Places to stay in Balook
The Yurt, at Tarkira Tree, is a simple, beautiful and comfortable one-room space set amongst permaculture gardens, next to the pristine rainforest of Tarra Bulga National Park. The Yurt has lovely views of the valley and is filled with original artwork by established Australian artist William Holt. A clear river flows close by and wombats, wallabies and birdlife abound. Take a true break, in breathtaking wilderness. As well as straight accommodation we offer healing reatreats.
The Yurt is peaceful, comfortable, private and relaxing, with lovely valley/wilderness all around and the rainforest at the end of the driveway. The Yurt is one open living space with an ensuite bathroom. The yurt has its own bush garden path entranceway and its own private patio with table and chairs with lovely views. Important to note - The Yurt is set on a couple of acres of permaculture gardens. Permaculture is a very different style of gardening to the normal kind and is meant to look natural and wild and to be a haven for birds, insects and wildlife. However, to many it just looks messy and unnattractive. Hopefully this information will help potential guests make choices according to their own aesthetics. USEFUL INFORMATION There are not separate bedrooms. In the open plan living space there is a comfy queen size bed and a very comfy single bed which is also used as a couch. Cooking facilities are extremely simple. The bench has a sink, a small bar fridge, an electric hotplate, sandwich toaster, ordinary toaster, pots and pans etc. PLEASE NOTE : THERE IS NO MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION IN THE VALLEY and only limited satellite wi-fi. If you need to make a call you are welcome to use the landline in the main residence. Another important note - The Yurt is completely separate from the main residence on the property. It has its own entrance and completely private views from all its windows and feels very private. However, it is close to the main residence and is joined by the extensive decking around the main house. THERAPIES/RETREATS - If you are interested in any healing/counselling sessions, please inquire. I offer reiki, lomilomi, meditation and counselling/transformation sessions using breathwork and inquiry. SALT/PEPPER ETC....You will find salt, pepper, cooking oil, tea, herbal tea, coffee and sugar in your cupboard. LINEN - All linen, bedding, towels, sheets etc are supplied. You don't need to bring anything. DRIVING HERE - There are sealed roads all the way. There is more detail in another section of this listing BUT, an important thing to note is - do not follow your GPS if it directs you down any dirt roads, unless you have a 4WD and would be happy to have an adventure. FOOD, RESTAURANTS AND CAFES Yarram is the nearest town to Tarkira Tree. It is a very pretty 20 min drive, mostly through the valley. Yarram has a major supermarket for all your food shopping needs. If you turn at the BP service station which is on the main road you will see the supermarket almost immediately. Yarram has a pub called the The Glasshouse, which is on the main road. It has decent pub meals that are quite nice. There is also a chinese restaurant, also on the main street, which similarly has quite nice/reasonably delicious meals. Yarram has a nice bakery for lunches and also a genuinely delicious café for lunches. The café is on the main road, opposite the BP service station, and is called The Federal Coffee Palace. There is also a café for lunches, at the Tarra Bulga Guest House, which is in the actual forest, at Balook, a 15 min drive away. For stylish and awesome dining, there are two options that may be available, depending on the season. Tom's Cap winery, a 35 min drive away, and open for lunch most fri, sat, sun, is delicious, scenic and gorgeous. Wildfish, a 35 min drive to the coast at Port Albert, has delicious seafood meals in a stylish restaurant on the water, in the warmer months. It is open for great fresh caught fish and chips at lunchtime for most of the year. The local caravan park, Fernholme, is a gentle 10 minute walk away and serves delicious coffees, scones, toasted sandwiches etc
The Tarra Valley is stunningly lush, semi-forested farmland, with the gorgeous Tarra River running through it. And we are right next to the pristine rainforest of the Tarra Bulga National Park, full of tree ferns and towering mountain ash. We are 35 minutes from the beginning of 90 mile beach.
  • We stayed at the yurt over the labour day weekend and had the most wonderful stay. Such a lovely, welcoming and cosy space it has everything you need and more spacious than we expected. The property is literally next to the rainforest and it feels like you are in a fairytale. Great walks, beautiful waterfalls and even for a long weekend is quiet compared to most places. Highly recommend!

