Live and experience an uncompromised mountainous region and a unique bunch of villagers in Sri Lanka, whose core occupation is farming and life revolving around a peaceful culture originating from a Buddhist environment, tranquil harmony, beautiful valleys and flavorful culinary using age old family traditions, utensils, care and love. it's open to the natural elements. Thereby....."living with nature"
“I wanted a quite place to spend a few days in nature and catch up on some work. Eagles nest did not disappoint. Stunning views from the house, peaceful, quiet, with nature all around...Even the rain did not bother me..The caretaker Janaka was amazing, He looked after my needs and was so helpful...His wife’s cooking was so tasty and fresh..Authentic Sri Lankan quinine.. The owner Charmaline was not around but she called in a few times to see if everything was Oklahoma, very attentive and welcomed. There was a power cut one day due to a fallen tree, but it was back on by sunset...A minor hiccup on this amazing stay. I loved my walks in the nearby village, soaking in the quaint village life. The locals were so kind. I can’t say enough good things about eagles nest.. Will surely come back again.”
Removed from the bustle of Kandy and nestled in a tea plantation, the Octagon was built using sustainable methods by local craftsmen. Conveniently situated close to ancient temples and jungle villages, we are only 45 minutes from Kandy. The Octagon is now fully equipped for self catering with a gas hob, fridge and microwave. . They can also request delicious Sri Lankan meals cooked by Naomi. The cost of lunch/dinner is 800 rupees per meal. There is also a take-away a five minute walk away!
“The Octagon offers a lot of space, wonderful garden and terrace. It is perfect to rest and have a privacy. The temperature was very pleasant even in February, so no need of AC, (it lays 500m above sea level). The caretaker Desmond offers delicious breakfast and dinner and is very helpful and friendly. It is not easy to find the house, however Desmond guides the driver successfully. We are so satisfied there, that we would like to come again.”
My Apartment is located in the misty hills of Hanthana. It is 20 minutes walk from the historical city of Kandy which is known as the last kingdom of Sri Lanka. It is a tranquil place where you find peace of mind in recluse in misty greens of Hanthana.
“A great place to stay - super nicely decorated with a great view. You wake up between the palm trees! Unfortunately it was very loud at night from the street and the barking dogs. There is a small kitchen with everything you need and a small shop down the stairs. You can only get to the accommodation by TukTuk / taxi, otherwise it is a long walk. We were immediately recommended a TukTuk driver who reliably picked us up from the train station and with whom we made a great trip the next morning from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, with a stop at a tea plantation, waterfalls and a lunch spot. From there we could take the great train ride to Ella. We recommend!”
