We’re high up on the hill yet close to art and culture, great views, restaurants and dining, family-friendly activities, skiing, Bennington, Manchester VT close by. Williamstown Mass not far. A huge yard. You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the light, the comfy bed, the well equipped kitchen, privacy and views, the extreme quiet and relaxation. Gorgeous waterfalls and stream, hiking. Fire pit! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets). 420 friendly!
One room cottage with full kitchen and bath. Beautiful views, acres to explore including a stunning mountain stream with waterfalls. Privacy with 2 4x8' Windows make you feel one with nature. The curtains are sheer and allow morning light in. Big lawn with fire pit and plenty of woods to wander through. There’s a sofa bed for 1 too. See more pics on our IG Page - Infinity_vermont
High up on a steep hill the privacy and views are wonderful. Very little traffic goes by. Please if you're traveling in winter- this is Vermont! We often get lots of snow. The roads here are well maintained but we're up on a steep hill. Please consider booking in snow months only if you have 2 snow tires and/or all wheel drive. While they do plow often, I cannot guarantee you can get up the hill in a regular low, city type vehicle. I will not let anyone be stranded on our road, so in the worst storms I can help make arrangements. I drove Saabs with snow tires for years, but now I drive a Honda CRV with all season tires. I never have any problems personally. Thanks!
  • A cozy cabin set back off grid with everything you’ll need. The bed is just as comfy as other rave about. The on site tiny adventures and sights are great for mornings. And you can’t forget the fluffy tour guide Huxley. We and both our dogs had a great time and I would recommend this quiet cabin for a get away.

  • We could not have had a better experience staying at MaryJanes cabin! The listing is incredibly accurate. Perfect for a couples getaway, the cabin was cozy but still spacious & comfortable. MaryJane had plenty of suggestions & was always available for communication. The final road in the commute to the cabin can be a little rough, but we were warned & prepared. You’d definitely want to travel in an AWD vehicle. However, if I’m being completely honest- the best part was being greeted by Huxley, the estate pup, each morning. We took this gentle giant on a walk around the property also! Highly recommend for a winter weekend escape. Thank you MaryJane for your wonderful hospitality!

  • My husband and I (and our dog) had a wonderful weekend. Beautiful location and comfortable cabin! Thank you, Mary Jane!

    Jennifer2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane is a great host! We were able to get in touch with her very easily. The cabin is super cute and gives just the right amount of privacy. Huxley and our dog had lots of fun playing together. We really loved staying here!

    Juliana2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • MaryJane was a great host! Super quick responses to our questions. The area was perfect for snowshoeing and had some beautiful views. We stayed during a very cold weekend but the heating provided to us was more than enough. We’d absolutely stay again.

    Julian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Private, quiet, good place to just relax. Would recommend.

    Brandon2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane's cabin was beautiful! Very clean and well kept, just liked the listing says. The location was great too, kind of off-grid but close to towns and other bigger areas. She was very helpful with local tips regarding places to check out. And Huxley was a great visitor, sweet pup! I definitely recommend this place particularly if you are looking to travel with your dog.

    Annie2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane’s cabin is just as awesome as she is! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning!!

