Frank & Melinda were wonderful hosts and a gem to work with. Celebrated my birthday with the family on a quick Spring ski getaway and they surprised us with a bottle of sparkling wine in the refrigerator. Totally thoughtful gesture. Great & convenient location, well-appointed condo, easy & seamless check-in, and all communications were prompt. Would definitely come back.

Kirkwood is absolutely amazing and the location of this space just minutes from the gondola makes it that much better. The room was perfect for accommodating my friend and I. Would love to come back!

We've stayed at The Meadows in Kirkwood for 10+ years. The studios are an affordable option for a family of 4. I really like the bunk bed layout of Frank and Melinda's place. The bunk bed's fit my two 17 year olds perfectly. This condo is better stocked than any I've rented before, with all the spices, tea, coffee, blankets and pillows you need. All the appliances work great and there was free Netflix! We were there during record snowfall, and Frank was a valuable resource keeping us updated on the road conditions and closures.

We loved staying at Frank's place! It is right in the middle of Kirkwood and an easy walk or shuttle ride to all lifts. The place is very well stocked and a perfect cozy retreat for our family of four! We will be back!

This is perfect for a small family of 4. We have two children and the bunk beds were great for them, but had our children been adults it may not have worked out so well. Very cozy.

Frank's studio is efficiently laid out, utilizing a queen size murphy bed and twin bunk beds makes the most out of the space. The underground parking simplified our visit amidst record snowfall.

We've stayed in the Lilac Cottage every summer for several years and always enjoy going back. The cottage is quaint, well-insulated, the bed is comfy and the yard is a delightful place to relax. We enjoy sitting the by stream and eating on the patio--lovely trees and shrubbery- . We look forward to returning there soon.

This is a little gem of a place to stay! My husband and I had a great time enjoying the many books and movies to sit and relax with, the sound of the babbling creek in the back yard, the talking of chickens, the coziness of the stone fireplace, etc. Linda was so kind to work with us about our last minute changing plans. We were able to only book for one night, and she accommodated that. Also, she was generous enough to let another couple come stay with us as well. The four of us fit comfortably in the space, but we are very good friends. Would not be the ideal privacy for four, and I think that is why the listing is for two. They had homemade cookies waiting for us, and invited us to take eggs from their chicken coop! We enjoyed those for breakfast!! There is also a grill and all the necessities in the kitchen to cook yourself a fine meal if you'd rather not eat out. We will come back here again for another kirkwood weekend for sure!

Great, cozy little cabin! Plenty of hikes around. Surprisingly, a pretty solid collection of books and VHS including a bunch of good sci-fi.

We had a great time at Linda's cottage. We loved having coffee on the porch surrounded by blue jays and starlings. Linda made a great breakfast and the cold beer in the fridge was a nice arrival surprise. Hiking in the state park and the nearby hot springs was great and we learned a lot about the area from the guidebooks in the cottage. Linda was really helpful and friendly with many suggestions for local activities.

We were really enjoying stay at this beautiful cottage and peaceful place. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone in the area for exploring, hiking, cycling, offroading, or whatever!

After a long roadtrip we arrived that the beautiful Lilac Cottage. Linda had left some home-baked cookies, fresh eggs from the local hens and a bottle of red wine. Made us feel right at home. The Cottage is located in a stunning area next to small river. The neighbours had a visit from a bear during the night (don't leave your trash out!); which added to the feeling we were out in the wild. I never fished in California before; but with good guidance from the local store I managed to catch a couple of rainbow trouts in the river behind the cottage. It took us a short while to get used to not having internet and cellphone coverage... but actually that was a godsend to get us into relaxation mode fast. What more can you wish for!? Well... probably the opportunity to stay longer! Hopefully we'll make it back some time!

Dawn was a great hostess. Loved the location, so close to the two restaurants and general store. The cabin is right on the street, however, in October was very quiet. Loved Grover Hot Springs!

Great little spot in a very cute little town. Was near enough to Tahoe to do any sports we wanted, and far enough out that we felt (and were) pretty remote. Dawn and Kevin are some of the nicest people I've met. Ever. Dawn asked us about what kinds of treats we liked before we came up and made us some great homemade hummus and some pumpkin bread. The pumpkin bread was legitimately the best bread I can remember eating. The town is very cute and remote, the hosts are amazing. Definitely plan to be back.