  • Nullani's Yurt is an absolute gift of a space - in what can only be described as the Garden of Eden, that is the Tarra Valley. Do yourself a favour - make sure to visit Victoria's divine Gippsland (do even Melbournian's know what is right on their doorstep?!) I wanted to stay forever - such is the unforgettable blissful peace & beauty within & without this accommodation! Eternally grateful Nullani. 🌿🌳🦋❤🍃

Tarkira Tree Rainforest Retreat is a modern and simple gallery apartment filled with huge original artworks on wall and canvas, by established Australian artist William Holt. Bordering the pristine rainforest of the Tarra Bulga National Park, the retreat is surrounded by natural beauty. Walk to crystal rivers, waterfalls, fern forest and lush meadow. Come for a simple holiday or enjoy healing sessions during your stay such as reiki, lomilomi and other modalities.
The gallery style retreat house, on the edge of the pristine rainforest, is the perfect place to escape to. It offers both comfort and beauty, is filled with original artwork and surrounded by nature’s tranquility. The second bedroom has two king single beds, which can be used to sleep two people. However, they are designed to stand side by side to form a large queen size bed for a couple. They make a comfortable and stable bed in this position, however, you can tell that there is a join, unlike a mattress which is manufactured in one entire piece. Although we run healing retreats at Tarkira Tree you are perfectly welcome to book straight accommodation with no sessions of any kind. If you are interested in the meditation/healing retreats, just contact me with your inquiry. But, briefly, we specialise in offering truly affordable healing retreats. For $330 per night you can stay in the lovely accommodation and receive 3 private healing sessions with your facilitator, Nullani - one of meditation, one of reiki, and one of counselling/transformation/healing of a particular issue. USEFUL THINGS TO KNOW - IMPORTANT NOTE: THERE IS NO MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION IN THE VALLEY, AND ONLY LIMITED SATELLITE WI-FI. If you need to make a phone call you are welcome to use the landline phone in the main house near your retreat house. Important to note - The Gallery Retreat is set on 2 acres of permaculture/wilderness style gardens. This style of gardening is very different to ordinary gardening and is meant to look natural and wild and to be a haven for birds, insects and wildlife. However, to many this approach looks messy and unnattractive. Hopefully this information helps guests to feel informed and make decisions that suit their own aesthetics. FOOD, RESTAURANTS AND CAFES Yarram is the nearest town to Tarkira Tree. It is a very pretty 20 min drive, mostly through the valley. Yarram has a major supermarket for all your food shopping needs. Nestled in the sheltered garden at the rear of Rodondo BnB (search the web for this, for lots more options to stay) is Chris’s Cabin, a tiny Miners cottage hand-built by renowned Greenpeace activist Christopher Robinson. It has kitchen facilities, a king/twin sized bed, en suite bathroom, and a verandah with harbour views. Chris's has TV, a frig, air conditioning and heating and is dog friendly. A great Cafe is just across the road. Chris's Cabin is cosy and has a great view of the harbour.
  • Great place to stay in Chris's cabin highly recommended for a stay in Port Albert

On the ground floor of the Loft building at RODONDO accommodation is a charming self-contained cottage. Floors salvaged from a 19th C workers home and tall french doors onto the sunny private courtyard make this cottage special. Glimpses of the harbour may be had from the verandah. The cottage comprises a large kitchen/living room and bedroom with king sized bed and ensuite bathroom. It has TV, heating and air conditioning. Loft cottage is dog friendly and it has a fully enclosed courtyard.
  • Loft Cottage was perfect for a quiet weekend getaway. Very clean and cosy space with a gorgeous courtyard for taking in the afternoon sun that our two little dogs enjoyed playing in too. Heating and cooling plus cooking facilities made for a comfortable home away from home. Susan was a friendly and welcoming host who made everything easy for us.

    Jon2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

  • If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This was one of the best Air Bnb’s we have stayed at. So many lovely thoughtful touches including delicious free range eggs and organic bacon, fruit, chocolate, loose leaf tea and a coffee maker. We also enjoyed picking delicious plums and apricots off the fruit trees. They even left us party poppers (it was New Years Eve). We fell absolutely in love with their gorgeous dogs, Jasper and Billy, and the beautiful scenery including stunning sunsets over the hills. It was so picturesque sitting under their pergola, enjoying the bbq and my husband loved their home gym. We cannot wait to come back!

    Nicole2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • David and his wife are very friendly, helpful and hospitable people, whom it was a pleasure to stay with. The place is ideal to relax, enjoy the beautiful nature and is fairly close to i.g. a temperate rainforest national reserve and the 90 mile beach. The animals and pets just add to the charme of the romantic flair of the dairy farm. On cooler days David is very happy to help you light a fire in the fireplace and you can enjoy your meals either inside, under the pergola or in a secluded part of their beautiful garden.