This newly-renovated historic schoolhouse overlooks our family's regenerative organic farm. The Schoolhouse is bright & open, with a modern design & peaceful, rustic feel. It is the perfect place to relax & enjoy a country setting with views of the Green Mountains in every direction. We have just added a new private deck at the Schoolhouse property, with a hot tub & panoramic barrel sauna. Come to unwind, cook, & enjoy a quintessential Vermont experience on our 270 acre property.
OVERVIEW This 800 square foot house is open and filled with natural light. It has vaulted ceilings, wood floors, concrete countertops, bright windows, and two large decks that look out over the farm and the mountains to the west. Most nights, the view of the sunset is spectacular. ///////// If you scroll through the listing photos, the last three images show layouts of the house inside and out, to give you a sense of the space. ////////// BEDROOMS There are two queen beds in the house: one in a private downstairs bedroom, and one in an open loft bedroom above the living area. (The peak of the loft bedroom is just over 6 feet, so taller guests will be more comfortable in the downstairs bedroom.) There is also a full-size futon in the living area that can be made up to accommodate an additional two guests. WIFI & TV The house has wifi and a "Smart TV" (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO, etc. streaming for your devices). There is NO cable/live TV nor DVD. We also have small portable speakers so you can listen to music indoors and out. KITCHEN The kitchen is well equipped with major appliances and cooking tools. We get a lot of questions about which specific kitchen items are available, so we've made a detailed list, and posted it at the end of the listing photos, with the house layouts. If you scroll backwards from the listing photo, you will see the kitchen list right away. DECKS & YARD AREA Outside, there is a large attached deck with an outdoor dining table and chairs where you can enjoy a meal al fresco. We have a propane grill set up, and our pasture-raised meat for sale, if you'd like to prepare your own farm-to-table dinner. The yard has a fire pit and seating, as well as room for yard games. HOT TUB, SAUNA, & OUTDOOR SHOWER The hot tub, sauna, and outdoor shower are located on a separate, elevated deck adjacent to the house. This deck is private to the Schoolhouse, and about 20 feet from the front door of the house. We recommend bringing sandals, slippers or other slip-on shoes to walk to the deck in the winter when there's snow! The sauna and hot tub are available for use year round. The outdoor shower is available between May-September. LOCATION The house is located 3 miles down a well-maintained dirt road. It is a 10-15 minute drive to North Bennington and Bennington where you'll find dining, shops, and groceries, and a 25-30 minute drive to Manchester where there are designer outlets, recreation, and fine dining. ABOUT OUR FARM The Schoolhouse looks out over our family's 4th-generation farm—5th if you count shepherds under the age of 5. We use no chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, etc.) on the land. We practice regenerative agriculture—using our sheep, chickens, turkeys, bees, and perennial fruit and forage crops to make sure our farm's ecosystems and animals remain fed, protected, strong, and resilient. For a peek at the farm, you can check out @studiohillvt on Instagram, or search the web for Studio Hill Farm.
The house is located 3 miles down a well-maintained dirt road. It is a secluded location, but there are a wide variety of dining and activities within 15-30 minutes of the farm. It is a 10-15 minute drive to Bennington where you'll find dining, shops, and groceries, and a 25-30 minute drive to Manchester. We have TONS of local recommendations in our Airbnb GUIDEBOOK. Click "View Guidebook" to see a map of our favorite dining, shopping, and activities in the area. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about specific activities you're interested in. This is a beautiful part of Vermont, with loads of hiking, recreation, state parks, skiing, arts, and activities nearby. We're also about 15 minutes from Bennington College. Bromley Mountain, 35 minutes (Alpine skiing/riding) Stratton Mountain, 45 minutes (Alpine skiing/riding) Magic Mountain, 45 minutes (Alpine Skiing, tubing) Mount Snow, 50 Minutes (Alpine Skiing) Prospect Mountain, 20 minutes (Nordic skiing/snowshoeing) Wild Wings, 45 minutes (Nordic skiing/snowshoeing) Viking Ski Touring (Nordic skiing/snowshoeing)
  • Our stay was incredible! Caroline’s home is beautiful and thoughtfully curated. We were able to check out all of the local goodies and enjoy the onsite amenities i.e. hot tub and sauna 🧖‍♀️ 🧖‍♂️ We will absolutely visit again soon!

  • Such a fun space and we LOVED our stay. Caroline was great and very responsive. The space is so well decorated and had everything we needed. Also, we all (kids included) had so much fun with the amazing view from the hot tub and sauna. Can't wait to come back!

    Abby2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Caroline’s place! The Schoolhouse is incredible and the pictures don’t nearly capture all of the thoughtful touches, like farm fresh eggs, homemade chocolates and goat milk soap upon arrival. The space itself was cozy and clean with so much natural light from the windows overlooking their many sheep! The outdoor sauna was an amazing experience and highly recommend staying here during winter where you can look out at the snow from a warm little pod.

    Casey2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was absolutely exceptional! If you are looking don’t hesitate to book! I put together a little blog post about our time at gabbyyjeann.com! I highly highly recommend this incredible cozy schoolhouse!

  • My wife and I stayed in this cute place for the night before heading to Mount Snow. I wish our visit wasn’t so short as we loved this place. Gail was super responsive and provided all necessary information for our stay. The place was spotless, and has all the essentials. The jacuzzi tub was super relaxing. Would stay here again!

    Randall2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! The best part is the hot tub after a long day of skiing, it was so relaxing! Love how quiet the neighborhood, really great escape from the city life. Also the scenery to get there was just beautiful! Clean and spacious place. Gail was quick with communication and was able to accommodate an early check is for us. Definitely recommend staying here.

    Christian2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A very cozy and comfortable stay! Everything was sparkling clean and neat upon arrival. Gail even provides coffee, tea, and snacks. Definitely recommend!

    Rachel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I begin.. Gail is more than a Super Host. She was incredibly helpful as I was planning this trip for my girlfriend and I. From restaurant recommendations to florists for Valentine's Day, she always supplied me with fantastic options. Not to mention, she helped surprise my girlfriend with flowers by picking them up and staging them in our room before we got there! Beyond her wonderful hospitality, The Octopus' Garden is the perfect stay for two! Located conveniently close to almost everything you need for a quick getaway (restaurants, bars, shops, etc.). Once our car was parked, we walked everywhere! The impetus of our trip was to ski/ride all weekend up at Mount Snow which was an easy and quick 30 minute drive from our place. Made for super easy back and forth drives! The jacuzzi was incredible to come home to after long days on the hill! Will absolutely be back. Thanks again for everything, Gail! :)