Dawn makes by far the best brownies I have ever tasted - my wife will vouch, too! We were also given a bottle of wine, sparkling water, and snacks for my 9-year-old. They live across the street and are happy to answer questions about the area. The space is just as described and we would definitely go there again.

Our getaway to Markleeville and this quaint studio unit was exactly what we needed. We had our 4 year old lab with us and our hiking and exploration of multiple local alpine lakes, streams and mountains was the perfect mini vacation. Dawn was an lovely host and her personal touches (wine, homemade cookies and great hike suggestions) were so thoughtful! She is a warm and very accommodating host and we plan to visit again in the fall.

All the reviews were accurate. This place is a true hidden gem. The cabin was immaculate. Dawn was super helpful, but not at all intrusive. We arrived during a storm and Dawn even took the time to look up web cameras along different possible routes to see which would be the safest way for us to get there. The cottage is just lovely. We were greeted with salted caramel brownies that were amazing. She also had farm fresh eggs and coffee and cream for us. Dawn is truly the most gracious and thoughtful host I have ever encountered. You can tell she puts a great deal of care and thoughtfulness into everything she does. We travel a lot and this was our favorite vacation.

Staying at the Miners' Mountain Inn was perfect. Dawn greeted us at the door and made us feel right at home. The place is located ~25 yards from the Main Street of Markleeville so very close to the general store, deli, and restaurants. This means it is also close to all hiking, biking and adventuring! Dawn not only had snacks, shampoo, conditioner, and refrigerator necessities, but she made us DELICIOUS fresh scones and brownies! We stayed there for a bike race and she took care of us the whole weekend. Highly recommend the Miners' Mountain Inn for a quiet getaway in Markleeville! (Also - spend some time getting to know Kevin and Dawn -- they are so wonderful!)

Dawn was extremely kind and made us feel very welcome. She even baked us delicious chocolate cookies! The place was clean and in a great location right next to town. Markleeville was extremely quaint and we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Stonefly, a restaurant in town. Would definitely recommend!

Good people run this place. Previous comments about Dawn and Kevin are spot on. We were greeted with a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies and a can of jasmine tea. The place was easy to find. It was very clean and everything worked. A+ on the bed and pillows which made for two nights of good sleep.

My friends and I had fantastic experience staying in Connie's house! The hosts are nice and friendly! Love the sharing of their experience living down there and some of the tricks of having fun! Beautiful place Higgins the Sierras. We much prefer a place that has some solitude and beautiful scenery. Very large and spacious (4600 square feet) cabin with a large bathtub/shower. John was very helpful and kind. In the winter they even have a snowcat. We are definitely coming back. Thank you John & Connie!

Stayed at Connie & John's place again. This is a hidden gem. We love it, they are very nice and great hosts! We have stayed many places and this is at the top of the list!

First of all, the response was within minutes after we requested the room. Second, the hosts, Connie and John, were the friendliest and sweetest couple with two coolest dogs you can ever meet! The property is a fantastic gateway in the wilderness just a short scenic drive from South Lake Tahoe. We loved staying there - it's so quiet, beautiful inside and out, and we can't wait to come again during the winter time. Oh, yeah, if you stay over Friday-Saturday night, you've got to check out the restaurant nearby called Stonefly (the best food hands down and authentic old-town feel experience, I promise!) Third, and most important, hurry up and hit that reservation button. Otherwise, you gonna miss out on a great experience. Thank you, Connie and John!

The house is close to Kirkwood, is beautiful and located in a very pretty area, woods and rocks all around. Would recommend to friends and would love to stay with John and Connie again.

I highly recommend staying at Connie's beautiful and peaceful house. It was very conveniently located, just a 30min scenic drive from the lake and Connie knows how to warmly welcome you. We had some tires issues and both Connie and John were very helpful and flexible. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the gorgeous house and surroundings. Our room was perfect for the 3 of us and we had the bathroom for ourselves. The view on the sky full of stars from the bed was the best after a long day driving and hiking. We will be back for sure.

We had a wonderful stay at Steve's condo. It's in a great location, just a short walk to the lifts, and it was really nice to be able to walk back to a warm, cozy space for lunch and the post-ski evenings. And being able to put our chains on in the garage and just drive out of the underground parking after 2 days of snow, instead of having to dig out the car, was a great advantage. Steve replied right away and was very responsive. He gave us all the info we needed and was available for any questions. Overall it was a great experience.

