The history of Amsterdam & Netherlands through a beer glass

Join me, a beer sommelier, for an immersive 3 hour dive into Dutch beer culture and history with a pub crawl through Amsterdam’s Old Town to uncover how beer shaped Dutch history—from medieval times to the modern craft beer revolution. • We will meet in Dam Square right in front of The Royal Palace and then take a 5 minute walk to our first venue. • Our first stop will be De Pilsener Club, a cozy traditional bar that opened in 1893. Sip a classic beer as I explain beer’s impact on trade from the Middle Ages to the 17th century. • Next, head to the tasting room at In De Wildeman to enjoy a carefully chosen beer from the selection of 18 on tap and 250-plus in bottles. I’ll discuss the effects of the Industrial Revolution on commercial brewing. • Wrap up with a locally brewed craft beer at Proeflokaal Arendsnest, which has more than 50 Dutch beers on tap and more than 100 types in bottles. As we reflect on how beer styles have evolved for modern palates, you’ll leave with suggestions for more places to drink good beer in Amsterdam.

Want to learn how to make your own delicious edibles? At Get Baked Amsterdam we pride ourselves on offering a unique once in a lifetime high quality experience. We'll be meeting you at the local dispensary that we are cooperating with. Here we will buy the special ingredient together as a group. After, we will walk back to our workspace where the experience will start. We will be teaching you how to make delicious brownies (9 pieces per pair) and gummy’s, step by step. Meanwhile, we would love to educate you on the Netherlands in general, such as it’s history, culture and customs. As well as telling the story about its extraordinary relationship with cannabis. We find it of paramount importance to facilitate a safe, welcoming, and trustworthy environment for everyone who wants to participate. Even if you just would want to observe, and instead learn how to make normal brownies and gummies from scratch, you are very welcome to join. We cater to vegan and gluten-free dietary wishes but only with a minimum of 2 people since the baking takes place in pairs. These options are only for the brownies; gummies include gelatine. Please note we do NOT provide any of that special ingredient or drugs, and it is crucial to be on time. - Bring between 5-10€ p.p. extra for the dispensary - Big group or private booking? Jamaican 'dinner party with strangers' in Amsterdam

Ashs Plek (Ash's Place in English) is a pop-up restaurant serving authentic Jamaican food in a dinner party style in cool and cosy locations around Amsterdam. The concept is simple. You and your guests will join me and others around the dining table where I will serve a 3-course set menu curated to showcase the best of Jamaican cuisine. You can wash your meal down with my selection of homemade Jamaican cocktails and soft drinks or our professionally paired wines. There are three Set Menus on rotation at Ashs Plek so each dinner party and there is always a vegan friendly set menu option available (if you let me know in advance). The three course dinner costs €55. You will pay a €10 deposit through Airbnb and your final bill can be settled by cash or card at the end of your meal. We accept all major cards and contactless payments. Drinks are available to buy on the day and our menu is available on our website (search Ashs Plek online). Windmills and Countryside tour / Award winning experience

AWARD WINNING Airbnb experience in the category “Expertise”! A unique intimate all inclusive experience with insider access to the places we visit. We escape the big crowds! Escape the busy city! A few miles outside Amsterdam lays the beautiful countryside of Holland. Visit the windmills, explore old towns, taste Gouda cheese and Dutch apple pie. This is an all inclusive small group tour. We travel with a luxurious Mini Bus to our destinations. We come at places where no tourbusses can come. When the group is complete we drive north to the small historic fishermen village of Marken. Over there we have a short walk in the village where I explain some of the history. In the harbor of Marken we will stop at a local Dutch cafe for coffee, tea and Dutch apple pie. A great time to get to know each other a bit more. From Marken we drive to the wooden shoe and cheese farm. At the farm we will get a private tour how cheese and wooden shoes are made. You can try to walk on wooden shoes and taste all the different kinds of cheeses. After the experience we drive to the traditional sawmill where they still saw wood as in the old days. The windmill shows the big industrial revolution in the 16th century. Most of the time we will driving through countryside roads to our destinations. All admision, drinks and apple pie is included.