Cozy Vermont mini-house Convenient to the Clark Art Institute, Mass MoCA, & Bennington, VT
Owl Hill House is an organically shaped structure built by a group of sculptors in the early 1980’s and recently renovated by one of its original creators. Its 570 square feet interior is bright, airy and cozy with hand-plastered, sculptural, white walls and custom built-in furniture. It is set in a tranquil clearing surrounded by beautiful trees on a private Vermont dirt road, and is the perfect base for exploring northern Berkshire County’s cultural gems and southern Vermont’s picturesque towns and natural beauty, or to just relax and leave the rectilinear world behind. Location The house is in Pownal, VT and is convenient to The Clark and Williams College (10 minutes), Mass MoCA (20 minutes), and Bennington, VT (10 minutes). The Space There is a main space with a seating area, a sleeping nook with a queen-sized bed, and a kitchen. The bathroom has a shower and a custom-made bench. A small utility room has a washer/dryer. There is high-speed Wi-Fi. The exterior landscaping is still in progress. Owl Hill Road The house is 0.1 miles up a dirt road shared with 4 houses. The road is regularly maintained but can have a few rough spots. In the warm months, it’s fine for any vehicle. In the winter and early spring good snow tires are highly recommended, and All Wheel Drive or 4-Wheel Drive are optimal. After a snowstorm, or in icy conditions, you may have to leave your vehicle at the bottom of the hill and walk up – it's a 4-5 minute walk. Winter in Vermont can often be an adventure! ***** Sorry, no pets. No smoking ***** --------------------------------------------- COFFEE: The house has a coffee grinder, and a French Press. We do not supply coffee beans or tea. --------------------------------------------- PANTRY: We stock the house with salt, pepper, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, flour and sugar.
  • This place is so unique and charming! Mark was very helpful with suggestions for activities in the surrounding area and it was just as fun to stay inside this whimsical structure for the weekend. It was SO CLEAN and well maintained. The dirt road was a but muddy and treacherous BUT doable. I recommend this stay to anyone who enjoys peace, simplicity, and nature! One of my favorite stays on this app.🍄

    Kaitlyn2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mark’s place was cozy and perfect for a winter weekend escape from NYC. Couldn’t have asked for more!

    Jenn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mark's place is great. An interesting design which feels large inside. the house is in close proximity to north adams and perfect for anyone visiting mass moca

    Jim2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The mushroom house is a marvel: it's exceptionally cozy and warm; it's tucked away high on a hill but is a short drive from Williamstown and North Adams; and it's a great place to see the night sky. Every part of the mushroom house, down to the nice mugs in the kitchen, seems to have been carefully considered. The only negative thing about our stay at the mushroom house was having to leave :). Mark and Rachel were really friendly and accommodating hosts. Thanks to both of you for providing such a unique place to stay!

    Jamin2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, cozy home.

  • This space is perfect for recharging the soul. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

    Keith2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and tucked away, but 10 minutes from major gas station/convenience store and 15 from a few great restaurants/markets/coffee shops. The space felt much bigger than its 570 square feet, we even considered entertaining two friends while we were in town. Stocked with some books and games and basics for cooking and cleaning if necessary. Bed is large enough and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped with Cuisinart and Le Creuset products, gas stovetop and large sink. The bathroom is spacious and stocked with all necessary basics. Small propane stove kept the place way warmer than you’d expect. Parking for two out front (at least in the winter months). The single best Airbnb stay we’ve had. Weird and beautiful but not gimmicky at all. Mark has thought of everything.

  • This Airbnb was absolutely adorable, perfectly clean, and all-around lovely. We did come during the winter months so we parked at the bottom of the hill and had no trouble walking up the dirt road to the house. The plows did come through quickly and the road was well-maintained, we just didn’t want to risk the hill in our old van. The space itself is so cozy and beautiful. It was really a wonderful stay!

Our cabin was built for family, friends, and guests to relax and enjoy an unobstructed view of the green mountains in the heart of Vermont. You won't find a more beautiful place to call home during your stay. Our cabin is off the grid, NO running water or indoor plumbing, but it’s comfortable and has been enjoyed by 100’s of Airbnb travelers. We have a super quiet generator that offers power when you need and want it. Guests do have to bring their own water and in the winter must walk in.
Please be mindful this cabin is off the grid. ***Read This: WINTER RENTERS MUST WALK TO CABIN WHICH IS ROUGHLY 500 yards & a Winter worthy vehicle is a must ... summer tires will not make it to parking spot ... all wheel drive or 4X4**** This location gets a lot of snow!!!! Does have a very well built Jamaica Cottage Shop outhouse, but no running water or shower. Heating sources are propane and a pellet stove which similar to all electric within cabin runs with an inverted generator. The generator is extremely quiet and cabin can be run on solar too.
Incredible access to Vermont Green Mountain National Forest and State Parks. Cabin is located on a gravel road that leads to Little Pond in Woodford, VT. It is an easy drive (15 min.) to Mount Snow and Bennington. Only a few miles from Prospect Nordic Resort. Woodford State Park is 3 miles away. Cabin is off the grid with solar power and generator power. It's very comfortable, but I don't want guests to be surprised. Water is carry in and the bathroom is a very clean outhouse constructed by Jamaica Cottage Shop.
  • This cabin was absolute perfection—from the spectacular mountain views to the quick communication from Carson, we’d 100% come here again. It definitely has its quirks—it is off grid with no running water, so be aware of what you’re getting into, but it was a great get away and would highly recommend to any true nature lover!

    Ariel2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place is a great getaway! We stayed in the winter and were pleasantly surprised to see there was about a foot of snow there, even when 5 mins away downtown there was no snow at all. It was great and just what we wanted. Very cozy and warm and the perfect cabin getaway. The driveway was a great place to get some sledding in, and the cabin was plenty warm enough to heat up in after.