    Paul2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • A place like a family environment. A cosy place for animal lovers, affordable and quiet as well.

    Kirpal2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful spot. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet with only the sounds of the resident animals around us. The space is very comfortable and has an added bonus of the fireplace already laid. The bed was very comfortable with lots of blankets to keep us warm. The bathroom is beautifully done having everything we needed. A very thoughtful touch of fresh farm eggs along with bacon and a tomatoe made a scrumptious breakfast. Thank you David and Annie.

    Cynthia2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • David and Anne were fantastic hosts. We loved their farm and our little one especially loved their friendly pups. Communication from David was exceptional. Would definitely stay here again.

My unit is close to the CBD so handy to the railway station and other public transport, the Princes Highway, golf course etc. Traralgon has tonnes of eateries, coffee shops, a few wineries and play centres. I have a queen-sized bed in a comfortable room with it's own tv. It is a quiet area despite being close to the railway line and highway. I have basic facilities so please confirm what I have to avoid disappointment.
It is in an area where you can just blend in with the other residents as I am in a block of 12 units that's reasonably private. As I'm not always there, if you have any issues that require immediate attendance by a person on the spot (like not being able to get in), I will organise this. My mum is a keyholder and lives not far away so this is possible. Just ring me and I will endeavour to make it happen. There are 3 car parking spaces available for all the units to share however they're all usually available and I will strongly encourage any guest to use one as it enables them to have off-street parking and be a little closer to the unit.
It is not particularly unique but it's my home! There are plenty of places as mentioned earlier to eat, play, etc. I'm happy to recommend certain places based on my experience. Note that there is a good major regional hospital nearby should you require urgent medical assistance. Otherwise we have plenty of medical clinics and related health services.
  • Once again another wonderful stay at Jeanette's place. I came as a guest and left making a friend! Outstanding hospitality - thank you for sharing your home, meal, jacket, and even driving me to my next Airbnb destination!! I already start to miss having a chat with Jeanette!

    E Young2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanette is a good house owner, the house is clean and comfortable, Jeanette gives me a lot of private space with my friends

    He Chun2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Jeanette's place while finding a place to rent - really clean and tidy, with really comfy bed/pillows plus a cute finishing touch to the bed :) . Although I'm essentially paying for a room, I had the whole house to myself for most of my stay as Jeanette was away for work. When Jeanette was back during the weekend, I found her a really delightful host going all out to make sure I was attended to and the place cleaned. She is really respectful of guests' privacy as well. I loved chatting with Jeanette - really easygoing and funny host - a pity we were short on time! When I'm in Traralgon and need accommodation, would 100% come back for another stay - my first choice!

Nestled on 5 acres of temperate rain forest is this fully self-contained, cosy bungalow suitable for a couple looking for a romantic retreat or someone flying solo who wants to escape the rat race. It is ‘off the grid’ yet enjoys all the mod cons including Netflix, Spotify, heating and cooling. It features an array of wildlife including resident parrots of all persuasions, a goanna, wombats, wallabies, kangaroos and lyrebirds. The bungalow is a discreet distance from Anne and Wayne’s home.
The bungalow is conveniently located only 20 minutes’ drive from Agnes Falls, Tarra Bulga National Park, the historic towns of Port Albert, Yarram and a variety of stunning beaches. Wilson's Prom is a great place to go for a day trip. The property is owned by Anne and Wayne Tindall. Your host Anne used to own the Bull Bar and Gallery in Yarram and highly recommends the new owners. Great food, live music and local wines and beers every Thursday, Friday and Saturday 4pm till late. Wayne is a practising artist and can be found in his studio on the property, most days.
There are no neighbours apart from a farmer across the road who lives (hidden) up a very long driveway. The occasional vehicle passes down the road from time to time. It is extremely quiet.
  • We loved our stay at this little gem. Was a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway and close enough for a nice drive to Wilson’s Prom. Anne and Wayne were great host, they were very accommodating and welcoming.

    Natasha2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We were in deep need of a weekend away from the city - Anne’s place offered everything we needed and more. The place was clean, had all amenities needed and felt very private. It was wonderful driving through the towns in the area and visiting Tarra-Bulga national park. Would highly recommend! Thanks so much!!

