“Mark’s Yurt is an outstanding getaway! Very secluded, put your phone away and get away from the daily stressors and enjoy the sound of pure nature. Be sure and be mindful of the 4x4 recommendation. I’ve got a Toyota RAV4 FWD and it was possible.... but I will not take this vehicle again next time! So yes, you should have a 4x4 or AWD... definitely. It’s not so much that the roads are uneven, it’s more because of the loose gravel... don’t get me wrong, there are some uneven parts but the roads definitely call for a vehicle that can climb those gravel roads with ease. The first night we were in the yurt we got an unexpected spurt of snow. Even though it was unexpected the wood stove kept us nice and toasty and the snow was beautiful and gone by noon the next day! The second night we experienced the most beautiful night sky and star gazing was wonderful. Mark was an amazing host he left a bottle of wine and a nice note for my boyfriend and I for our 10year anniversary, and left accommodations for our fur babies! -very thoughtful, and much appreciated. The views are one of a kind! Go stay in the yurt and enjoy a peaceful getaway!”
Quaint, rustic cabin with a spectacular view. Nestled smack in the middle of a centennial cattle ranch and within walking distance of the Rio Grande River. The ranching operation is an all grass-fed organic beef supplier located next to hundreds of Forest Service roads which are just minutes away. Owners are close by and friendly! If you are looking to book around the holidays and the cabin is blocked please message me for more information.
“We had a simply incredible weekend in a spotless cabin on a working cattle ranch. The views from the cabin are amazing and we could have stayed there the whole time gazing out the huge windows and seeing the snow capped mountains and the farm life. Tracy and her family were such gracious hosts. We had fresh eggs and bought the most delicious steaks from the ranch. We went to see the Sandhill cranes in Monte Vista which was also an amazing experience. Would love to return to this slice of heaven in southern Colorado! Five stars!”
This 1000sq ft cabin in the country with a very rural setting. It is quiet and relaxing, has a wood stove and is close to outdoor activities. Penitent Canyon, La Garita, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, 4wheeling, ATV trails, snowmobiling, skiing (Wolf Creek is 50 min drive). It has a canal running by in the summer. Self-serve breakfast with home-made yogurt, home-made granola, home-made bread for toast, local grown organic eggs, (hot coffee, chocolate, tea).
“This was our second trip out to Jeanita's cabin and once again, it was just what we needed. The cabin is quiet, free of distractions and surrounded by so much beauty. You can see mountains in every direction. The breakfast that Jeanita provides is amazing, homemade bread, yogurt, granola and fresh eggs. We spent an anniversary weekend there and it provided the private and peaceful setting that we were wanting. We highly recommend Jeanita's place.”