    Amber2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing! If you’re looking for an intimate stay in nature, then this place is a definite must (even with two pups)!

  • Our dogs wore us out, and we loved it too! Lots of opportunities for hiking, relaxing, and recharging. We had a great time, although the dvd collection could use an update! Lol but really it was beautiful and lots of snow! Bring water!!

    Supatra2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down my favorite Airbnb rental yet. The pictures don’t do the cabin or views justice, or the stars. Finding it in the dark, an adventure. Carson’s dad had to tow us out of a snow bank (thanks again!!). Being off the grid felt healing, apres ski. Dave and I hope to be back soon!

    Kate2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful little cabin with an extraordinary view. Three of us stayed here in deep winter conditions, and were perfectly comfortable. We are likely to return.

    Ian2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the cabin. It snowed a lot and Carson was so nice and prepared the cabin for our weekend stay. The fire was burning and we really felt warmly welcomed. Would definitely recommend, but you have to keep in mind that it’s a rustic place with no running water and toilet is outside the cabin. View was amazing.

Beautiful and unique cozy converted barn in classic rural Vermont setting situated on 6.5 very private acres with long-range views. It is an ideal launching spot for many outdoor excursions, or just relax at home and explore the property.
This home has the rustic feel of a real Vermont barn but all the modern amenities of home. The property affords total privacy on it's 6.5 acres, so you can just relax and enjoy being in a beautiful setting. There is one master bedroom. The other bed is a spring-mattress futon in the large loft area. It offers semi-privacy. There is a small back room and a plug-in remote controlled air mattress that can be used as a private sleeping area. Guests have access to a gas grill, free firewood. The neighborhood is in a rural setting on a private dirt road off of a quiet dead-end public dirt road. There is a small airport in nearby Bennington, and a major airport about an hour away in Albany, New York. Southwestern Vermont is full of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, hunting, and skiing. The geography is mostly mountainous, forested, and rural, with classic New England towns and small farms throughout. Owner does not live on site, but can be contacted 24/7 with questions or problems.

  • Lisa’s house was wonderful. It is in a convenient location and was super clean and cozy. Our room was gorgeous; one of the pretties Airbnbs I’ve ever been in. 100% recommend!

  • Lisa was a great host!! She’s very sweet and considerate and she has a beautiful home. The Christmas trees are so charming. The views even from Lisa’s property are stunning and Bennington is a very cute town to visit!

  • Lisa is amazing!!! Her house and property? Gorgeous! A must stay if available. My son and I came in off a long snowy road trip and booked this rare gem on a whim. Short stay, but ever lasting impressions. Had the best sleep ever! By way of the beautiful house, the top notch amenities, and the genuine friendliness we received from our lovely host (Lisa). This short experience was a breath of fresh air. A unique home away from home... and a coooool cat to go with it! Simply wonderful! Sincerely yours, - Richard

  • Our stay at Lisa’s was wonderful, our room was so lovely, bright and cozy, as was the rest of the house. Everything was clean. The property around the house is gorgeous, we loved walking down to the creek in the snow. It was very close to town, everything was just as I hoped it would be. Mochi (the cat) is a sweetheart. I’m actually allergic, but couldn’t help petting him every time I saw him. He does not come up to the rooms. We enjoy chatting with Lisa a lot too. I highly recommend her house :)

  • Lisa’s place is great! It’s conveniently close to Bennington, but feels very rural. The Christmas Tree farm aspect is thoroughly charming. The kitchen was well equipped and had a lot of local Vermont products (which was uber cool!!). The house is tastefully decorated. Lisa is a really interesting and kind person!!