We had a great time in Kirkwood. Steve's condo was exactly as pictured and described. The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean, and the view was beautiful. Steve quickly responded to all email inquiries and provided helpful information. I would highly recommend both Steve and his Kirkwood condo.

Our family of four adults had a wonderful time at Steve's condo. The place was very clean, the kitchen a pleasure to cook in, the beds comfortable, and the living space compact but roomy enough for the four of us to relax in. It was convenient to have two full bathrooms. The view of the meadow and mountains from the living room and balcony was lovely. Wifi was available at the condo throughout our stay. Steve's communications were thorough and prompt. We would love to return sometime and would highly recommend this place to others.

We enjoyed staying at Steve's Kirkwood condo. I have stayed in many places at Kirkwood and Steve's was the best in terms of value and amenities. The kitchen is nicely remodeled with new appliances that work well. Having 2 bathrooms was a real plus. I would stay there again.

Steve did a great job communicating and providing information about the condo. The condo is steps away from the slopes and perfect for those wanting to ski Kirkwood.

Dianna made me feel very welcomed. The whole point of my trip was to hike around Lake Tahoe. After staying here I was more interested in the various forest areas near Markleeville. I spent over 5 hours hiking Lake Winnemucca. I even got to jog around the neighborhood here. The air and the tranquility is why I came to the area. I really wished I stayed another day, too bad my work got in the way I will definitely be visiting Kyle's cabin again. The breakfast here is also worth waking up for. The best part about this room is when the sun rises. I was doing my yoga poses very relaxed while in this room during sunrise. Next time I come back I will hike more around other forests. Let's get back to the room. It feels so cozy in the room itself you tend to want to stay in bed too. Even if you want to lounge around and do nothing just staying in the room as the sun rises and the sun sets is good enough.

I had an amazing time at Kyle's cabin! I stayed there for five days. Dianna was friendly, considerate and a great host. I went there to study for a big test and I sure did. The area was quiet and relaxing. I will definitely come back soon!

Dianna was the most wonderful host and lady I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. She surprises and delights you with her thoughtfulness and her easy-going style. Everything is thought of and communicated. Staying with her was like going to an unexpected retreat and I would not have wanted to be anywhere else - she made us all feel so at home and I feel we've made a friend! We were there for the Death Ride bike ride but would be back for other road trip opportunities as well and I hope she has an open room!

Beautiful property, hospitable and gracious host, delectable eats, that describes our stay at Dianna's. She had so many wonderful stories to share and when I broke my knee skiing she bent over backwards to make us even more comfortable than we already were. Ask her about some of the artifacts around the house and she turns into a docent. My only regret is that we had to end our stay early. We would definitely stay there again.

This was an amazing experience! Diana was a great host. She made myself and my mother feel like family. I will recommend her to my friends and family. I had a great time and hope to return when time permits.

Dianna is a gem of a human. She made us feel right at home and made us super comfortable. She invited us into her home, which is a magical place full of beautiful woodwork, set back into the woods. The milky way comes through clear as a bell at night, and in the mornings Dianna's baked goods had us floating. What a wonderful weekend we had at the Starlight Lodge!

Great find. We stayed here because it was close to Kirkwood Ski resort. Very good value, nice little lodge. Jeanie was on top of everything, from when we made the reservation, to when we were supposed to check in, to check out. Actually did not meet her because we checked in late, but we did meet Tod, and he was very friendly. Since we did check in late, Jeanie had everything ready for us when we got there. Would definitely stay here again. If you are going to the mountain, allow about an hour to get there. Easy to get to, just a lot of traffic close to the mountain.. Bring 4WD or snow chains. Thank you for making our first Air BnB great.

Great little spot. Close to Grover Hot Springs and about 30-40 minutes from Kirkwood. Two little places for dinner in town and a general store! Good ski spot stay.

Everything was as good as advertised. These are nice little rooms in a pleasant area. The bar/restaurant next door was very convenient for us to get a bite to eat after a long day snowboarding.

Doug's place was wonderful! Snow right up to the steps of the large common area patio, ski right up to the lifts, perfect hill next to the building for sledding, and a long trail for cross-country skiing or walking. We walked right down to the shuttle stop and we at the lifts for the kids/beginners in minutes. The room was cozy and had everything we needed. The ease and convenience of having a ski-out room was just what I needed for my birthday weekend.