  • Perfect place to get away from hustle and bustle. Beautiful nature setting in Eucalyptus and gum tree forest with plenty of birds around and attentive hosts. Good base to visit Tarra Bulga Rainforest, Wilson's Prom, Lakes Entrance etc. Little walks also accessible on foot from the hut. Thanks for having us!

  • A fantastic little cabin in a very secluded and beautiful part of the world. Anne's communication was excellent and she welcomed us with a few complimentary items on arrival. Remote and quiet space; and the parrots were particularly special. Would stay again.

    Jordan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, peaceful space. Anne was very welcoming and we had everything we needed for cooking. We just wished it was a bit closer to Wilson’s Prom (1.5hr drive) as that is the main reason we went but we did get to see some other places such as 90 mile beach and Agnes Falls.

    Manne2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for our getaway. We brought our dog who loved the open space. We went for a walk around their property which had amazing spots all over it! Anne and Wayne’s tourist suggestions were awesome as well! Highly recommend Agnes Falls and Woodside beach and Welshpool jetty all only short drives away! Anne and Wayne themselves are beautiful people with an awesome bar that is worth checking out in Yarram.

    Yangyang2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a wonderful place to stay! Amazing views over the farm and the valley - the sunset was incredible. And in the morning we were offered delicious homemade apricot jam from the orchard and introduced to all the animals on the farm. Thanks so much for the great hospitality! Merci beaucoup je recommande absolument cette destination aux voyageurs francais!

  • 5 stars is not enough! Giselle's hospitality is like no other and the place a beautiful sanctuary to get away from the real world for a while

    Damon2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Giselle's place was an absolute dream. The accommodation had a treehouse feel and stunning views of the farm. It was comfortable and well equipped and Giselle was quick to respond to any of our requests. Upon arrival Giselle let us know about the animals on the property and welcomed us to explore the orchard and farm. The accommodation is close by to the beautiful Tarra-Bulga national park, which was lovely to explore upon a recommendation by the host. Had a fantastic stay and would recommend to anyone wanting a quirky get away out of the city.

    William2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Giselle was a fantastic host and conversationalist. We had a great time with the superb hospitality provided. We enjoyed a relaxing time away from the every day hum drum of city life and were able to completely appreciate the beauty surrounding us on this stay. Everything we needed was provided, and communication was easy and swift. Definitely recommend a stay here if you're looking for a relaxing stay. Horse cuddles were an added bonus!

    Kym2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Giselle was amazing. We loved chilling with the animals downstairs outside (they are very friendly, although easy to avoid if you're not into that), and enjoyed magical views of the sunset from the farm stay upstairs. The stay is beautifully decorated with artsy and poetic touches, it was a dream. It was a bit warm in the stay when we arrived (as can be expected when its 40 degrees outside), but after Giselle opened some windows it cooled down very quickly, so we didn't even have to use the air cooler that she provided. One of the best places we've ever stayed, highly recommend this place!

    Floris2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this experience, will definitely be back again. The view from the main room is amazing, with a beautiful dawn view. The little chicks running around are so cute. Very friendly hosts that are also respectful of privacy. Comfortable bed. Nice cool breeze in the summer evening. Thanks Giselle!

  • I had lived at her place for almost 3 weeks. The price is affordable compared to others in the surrounding area. The room is clean and cozy. I didn't feel cold even in winter. Especially, you have a private bathroom. Ami is very helpful. She is sometimes quiet but always tries to make guests feel comfortable. The biggest issues maybe the wifi signal is unstable due to that room is the furthest to the router. I'll book her room again if I travel to Morwell

  • We really appreciated this little place, peaceful and far enough away from it all. The lovely breakfast items provided were home made produce, milk and eggs from the farm - wonderful! Melinda welcomed us and our dogs with a good tour of the cottage. The photos are pretty accurate. Such a lovely spot to relax in, thank goodness for that air con though as it was over 40 degrees on one day! Loved watching the little calves having so much fun with mothers in the field below. A trip to Tarra Bulga Park is a must and only a few minutes drive away.

  • Great location, near to Yarram and an easy drive to Tarra Bulga National Park, Port Welshpool, Port Albert, Woodside Beach, and much more. There is so much to explore in this area and then you get to come home to this idyllic property. The view is second to none, looking out onto the dam and cattle. Perfect for relaxing over dinner or wine. You won't be disturbed here and you have complete privacy from the main house. Melinda was very accommodating and was sure to show us where everything was in the house. You have everything you need here, including delicious breakfast provisions and big tubs of toys for the little ones. We stayed with our toddler and baby and we were all very very happy. It is clear Melinda loves being a host and you definitely feel that when you meet her and enter the property.