Gorgeous Home, created from a 1930's dairy barn renovated into a unique residence: chef's kitchen; 30' lap POOL; gas log stove; balcony for grilling, HOT TUB, dining, mtn views and FIRE PIT. Conveniently located in the tiny village of Pownal Center near VT/MA/NY corners. Enjoy agritourism, seasonal sports, world-class cultural events/museums, superb hiking, river boating, fishing, outlet shopping. Enjoy our website with scores of entertainment ideas. Separate rental for additional guests.
This is our former home and is actually a small portion of a 10,000 sf renovated barn complex which includes our former studio and gallery now closed, separate guest apartment, as well as ample areas for outdoor living with pool, patio, and large yard. This is a really unique space. The original barn was converted to retail in the 60's when US Route 7, the main artery from Long Island Sound to the Canadian border, was relocated and includes 7 stained glass windows rescued from an old church in Whitehall, NY. When we completely renovated we left these gorgeous windows alone. Our renovation added a fabulous kitchen and bathroom, deck with hot tub, courtyard and pool, dining room, family room and what we call the "bunkhouse room". We also added air conditioning and a gas fireplace for winter coziness. The photos will tell the story better than my words can ever do. There are sleeping accommodations for 8 people but we prefer to have no more than four adults as to not overtax the infrastructure. Guest apartment is a wholly separate space that can be accessed from the courtyard or, by special arrangement, through the service entrances/corridor. Note to potential guests: 99% of our guests love staying here and return and recommend us to their friends. The other fraction of a percent have a problem with rough-hune barn boards, slightly out-of-square or out-of-plumb angles, windows not designed to open, an occasional mouse "leave-behind", the proximity to a road (hey, where else would you put your barn), and any number of other observations. It is not some architectural masterpiece. This is our former home which we designed into a somewhat funky residence that maintains a barn-like flavor. If these things bother you please do not rent from us! We depend on good reviews and a good rental season to cover the cost of owning this rural treasure.
Rural village setting but extremely convenient to Williamstown, Bennington and points west. Up at the top of the hill next store is a wonderful working farm with iconic views belonging to the Gardner family. Marilyn loves visitors and you can buy eggs, raw milk, honey, maple syrup, and organic beef and pork. The view across the valley from there is included in our photos. The Pownal Valley has been painted extensively for the past two centuries. Artists like Frank Mason, Georgia O'Keefe and Norman Rockwell have created paintings here, as well as numerous other students and instructors of the Art Students League of NY. The latter maintained a summer boarding house across the street from our barn for many years. We are just 6 miles from either Bennington or Williamstown, MA. The museums, Mass MoCA and the Clark, draw visitors from around the world. Bennington College, Williams College and Southern Vermont college are nearby. There are numerous attractions in the adjacent Berkshires as well.
  • This place is beautiful, location is so peaceful and serene. The host was lovely and so accommodating. Sue was the best! Would definitely come back, most relaxing trip ever.

    Aishwarya2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Balcony was exactly as advertised and met my expectations. The two items to note for future travelers are 1-the bunk bed room is relatively separate from the master bedroom, which was fine for my family, but if my daughter was a toddler I’m not sure I would have been as comfortable with her being that far away and segregated. 2-to access the (very large) bathroom you must go through the master bedroom.

    Alyssa2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! This place is reasonably priced, and beyond amazing. It is centrally located to the MA/NY/VT border so you can explore in any direction. The caretaker Sue was so sweet and thoughtful, and left the nicest little s’mores kit for my children (which regretfully we didn’t have a chance to use) and some delicious treats. I can’t say enough how clean and comfortable this home is. Not a speck of dust anywhere, and the beds were lovely to sleep on. Even the bunk beds were comfortable. Communication with the hosts was responsive and informative. What a perfect place for a getaway with the family!

    Beth2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is beautifully equipped especially for chefs or foodies. Amazing kitchen and generally beautiful architecture. The location near Northern Mass and Northern NY was also great. We found lots of great excursions and really enjoyed the info from Pat’s website. Highly recommend.

    Elisabeth2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous home in an ideal setting. Super comfortable, super clean, easy to use, and extra treats like a pool and hot tub and the most amazing stained glass windows. We chose this place more than a year ago for a very special family weekend with friends at Solid Sound/Mass Moca, and it was a real pleasure. Convenient, so well appointed, what a kitchen! Great communication throughout the booking and stay.

    Chris2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We and our young daughter really enjoyed our stay at Pat's gorgeous apartment. It was a perfect base for both exploring the area and relaxing afternoons in the property. The apartment was sparkling clean, Pat's communication was fantastic throughout, and Sue who checked us in was a fount of local knowledge - and had made us the most delicious banana chocolate bread as well! The apartment is very stylish and yet cosy, with an amazing kitchen and things like a children's drawing which our daughter loved. We would love to return if we are ever in the area.

    Caroline2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The check in was easy. The kids and dog all loved the little touches (s’mores kit, banana bread, drawing table). The barn was cool and the renovations are so unique. One bathroom for the family was a little tight for a family of five, but the cool property offset all that! We will be back.

    Lynsey2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • The inside of this place is lovely - and MASSIVE. The bedroom/seating/bathroom area are huge and very, very nice. Comfy bed. The bathroom is nice and the shower large. The interior of the place was spotless, and the exterior well maintained. (Gardeners came to work during our stay.) Although the place sleeps more than 6, be aware that there's only one bathroom, and it's within the master suite. If you're there solo or part of a couple, it's a dreamy place. If you have a bunch of kids, I imagine it might get old to have them going through the master bedroom to get to the only bathroom. The kitchen is ridiculously nice and well stocked with pots and pans, dishes, plates - you name it. The knives could use a sharpening, but this is an AirBnB, and the fact that there's a knife selection to begin with is amazing. Be aware that not a lot of the windows open, so getting fresh air isn't quite as easy as you'd imagine when you see how many windows there actually are. The windows that are there are beautiful (many are stained glass), but not functional. The check-in process was easy and very pleasant - and we even got banana bread as a welcoming gift! I will say that getting the bags into the unit was a bit of a burden, since it meant bringing them through the lower unit of the house and up a bunch of stairs, then down a hall and through several doors. When we checked out, we used the garage, and pulled our car up to that door, meaning no stairs (since the garage is on the upper level, due to the way the house is build on a hill). You may want to request that when you arrive. Great place.

