in town for wifi, coffee, and food. It is a quiet town, but more than you'd need to survive comfortably. Plus, I would ride the mountain bike to Marbella to visit the Tiki Hut, and ride the bike to Guiones to check out more cafes, beach, and to do a little more shopping. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Sonia, Freddy, and their two sons were a joy to get to know, and were so helpful with everything. And for the price, it was a great value to have such direct access to nature and gorgeous beaches, in a safe, peaceful, comfortable, down-to-earth environment. I totally recommend this place.”
Casa Pitayha is a Cabaña offering Parking Space on the ground floor and a comfortable studio space on the upper floor. Most of the small house is made of local tropical timber coming from reforestation (Teak floor, teak beams, Pochote walls...). Built on a 1.25 acres property, the house is surrounded with Guanacaste trees and wildlife (howler monkeys, hummingbirds...). This house is for true nature lovers that are willing to get out of the beaten track and "live" the dry tropical forest.
“My husband and I decided to not rent a car so getting around in Marbella meant a lot of walking. We didn’t mind the walking because of how beautiful it was! Walking to the beach took about 15 minutes and that was all the way to the tiki hut restaurant. The house was simple but beautifully hand crafted! We had a nice breeze and working fans so we were never too warm. The property is among the trees so it was very tranquil. The best part was the hospitality of Cedric and Maria. Because we didn’t have a car we arranged to have someone pick us up and drive us to our next destination. That plan fell through and we were stuck without a ride to Playa Avellanas which was 1.5 hours away. We spoke to Cedric about this and he immediately found us a ride with a good friend of his. He didn’t have to go out of his way but he did. Just the small kindness went a long way and set the tone for our Costa Rican adventure. Thank you again for such a great experience, we will be back soon. Pura Vida”
