“We had a lovely stay at Rob’s place. The apartment is well equipped, cosy and very clean. There were some extra’s in the kitchen, very thoughtful! We didn’t use the terras because it was too cold but with beautiful weather that must be very lovely too! The stream, the sheep, it’s all very idyllic! I would certainly recommend this apartment.”
Raise Lodge is a lovely Georgian farmhouse situated on a working sheep farm that also specialises in training working sheepdogs. It is located just outside Wigton, on the edge of the Lake District National Park. We are also only 20 minutes from the Scottish border and the city of Carlisle. The farmhouse an ideal base for those wanting to explore the many outdoor attractions in the area. We are close to the Solway coast, the Lake District and Scotland.
“Once we'd found the correct entrance to use, we absolutely loved our stay here: very, very peaceful, and warm and cosy. We were in Cumbria for a big family get-together nearby, so used Ludivine's place to only sleep and have breakfast (tea, coffee, sugar and milk were provided, but we take our own anyway). Lovely to have hooks in the bathroom for towels, etc. (so often annoyingly missing in places we stay). The co-host, Helen, has her paintings on display on the walls: she is such a talented artist. David fell in love with one of the paintings in the kitchen, and wanted to buy it but thought it would be too expensive. However, and I can say this as he doesn't read reviews I write, it was actually a print so Helen and I managed to sneak it to the car whilst his back was turned: it will be a great birthday present in January! Will be happy to return if we can't stay with family again...”
Ideal base to explore the Lake District National Park or enjoy glorious walks from the doorstep. Walk to the village pub for supper or enjoy a meal at home in the stylish traditional cottage. Relax and unwind in front of a log burning stove.
“Lovely cosy little cottage in a beautiful, quiet village (with an excellent pub!). We stayed there because we wanted to climb Cat Bells and it was a good distance away from Keswick - only a half an hour drive - but in the peaceful location we wanted. The cottage was clean and tidy and the hosts were great with communication during check in. Definitely would recommend :)”