Welcome to beautiful Southern VT! This is a private cottage located in Bennington, VT. The setting is picturesque, on a private lake with diverse wildlife, waterfall and covered bridge. Full kitchen, covered porch, loft bedroom and additional sofa bed. We provide every conceivable amenity for a comfortable stay. A unique retreat for a cozy and peaceful getaway. There is no other vacation property of this quality and character in southern Vermont. Enjoy mornings on your own private lake.
We designed and built this cottage personally in 2013 to be a beautiful retreat for friends and family to come visit. In the times that we are not personally hosting, we thought that others might enjoy the use of our cottage. It is a romantic and private place. It has a front porch that overlooks the lake and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the evening with friends.
We fell in love with this location because while it is located close to Bennington town it is also private and quiet. The property is beautiful, featuring a large pond stocked with trout and frequented by eagles and blue herons. The outlet stream features a covered bridge and waterfall. There is a vibrant wildlife community that makes a home of the pond and adjacent wetlands. We are walking distance from Bennington College, 3 miles from Bennington, and about 20 miles from Williamstown and the Manchester Center outlets. Bennington is the historical center of Vermont with easy access to the Bennington Monument - the tallest structure in the state - as well as the historic Bennington Battlefield. Mount Equinox is the tallest peak in southern Vermont and is about 20 miles away from the cottage. We are within a short driving distance to the Green Mountain National Forest for hiking and there are many large lakes in the area for water activities.

Unique and private domes nestled in the hills of Vermont welcome nature lovers to a quiet country road. “The white stone cottage flows around 900 sf, which contains a nice bathroom, full kitchen, and plenty of nature-inspired furnishings.” Boston Magazine - Travel. You are the only guests in the domes which are attached to our home, a stone cottage with eye brow architecture, gardens, a meadow and woods. The parking area is shared. Separate entrances are accessed by a short set of stairs.
You will be the only guests! The entire place is yours! The domes feature free WiFi, a kitchen with microwave, stove/oven, refrigerator, drip coffee maker, tea, snacks and a bathroom with heated tile floor. The bedroom has a full size bed and the full bathroom includes a shower/tub, heated tile floor, hairdryer, soap and shampoo. You will enjoy sitting by the thermostatically controlled propane-fueled ‘wood’ stove when there is a seasonal chill in the air. “”The best possible combination between the postcard-perfect cliffside suites of Santorini and a hobbit house.” Boston Magazine
Our area is very rural. You will travel over two, one lane bridges in the last mile to our house and pass by a horse farm. We are definitely out of the mainstream but the country store is 3.9 miles away offering a deli and just about anything you could possibly need. Their motto: “If we don’t have it, you don’t need it!” We are a get-away that is not too far away!
  • A cozy and unique place to stay. Dottie and Bryan are attentive and accommodating hosts who put a lot of care into catering to guests' needs. The story behind the construction of the dome is fascinating, and I recommend anyone who stays there ask Dottie about it. If you're looking for a quaint place in the southern Vermont mountains, definitely pay a visit here.

Cute touches to celebrate my husband’s birthday made the experience so personal. They truly care about their guest having a memorable experience. The area was also very pleasant from the people, food, attractions - will absolutely be returning to do some hiking/exploring.

The apartment was well decorated and incredibly cozy (even had heated floors in the bedroom!). She was an incredibly good host and provided more amenities than what we thought there would be. It does not have its own door. It has a very comfy queen mattress and space for an additional floor mattress, if needed. The sofa folds out into a memory foam queen bed. There is a dining table that seats 4-5, as well as an island with 2 stools. Our private 70 acres also backs to hundreds of undeveloped acres for abundant hiking and outdoor opportunities. Snow shoeing and cross country skiing are wonderful activities for the trails. The cabin is private and secluded, yet only 15 minutes from our favorite restaurant and coffee shop in Hoosick Falls, and 20 minutes to everything in Bennington, 35 min. to Manchester. The WIFI is dual bonded DSL, but it may not be the speeds you are used to. It is typically fast enough to stream Netflix or Hulu without any problems, but it can be inconsistent. There is usually no cell reception on the property at all, but you may use WIFI calling if your phone has that option. There is a large TV and blu-ray/DVD player with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon apps that you may use your own account with, as well as several local channels. There are also some board games and books available for your enjoyment. The kitchen has both a Keurig and regular coffee maker, as well as lots of kitchen items like muffin tins, baking sheets, and cookware. There is a bathroom with a shower, soap, and shampoo. Coffee, tea, sugar, flour, spices, and condiments are provided. Fresh linens and towels, extra pillows, and cozy blankets are provided. There is an additional guest cabin available for rent for lager groups that sleeps 2 (plus a floor mattress, if needed). It has a bathroom and mini fridge & microwave. Laundry may be available by request, but not guaranteed, for longer stays. Please inquire.
The cabin sits on 70 private acres with hundreds of acres beyond that are undeveloped. There are endless places to explore on and around the property. There are also many activities and attractions nearby such as fishing or boating at Shaftsbury Lake State Park, visiting the Bennington Museum, Battle Monument, the Chocolate Barn, Cheese House, Dairy Bar in Arlington and Billy T's Northside Dairy Bar in Bennington, Manchester Village and the Northshire Bookstore & outlet shopping, Lincoln's Hildene, Orivs, Mount Equinox, Grandma Moses' Farm and gallery, Iron Coffee in Hoosick Falls, endless farmstands and antique shops, Vermont covered bridges, Cambridge NY and the New Skete monastery (where you can purchase their famous cheesecake), berry and apple picking, farms, and the list goes on. In wintertime, there are excellent places to snowshoe and cross country ski on the property.
  • This place exceeded our expectations A LOT! Not only because of how beautiful the cabin is, how neat it is, how everything is thoughtfully prepared, but also because Christine and Bryce were just amazing hosts. Before the trip we had some questions and they responded very quickly with all the information. We've never had an Airbnb experience this good and we've stayed at quite a lot of Airbnb places by now. So we would 100% recommend this place to our family, friends and everyone online thinking about booking this cabin. We also want to go back!

