“It all started 2 years ago when I was driving from Puglia to Tuscany. I saw the most beautiful mountains and thought, “next time I’m in Italy I’m stopping to explore this area”. So, on this trip I looked on Airbnb to see where I could spend a night on my drive through Abruzzo. I found this absolute gem. San Benedetto in Perillis is perched on a lovely little mountain. In the valleys you see very green, beautiful farms. In the distance are snow capped, majestic mountains. Paola’s bnb is on the edge of town. It is a little tricky to find because there isn’t much service in the area(you’re in the mountains!!) But if you see a resident, just ask!! From what I hear, the town was devastated by an earthquake 10 years ago and people left their homes. Sad, but time has sort of frozen in this adorable medieval village. I loved walking the streets and taking pictures of the cats that now occupy the beautiful abandoned homes. There are no restaurants in town, but there are a few towns that are about 15-20 minutes away by car. Now, about the room. This is SUCH an incredible place. The view, the tub, the comfortable bed, modern luxuries. It has everything. The breakfast was delicious. Paola is a wonderful host. She made so many goodies for us!!! She is such a sweet person! She used her phone to translate what I didn’t understand(my Italian is horrible) I absolutely loved staying here. If you love mountains, quaint villages, local cuisine, hiking, Italy itself...book AT LEAST 2 nights here. The area is so beautiful and driving around alone was such a pleasure!!!!! I can’t wait to return :)”
“The house is really cozy, you can breathe a nice atmosphere, it is equipped with everything you need. Impeccable cleanliness and guaranteed relaxation. The view from the windows is a "good morning" not bad! Ginello, the owner, is precise, kind and considerate. Bolognano is a charming and special little town where nature and culture merge or, at least, they met. Too bad I miss fresh bread in the morning, on the other hand a nice young lady is present every day in the information kiosk in the center of the village. The location of the Ginello house is excellent, at the entrance of interesting small walks which can be accessed directly from the adjacent forest. And not far from the valley of the orchard, that of the orento, the hermitages and the whole Maiella.! Go there !!!!!!”
House surrounded by nature and silence, inside the old part of the village, in a characteristic street with a splendid view on the Maiella National Park. The old village is called Corfinio, my place is in via del Decurionato n. 7
“Corfinio is the ultimate authentic Italian village for a holiday. Away from tourists and commercialism, and set in a stunning location. There is an air of old world charm, and a different life. The apartment is great and has everything we needed. The photographic opportunities are endless. We were met by Alessandro’s father in the piazza, who directed us to the apartment. The village is too small to get lost in. Nearby are supermarkets etc, but you do need a car for convenience. If I wanted to unwind somewhere, there is no better place.”