  • Melinda’s Airbnb is the absolute bees knees. We stayed here for four weeks and Melinda made us feel as if we were at home and a part of the local community instantly. There is so much to explore in the area. We saw local wildlife on the farm/surrounding dirt roads including kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and lots of birds. Of course there are also the lovely cows and nearby llamas, deer and horses to enjoy looking at too. Beaches are closeby as are local bushwalks, wineries and trail biking tracks. Our small dog loved his stay here too. The actual dairy cottage is spotless in terms of cleanliness and presentation. We enjoyed using the fireplace and waking up to beautiful views every morning and watching the sunset every evening. The kitchen is well equipped with more than everything one could ever need. The shower is nice and warm, the beds are comfortable, there is plenty of room for lounging and relaxing, the house is warm when it’s cold outside and cool when it’s hot outside. We loved it and could live here permanently.

  • Melinda couldn't have helped more! Everything was thoroughly explained, everything was accommodated. Perfect place for a tranquil couple days away. Personal touches like eggs and milk from the farm and lovely banana bread made us feel special. Special thank you from our fur babies who loved their walks around the property and curling up near the fire.

    Pauline2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Melinda goes above and beyond to create the most beautiful bnb. Absolutely gorgeous place to stay with a stunning outlook over the farm. Wonderful host who provides cake, eggs, bread, sausages, cordial etc. This was our second time staying and we loved it even more than the last! Also all the little cows throughout the cottage are fantastic! We stayed with our horses and cat- it’s the perfect spot to holiday with your furry friends. We will be back again!

  • Amazing place, we stayed one night only but it would be worth saying a few days. Melinda had a very bad day but made sure we had everyting anyway ! Best breakfast we have had with fresh products locally sourced and homemade. She was an excellent host and the place is unique and lovely. Will come back !

    Charlene2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mel and Len's place is very comfortable. There are great views of the Devon Valley from the living room and the farm produce for breakfast is a lovely touch.

    Deb2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Dairy Cottage is the most beautiful relaxing place. Melinda’s hospitality is second to none, from the delicious cake and welcome on arrival, the fresh milk, sausages, jam and sensational chutney. We felt at home and relaxed from the minute we walked in. The view of the paddocks with the cows, the lovely warm fireplace and the amazing attention to detail with the decoration of the cottage is what makes this place so amazing. We loved it all !! Thank you again, Heath and Jeanetta

  • Such a great experience! We only stayed for a night but we look forward to go back again. Walter was very thoughtful to tell us to shop food for BBQ in the nearby town. He has all facilities you can expect. Everything is clean and the views from their place is spectacular! Great people in a great location.

  • I truly enjoyed my stay with Qin and Wally, the location is amazing and just the views are worth the trip. They welcomed me very warmly and made sure that I took the most of my experience there. I enjoyed spending time with Wally around the farm and checking for stars and satellites at night! Also, Qin was very generous to share her yoga and meditation practice with me. Thank you!

  • Deb’s place looked already amazing in the pictures, but it was even better in real life. The apartment is very modern with a stylish decor and high quality appliances. It was also sparkling clean. The view was wonderful, so we had a hard time to actually leave the apartment for our daily trips. While it’s a perfect place as a quite retreat, it was quite easy to get to. We will definitely return!

The place is immaculate with all the essentials and the perfect view of the farm, cows, bull, horse and cat. The homemade bread is soo yummy and the view from the bedroom and the bathroom is on point. I highly recommend this hot spot!! Ps. If you guys are driving at night, best to drive slowly to avoid killing a possum/wombat.

The Cottage is located at the edge of Traralgon, only a few minutes from the Princes Hwy. We have a beautiful bush setting (although we do have neighbours) and are close to restaurants and shops, and two takeaway shops are within walking distance. You’ll love my place because of the cosiness, the people, it is like you are in the bush not at the edge of the town. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
We have two bedrooms - a queen size bed in one and a double and single in the other, we also have a portable cot and have two single mattresses if needed. We are happy to answer any question that you have before booking, before coming or during your stay. Ignore the picture of the bed in the lounge it’s now gone.