The cabin is absolutely breathtaking and Christine and Bryce are the best hosts. They had the cabin set up and ready for our arrival and they have nice touches they add to make sure you feel at home. We can’t wait to come back!

  • We could not be happier about our stay in the CozyCabin! We were able to enjoy some snowshoeing on the 70 acres around the cabin. Thank you Christine and Bryce

    Bobby2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • If anyone is looking for a cabin getaway in Vermont this is the perfect place. Christine and Bryce have thought everything you would need to have a home away from home. We will be booking again in the future.

  • The home is beautiful and the per room setup is great with private locks for each bedroom and joint access to super clean amenities. I was slated to arrive well past 11pm and the check in process could not have been any easier thanks to Karen.

    Jon2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Vermont this weekend snowboarding. And staying at Karen’s place made it even better. Location is close to many ski resorts, so we had many options to choose from. It’s sparkling clean and very cozy. Cats kept us busy with their personalities and we truly enjoyed it because we don’t have any pets home. Scot gave us a lot of useful tips and told stories about Vermont. That’s the reason why we always prefer Airbnb over hotels. There is nothing like experience new places with locals in their houses. We definitely be back again.

    Marta2020-01-26T00:00:00Z

  • A lovely loft room in a beautiful house that really feels like a home. Karen and Scott kindly provided coffee, tea, cookies etc in the kitchen that could be accessed any time. House is in a very quiet cul-de-sac so you get that real Vermont peacefulness. A great stay - and a perfect base to explore Manchester from. Would stay again for sure!

In the center of downtown Shaftsbury, don’t blink you’ll miss it. Our historic home built by Dr. Dean in 1904 has been a place of community ever since. A separate entrance and private back yard gives you the opportunity grill meals and toast marshmallows. Just minutes from hiking trails, lakes to fish and swim, mini golf & go-carts, historical landmarks, Art Centers, local theater and local cuisine. 15 minutes to downtown Bennington, and 25min. to downtown Manchester.
The front of our house has 2 porches. The smaller porch on the North end is the AirB&B entrance. The door will be unlocked with the key on the dining room table. Come on in :) Just leave the key on the table on checkout.

  • What a delightful place to snuggle in. My family of 4, two teens, loved the cottage! Great wood burning stove, turntable, and fun & spacious loft spaces. Shower was excellent, and fantastic location! Private and secluded, yet 10 minutes to Stratton. Very laidback, with all the small details that make a stay comfortable, full kitchen, ample lighting, clean all around. Jason was amenable and easy to communicate with. Super value, a rustic gem.

    Jeanmarie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A real gem! The setting is so beautiful. After a snowstorm the house looked like it was out of a fairytale. We comfortably fit 5 people and 2 dogs. It was an easy drive to Mt. Snow for skiing. The dogs romped in the front yard and we had gorgeous walks down the road. Plenty of firewood - but do bring some fatwood or starter logs to jump-start everything. D&K Market had about anything you could ask for. Jason was a great host and his directions were excellent. We would absolutely return!

Welcome! Our place is located on 14 lovely acres adjacent to the Green Mountain National Forest. A renovated barn style guesthouse with three guest rooms on the second story, a shared bath and full kitchen -adjacent to the Green Mountain National Forest. This bunk room, our wee one, is perfect for quiet rest and reading under the cute book lights we include in every room. If you're traveling with lots of gear, you might be more comfortable in the Low room or the Merrill, which are a bit more roomy. A cozy, rustic, modern bunkhouse, the guesthouse is outfitted with simple cotton bedding, a full set of tableware handmade in the studio below and enough cookware and kitchen supplies to serve you and your guests for the weekend or longer. Bard owls call to each other at dusk. The available space includes three bedrooms, a shared kitchen (between guests), a shared bath (between guests). Please note that there is not a living room in the bunkhouse; the kitchen and dining area are one space and serve as the common area of the bunkhouse. There are two entrances in the kitchen area for other private dwellings: Our full-time tenant enters through one to his self-contained apartment, but does not share/use the guest house shared kitchen or bath. The second is a private use family room. One bathroom in the guest house serves both guests and visiting artists working in the studio. Don’t be surprised if you see an unfamiliar face on their way to use the facilities. All bedrooms are dedicated visiting guest spaces and have lock and key. *Please note there is no smoking on the property. Sorry, although three dogs live on the property, no visiting pets are allowed. Ask me about private pottery classes. They require scheduling separate from your Airbnb reservation, so please inquire ahead of your visit. I'd love to teach you how to make pottery!