Great location at Kirkwood - truly ski in - ski out. Restaurant on site, good food and reasonable prices. Doug was very good host. Would have been perfect but we came when huge storm hit and closed the mountain down. Still great place to wait out a storm at Kirkwood. Only downside was walk to the entrance from parking lot was difficult as it was covered in high snow. If you love Kirkwood definitely check out staying here!

This studio worked really well for my 2 middle school kids, my dog, and I for a 3-day weekend. The hot tub was nice, the meadow is close-by and the lifts were only 300yds away. The memory-foam bed was comfy and the place was clean. Thanks!

Michelle was an AMAZING host. We were supposed to arrive around 10pm, but didn't get in until 4 am due to road closures. I requested for a late check out so we could get some more time on the slopes and Michelle was so kind as to grant our request. She was very timely with communication as well. This is literally a 5 min walk to the ski lifts and I would highly recommend this listing!

A Perfect place for a getaway at Kirkwood Resort. Michelle's place is clean , cozy and comfortable. It is walking distance to chairs 5 and 6, or you can wait for the shuttle. Underground parking is perfect when unloading your vehicle. Take advantage of the Hot Tub and the Great room, it is a great place to meet others and relax. And the Host Michelle , will make sure you're all settled in. Great Communication.

Perfect location for skiing at Kirkwood!

A small condo with all the essentials for a ski trip get away or a hiking vacation. Pretty standard arrangements, you get what you pay for. The host will message you if needed but don't expect a response for a couple days. It gets cold here so bring warm clothes.

It was our last minute booking effort for the summer vacation and I found Jenny's cozy condo in Bear Valley. The location of the condo was just perfect within few minutes distance from Lake Alpine and Bear Lake. The condo was exceptionally clean. Jenny was available every minute when I had a question and her answer came back to me in no time. The condo has comfortable two bunker beds and additional bed, fully functional kitchen, and WiFi, etc. It was a lot more and better than I expected. Temperature was nearly 90°F during the day but mountain breeze was just more than enough to cool off our stay. My family enjoyed riding boat, hiking, fishing, and barbecuing while staying for three days and it was one of the most awesome experiences. The location is exceptionally beautiful and quiet and I would definitely recommend her condo for the family vacation spot if you would like to stay away from crowded and over priced like Tahoe etc. I also definitely would like to go there again for my winter vacation for skiing. Thanks!

The condo was all as it was mentioned in the listing. We were surprised to find the house so well furnished and well stocked in an efficient use of space. The place was fantastic and nearer to the ebbets pass. Very good place to stay for both an outdoor activities person or a quiet time with the family. Jenny has been fantastic and been very responsive. Any question is welcome with her. I like the map she sent which helped us to find the house easily. Overall, a very great stay at Jenny's place.

We were unsure of what to expect and Jenny was in constant communication. She gives great advise and can give good insight. As visitors from Maryland we were unsure of the place but definitely a great spot to unwind and get some much needed R&R.

Jenny responded quickly to any questions we had. The spot was a little confusing to find, but Jenny helped with an efficient phone call. The space looks as picture, but smaller. However, it was set up really well for such a small place.

We had a wonderful time in the Cozy Village Condo, and Jenny is very responsive. We took our kids (5 and 3) to see the snow for the first time. The location of the condo is great in relation to everything in Bear Valley, and we enjoyed being able to walk to sledding. The condo, itself, is well equipped, and incredibly well laid out, for such a small foot print. It worked well for us, but I think could be tight for 6 adults.

We stayed at the Cosy Condo for 6 days recently and it was great. The location was perfect and so quiet. We had an problem with the hot water but it was fixed while we were there. Jenny could not have been more helpful in trying to fix this issue. The Condo has everything you need for a fun stay. It is probably better suited for families with young children as the extra sleeping areas are quite small.

Our host made us feel very welcom with a sweet welcome gift and a lot of extra information about the events in the area. The condo is defiantly cozy, but perfect for our young family of five. There were great book and movie options for us, some games and toys for the kids that my family enjoyed. We also had access to sleds and snow Shoes, but were having so much fun we did not even get a chance to use them! There was ample equipment in the kitchen for basic cooking, however if you are a gourmet ( or pretend to be) you may want to bring a few extra serving dishes or larger pots to make the cooking experience a little easier.

