Hotel De La Poste is a 2 star hotel historic building with colonial architecture. Big spacious rooms with high ceilings and has all what is needed for a comfortable stay at a budget.
“Le Poste is the gem of Port Said. Located in convenient location by one of the main streets close to shops and various eateries and taxis are available right outside the door. Taxis now in Port Said max 10 Egyptian pounds per ride. Le Poste: Imagine a hotel built before 1900s. It has the special flair of recent Egyptian history in Port Said, meaning, the architecture of the rooms you will find as if you were in Port Said’s grandparents apartments back in the 50s and 60s. It has high ceilings, wood floors, an elevator, Egyptian style balcony that can be closed in or open depending on the room. You get very basic simple amenities that meets our basic needs: bed to sleep that was comfortable and clean, blanket and cover brought me nostalgia from my upbringing in Port Said, bathroom to use (small l, clean and does the job) and best of all it is very safe especially for us women traveling solo. Yes hotel needs updates however if you are looking for rest and convenient location this is it. I absolutely loved that the water for showering was perfect temperature and flow of water. Breakfast is typical delicious Egyptian breakfast: cooked fava beans, boiled eggs, cheese, coffee or tea, pita bread, butter and jam all brought to you in one big plate. Breakfast is served between 8am-10am. The staff: very polite, pleasant and helpful from housekeeping, receptionists and food servers all you met were good people and staff respected one another (not like some hotels in Egypt where staff yell at each other in front of customers). Le Poste staff provides good customer service. Port Said is a noisy town due to cars honking most of the time. Therefore, expect to hear it but don’t blame the hotel. I simply closed my windows and glass wooden doors by balcony and was good to go. The room had a/c but due to cooler weather I didn’t use it. Water is not included im breakfast and the cost for bottle was 4 Egyptian pounds you just ask for it. Otherwise you can go to local mini markets get water bottles to your convenience 1 pound cheaper. As a single woman this hotel was the only hotel in Port Said I found I could make reservations using credit card prior to my arrival via airbnb. This is definitely a plus, I wouldn’t want to go any town without reservations made. This hotel is very safe any hour of day or night. Mohamed, the one that manages Airbnb Le Poste account, was very prompt and available for any questions via text, email or phone call. He had exemplary customer service and made me feel very welcome just like all other Le Poste staff. Good hotel for its price definitely will stay again next time! I love you Le Poste 💕 thanks for making me feel at home and safe.”