    Scot2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Liesel’s place was very clean and a fairly decent size. She was very lenient when it came to extras staying, she was very fast at responding to messages, and made my first Airbnb experience enjoyable. There was a small issue with her family’s response to our noise levels, but she apologised and so did our group so everyone was fairly happy. Definitely recommend Liesel’s place for a group of people, however if you are a noisy bunch thinking of staying, I would advise to keep it quiet or stay somewhere else to avoid any issues .

  • Amazing experience staying at Callignee 2. We struggled to choose between sleeping in the master bedroom or the loft bedroom. We ended up spending a night in each and loved them both! Phenomenal architecture and a complete bush feel. We loved everything about it!

  • Great Airbnb super close to the Tarra Bulga nation park (high recommend a walk through the beautiful fern gully)! Really comfy beds! Just be aware there’s a lot of light in the morning, I personally thought it was beautiful and such a relaxing way to wake up. Great spot for couples!

  • Wonderful space and location. The hosts were exceptional with check in/ out and always available for questions or to provide advice. Honestly- I think this was the best Airbnb experience I have had. Thank you!!

  • This place is amazing. Off the grid and no wi-fi. A completely relaxing experience in a beautifully designed home, nestled thoughtfully in the bush.

  • If you are after an escape/ retreat surrounded by amazing surroundings then I highly recommend Callignee 2. We stayed and had a couple of very hot days where we could enjoy the pool, then a cool one where we could watch the rain whilst we sat in front of the fire. Beds were cosy, a big comfy couch...And the highlight was the feeling of being outdoors whilst indoors. We loved staying there. Highly recommend!

  • If you want peace, privacy and beautiful accommodation then you need to stay at Koornalla. The hosts are so welcoming and give you space to relax and take in the beauty of the surrounds. Comfy bed, amazing shower and central heating for a visitor from the tropics, certainly was a treat. This is by far the best place I have stayed at. Thanks Megan & Shane for sharing your place for others to enjoy.

  • Megan’s guesthouse was simply perfect. Such a lovely escape from the city, the photos don’t do it justice. A big bean bag to hang out on, very comfortable bed upstairs, lots of nice touches with tea, coffee, jams and spreads for breakfast. Even a spot to put the ice cream :) Our only regret is not staying longer!