Wonderful cabin! We were looking for a quiet, scenic place to spend the weekend, and this did not disappoint. Very clean and comfortable, and though it is in a secluded area that is off the beaten path it was perfect for what we wanted. The river and mountains on either side of the cabin are incredible, and the cabin itself is located in a perfect spot for skiing at Kirkwood or just hiking around that area. Didn't get much chance to explore the immediate area, but bet in the summer it will be fantastic.

Really lovely cabin that is very well maintained and taken care of. We really enjoyed our weekend stay here and we had a blast. We walked around the property and went for a small picnic nearby and saw the sunset and sunrise. We felt comfortable and had everything we needed! We ate dinner at Sorensens Resort one night which was only a few miles down the road. Kirkwood is about 30 mins and Cross country about 10 mins drive. We really loved spending time here and would love to come back again!

An ideal location to get away! Cozy and comfortable. We were there during bad weather and were delighted to hang in front of the fire. Don't plan for elaborate cooking as the kitchen is tight and does not have an oven. But there are charming places nearby for dining. And the bed is VERY comfy! Thanks Mike!

Mike's cottage is in a georgeous secluded location. The architecture and interior design are clean and modern. The bedding and linens were top notch and I felt as if much care was taken to create a great experience for guests. Everything was new and sparkling clean. The kitchen was well appointed. Families should know that there is a shower not a tub, the stove is a two burner portable stove that sits on the counter top, and there is only seating for two at a bar for eating. We are a family of four and we were perfectly happy cooking, eating, and playing Mike's extensive collection of board games in this charming space. The decor is modern cabin chic with beautiful textures, neutral colors, and a cohesive design. You can't imagine how soft the area rug and throw blankets are in the living room. The fireplace is the main source of heat and is very cozy. Behind the cottage is a creek that you can see from the house. The host was easy to work with, highly responsive, and kind. I highly recommend this property.

Not sure why we paid for a cleaning fee when dirty towels were left in the bathroom, clothes were left in drawers, and bath towels were placed on the table by the window. It was nice that they provided a coffee maker. It was too bad we couldn't use it because there were no cups. We used it to heat water to make tea....but I guess they didn't clean the coffee maker either, because a lot of coffee grounds came out into the water. You can ski in, but you have to hike a bit to get to the lifts. So not really a ski in, ski out. The blinds were broken and frustrating to use. Joan was also a very difficult person to reason with. We were snowed in and the people that had made the reservation that day were not coming in because the roads were closed. Hence, we couldn't leave even though we wanted to. She suggested that we sleep in the car in 15 degree weather or the lobby. She was not the highlight of our honeymoon.

Pyramid Peak did a great job communicating how to get to the property, how to get the key, and how to check out. The room was exactly as described, and was right at the base of the mountain. It was truly ski-in / ski-out — we were about a 5 minute walk to the nearest lift. I'd definitely stay here again next time I go to Kirkwood.

This spot was amazing! The lifts are right outside the building, and the view is outstanding and fun to watch the skiers come down. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is very nice. There is plenty of dresser and closet space, so as long as you unpack, the room is definitely spacious enough for four people. I can't wait to stay here again!

Dane and Jules are the best hosts- clear, communicative and always readily available. They were very kind to let us check in a little early after one of the kids got a shiner on the sled with a friend! The condo was attractively renewed, clean, and very convenient for our needs. All the furnishings and manual for usage of the info were well thought out and just - smart. Their home is remembered with fondness and it holds a lot of happy memories for us in Bear Valley! Perfect for a family of four headed to the mountains

Very nice condo, warm and cozy, near a beautiful ski resort, nice owners, very helpful. Bear Valley is also a nice place with friendly people like the store manager. The pizzeria is very good too! Prices of ski and snow shoeing passes are not expensive.

This was a perfect pick for our budget and family of four (kids 8 and 11). It is small (maybe 600 square feet) but it had everything we needed for a short snow play trip. It was super clean and has updated decor inside. It is close enough to the lodge to walk to pizza or a drink. Condo complex was super quiet on the Monday and Tuesday night we stayed. We played in the snow everyday at Round Valley snow park and had a blast.

The Loft is located right in the Bear Valley Village. We went for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding. The loft was perfect for my family of four. The kitchen is well equipped so come with groceries if you want to cook. The closest supermarket is about 15-20 minutes away. The loft is beatifully furnished, clean, and comfortable. We can't wait to come back!