BEAUTIFUL COSY FAMILY HIDEAWAY - FREE WIFI AND FOXTEL plus... THE AMAZING AND HISTORIC "LONG JETTY" HAS NOW BEEN REOPENED AND IS A MUST VISIT IN THE TOWN.
THE RETREAT- HOME AWAY FROM HOME …. (FREE WIFI and FOXTEL Incl SPORTS) - BEAUTIFUL TO SUIT A BUDGET Port Welshpool is a hidden gem and undiscovered by many as it is off the main road. Ideal spot for a family holiday. A major attraction in the area is the fully restored and historic Port Welshpool Long Jetty...a must visit and family friendly jetty and beach surrounds. You can be as busy as you wish or relaxed as you may need:)..there are so many things to do and see for adults and kids alike including great fishing, lovely beaches as well as bike tracks or if you like to walk or hike....this area is for all to enjoy and is so unspoilt in comparison to may areas within easy reach of Melbourne. Come stay and enjoy at a price we have set so a break is affordable to all -all we ask is that you treat the house as your own in return and clean on departure. Many thanks! The house has beautiful wooden cathedral ceilings with delightful character. A reverse cycle air conditioner for summer and winter comfort and great heating for those cosy winter nights and there is also a wood heater (wood not provided now as it would weirdly "disappear" when we did) We also now have FREE WIFI and FOXTEL available Two good size bedrooms one with a comfy double bed (including an LCD TV in the main bedroom) and the other with a double bed with a single bunk above so comfortably sleeps 5. There is a large lounge / open living plan with kitchen with absolutely everything you will need along with microwave, Aldi Coffee maker and lots of bench space and walk in pantry. There is a 42" HD LCD TV along with the Foxtel Entertainment Package for your enjoyment which includes 9 Sports Channels for the boys (including Fox Sports) and a Blu Ray DVD player with some DVDs in the cabinet. Along 2 full sides of the house is a delightful covered verandah that gets lots of sun and shade (not to mention the peaceful outlook lovely to view the native birds) -a lovely area to have breakie or have a drink or BBQ in the eve- there is a gas BBQ available. We have Monopoly, Scrabble and cards to play which we often do!! If you have a boat there is lots of room on the large easily accessible corner block with the hotel, store, beach and jetty just 2 or so minutes walk away. – So bring the kids fishing rods ATTRACTIONS IN THE AREA (and Things to do just to name a few) The brand new and famous (now totally restored) Port Welshpool Long Jetty Wilsons Prom Agnes Falls Toora Wind Farm Tarra Bulga National Park – Wow! Port Albert (Historic Fishing Village) Lovely Cafes in Foster and Yarram Great Fishing and Swimming Wildlife galore Lovely Walkways and Tramping options Historic Museums NOTE: All you will need is your own Linen, towels and toiletries etc and due to the budget rates in a lovely holiday home you are asked to PLEASE CLEAN ON DEPARTURE for the next "relaxees" we know those that book will... as we trust people appreciate the price we offer to make it affordable for all to stay..THANKS HEAPS :) PETS: Also please note we do not allow pets after three VERY bad experiences. We used to welcome the family pet as we have animals ourselves, but many dollars later with repairs we have had to make due to irresponsible people we have now changed our policy - apologies to all the responsible pet owners out there. WELCOME TO PORT WELSHPOOL -VICTORIAS SECRET A LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN The Port and surrounds Port Welshpool is a lovely drive of about 90 minutes from Cranbourne once you hit the Sth Gippsland Highway and is in an undiscovered "peaceful paradise" just a short drive from beautiful and unspoilt Wilsons Prom. We own our lovely "home away from home" (well the bank does) and instead of tenanting it we decided to share our little paradise with likeminded people who will enjoy this lovely area as much as we do. "The Port" is a very historic part of Victoria and has an all weather/ all tide boat ramp (1 minute drive from the house) with great fishing from the jetty or the wharf and also very safe swimming and paddling from the lovely sandy beach. The Port is also the entrance to the Prom either by boat or by a short drive so you can explore at will or just relax and there are also MANY other beautiful attractions in the area. There is a great General Store which has all your needs or supermarkets 20 minutes away in Foster or Yarram. Fishing is hugely popular in the area. Wilsons Promontory National Park and the islands of Corner Inlet can be reached by launch or sailboat from the port. There is a launching ramp and boats can be hired locally. Hog deer, an endangered species in their native Asia, have been introduced into a State game reserve on Snake Island, in order to bolster their numbers. The Port Welshpool Museum, open daily, features marine displays and an unusual assortment of maritime curios. The house, built in 1881, was one of the first substantial dwellings to be constructed at Port Welshpool. The builder, J. Avery, had to walk 21 miles from Port Albert every Monday, and returned by foot each weekend. It is thought to be one of the oldest buildings in the shire of South Gippsland. On the lawn is the fishing boat, the Janet Isles, which was used by the house's owners, the Smith family, for several generations. Barry Beach, a few kilometers west, is a supply base for the oil rigs of Bass Strait. Steel platforms are constructed here and towed into the strait, where piles are driven through the hollow legs and a deck is welded on. An observation area, overlooking the terminal, has been organised. The area was reputedly named after jack-of-all-trades, John Baragwanath, who owned land at the mouth of the Agnes River. Skilled at ironwork, photography, and surveying, he manufactured his own camera and telescope and assisted the locals in the guises of an informal doctor, a legal counselor, and a bush dentist - always carrying a set of forceps with which to yank out troublesome teeth. Harold Lasseter - the man who made and prompted numerous expeditions to central Australia by claiming that a mother lode of gold, known as Lasseter's Reef, was there to be mined - lived in the area for his last thirty years. He died returning from one of his own trips in about 1931 The township of Welshpool, a few kilometers to the north, relies upon the dairy and wool industries. 9 km north-west of Welshpool you can visit one of the highest waterfalls in Victoria at the Agnes Falls Reserve, where the river plunges 60 m over the gorge. The damming of the river above the falls ensures the water supply Welshpool and other local towns. Walking tracks, picnic and barbecue facilities are available. To get there, head west along the highway and turn off at Slades Hill Road, near the school. The route is signposted. Return via Toora for maximum scenic value. • Kerry Jo and Ezra’s place was absolutely lovely. In terms of location: We wanted somewhere to stay whilst doing day trips around the area (eg to Wilson’s Prom - could not recommend highly enough, this national park was one of the most beautiful places we had ever been) and the Airbnb was approx a 1 hr drive away from the park’s entrance, and only a couple of hours from Melbourne. Welshpool itself was lovely - I would recommend walking out along the historic long jetty for a peaceful view of the sea! Our hire car actually broke down in the town and the local shop owners and mechanic were so friendly and helpful. In terms of the property: The exterior of the property was lovely - I don’t think the pictures do it justice. There was a little verandah with decking and a bench for sitting out on. The rooms were all functional and nice! The kitchen was very well stocked in terms of appliances, but also basic cooking necessities eg. oil, salt, pepper. The bathroom also had some shampoo and body wash which was a nice touch. The living space was nice enough, with a TV (with lots of channels), DVD’s and speakers! In terms of the hosts: All of our communication with Kerry Jo and Ezra was great - they replied very promptly and were so helpful and lovely to interact with. They also managed to accommodate us around some plumbing work they were having in the house (at short notice) which was amazing. We would very highly recommend this stay!

  • I booked the accommodation for my parents who were going on a day trip around Wilson's Prom. The house is very close to the jetty and pub. My parents had a great time and would recommend booking the house if you would like a relaxing holiday or doing things in and around The Prom.

  • Beautiful property which reflects the beautiful hearts we were welcomed by. Li Qin and Walter were amazing hosts that definitely made as us feel at home

    Zeina2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Qin and Walter are very genuinely warm and friendly hosts. Walter is always up for a chat and is happy to give a tip or two about local attractions. They treated us like friends rather than guests throughout our stay there. They provide a luxurious kitchen with anything and everything you can think of.. it's a chefs paradise if you're interested in cooking 🙂 The farm house is ideally located in between the hills with spectacular views from the deck. There's a beautiful sunset viewing point just 500 metres from the house. It's more of a home than just an AirBnB... Highly recommended and totally worth it :)

  • We've had such a lovely stay at your place. We arrived early in the afternoon which meant we had time to all go out together. I can recommend this to anyone !!! We had such a great time also meeting your friends. It felt as if we had come home. We laughed a lot. Made diner together (lovely experimental diner!) and left as friends. If we ever can we will defenitely come back :)

  • Great location, friendly hosts, peaceful

    Shay2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We could never have imagined how beautiful Qin and Walter's place was and how hospitable they both were. We've stayed in many AirBnB's across Australia and this was by far up there with the best. From the moment we stepped through the front door we felt right at home and relaxed by the fire sharing stories over Walters homemade 'pea & ham-hock soup' which was amazing. We left with having made two new friends and will definitely be back in the summer to enjoy some of those local waterfalls. Thanks again for having us guys!

It has a kitchen/living room, a large bedroom with a king sized bed and a single bed, and a charming attic bedroom for children, with three single beds. Starboard Cottage is part of Rodondo accommodation (search the web for this, for lots more options to stay) Great for couples and families.

Trish was very welcome, she also offered us a delicious hot pumpkin soup. A big plus for an animal-lovers like us, there are 2 dogs and 1 cat in the house, all are extremely cute and friendly. Definitely a big thumbs up, highly recommended!

Immaculate 3 bedroomed home on over 3 acres of lawns and natural bush with a creek running through it. Secure fenced area for dogs and children to play. Get back to nature and enjoy secluded, natural environment for all your family. Right next to the Grand Ridge Rail Trail and only 5 minutes from Mirboo North.
Beautiful, well maintained property with everything you need to relax. Wood burner stove and plenty of firewood to have an outside fire in the firepit too. Relaxed bush setting. Ideal for the family that wants to get away but still have all the amenities.
Mirboo North is a lovely, friendly little township with some good local restaurants. There are also local farms to buy produce as well as easy access to great cycling and walking routes
  • Serene, relaxing and homely house. Very comfortable, both inside and out. Handy touches throughout by Tish, couldn’t have been a more than pleasant stay.

  • Supper supper fantastic, don’t bother looking at other places, the services provided are fantastic the view is very nice, the little things that are there are fantastic, free nbn, good decking with mowed area below it, nice area for children to play in, good kitchen, full sized fridge, it just just one of the best little places around we had 5 adults and it was quite comfortable.

  • Had big plans to explore and hike and go on adventures but Tish's place was so comfy we spent the whole time at home. The doggos had a blast running around the block (but watch out for grass seeds in the paws) and we had a beautiful, relaxing recharge weekend. Beautiful home for a bargain. Thank you 💚