Welcome to State Line Bunks. We are a working homestead in upstate NY located in White Creek. Please feel free to tour the grounds and say hello to the alpaca, free range chickens and our turkey, Thomas. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the farm but must be on leash or tethered while outside.
Private, cozy bunk house with a queen size bed. Small dining area including a mini fridge, microwave, electric teapot, and filtered water. Bathroom is located in the main house just 50' away.
A peaceful, quiet setting with wonderful views. We are on a well maintained dead end dirt road, right off of the primary route from North Bennington, VT to Cambridge, NY. State Line continues as a seasonal road, so is fabulous for your morning or evening walk! The neighbors are close enough to be handy, but not so close as to be intrusive. It is equally as close to the sports pub and restaurants in North Bennington as it is to the country store in White Creek hence there is good food within 4 miles either direction!
  • This stay was a perfect getaway - the farm life was very exciting and the little house we stayed in was quaint, cozy, and accurate to its description. Definitely recommend this stay!

  • Comfortable and away from noise. The animals are just outside your doors so be prepared for the calls first thing in the morning. *beware of the cat, he is super friendly and will make a move to get inside at the first opportunity*

All are welcome to enjoy quintessential Vermont fun in the outdoors. The cabin is part of a small community of real log homes featuring modern construction and conveniences. All cabins are situated among 36 acres of giant white pine trees overlooking the Roaring Branch River, a beautiful mountain trout stream. Southwestern Vermont offers countless activities in all four seasons - including hiking, fishing, cycling, golfing, canoeing, skiing, antiquing, live summer theater, and museums. Vermont at its best.
Great hiking, fishing, skiing, shopping, mountain biking, and restaurants near by!
  • Our second visit will not be our last! Kathleen and the Chipmunk Cabin continue to be a highlight of our year!

    Tommy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was better than expected (and I had no concerns with the location, lovely pictures, or great reviews). Great communication from Kathleen and the caretaker Kiki. The cabin itself was flawless - very clean and with all the modern comforts you could need but with a wonderfully quite and cozy cabin atmosphere nestled in a beautiful and old pine forest. It was very relaxing and we'd definitely come again. Great value. Thanks.

    Steven2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great log cabin for a relaxing weekend!

    Ryan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Chipmunk is a great cabin in a fantastic location for an awesome getaway for all. Its well equipped, clean and super cozy. It’s close to ski mountains and lots of small towns to browse around. We would highly recommend it.

    Simon2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is just a dream, the perfect escape!! Great amenities, great location, and even better hospitality! Thank you Kathleen and Kiki, we will come back soon.

  • If you are looking for that “cabin in the woods” -look no further, this is it!!! This is a true gem. Beautiful cabin, very well finished, cozy, and super clean. You can hear the river from the house and feel completely secluded and nestled away in the woods. Only 15 minute drive from a very nice upscale town and many great hikes in the nearby area. Kathleen is a great host - we even managed to lock ourselves out and she quickly responded and helped us out. We went with our 3 month old baby and had such a relaxing weekend, will definetly be back!

    Martina2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars is the highest rating available, but if I could give this place ten stars, I would. The cabin is cozy, clean and well furnished, including the kitchen. The cabin is tucked away in the forest, away from other cabins. It is quiet except for the sound of the babble of the creek in back. It is a little less than 10 miles from Manchester, which is a delightful town with plenty to see and do. The property is very well managed by a capable, helpful and friendly on site manager who willingly helped us with a personal emergency we encountered during our stay.

  • Great place, definitely worth it!

    Virginia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the house was perfect and well thought out. The amenities were beyond our expectations, from the high quality bedding to the wood stacked fire places to eucalyptus water for the sauna...this is the place to stay for those who love details and pampering. It was truly like staying at a private resort. Entrance to Stratton Mountain is just minutes away, and Manchester VT is also a short trip for more dining options. We will definitely be back!!

    Lexie2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to book. As close to Stratton as you actually want to be without any of the ‘extra’ of ski-in ski-out. You can watch the snow cats groom the slopes at night from the living room window. Private lot, convenient to everything and very family friendly. Amenities for the experience ski outing, ski and board racks outside the door, boot warmer and drying racks inside. 2 sets of washer/dryers to handle ski gear for 6 with no trouble. We weren’t there to party with 4 kids in tow, but definitely would have been a great place for a large group of friends.

    Daniel2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for a big group! It has fantastic amenities and is in a great location just outside the Stratton resort. Chris does a great job laying everything out, and was very fast getting back to us whenever we had a question. Highly recommend staying there!

    Peter2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Chris’ house was truly wonderful. The space was modern and comfortable, and equipped with great amenities for all of us. We enjoyed being so close to the mountain and were delighted to be offered 2 passes to ski during our stay. I also have to really thank the host, Chris, for being so responsive and helpful with my questions. Great experience!

    Daphnee2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beyond the expectations. It’s very clean and smells nice inside. Feel cozy like home. I feel like staying here in summer would be a good place to stay too.

    Bird2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t say enough about this place. We had a great mini getaway. The house is in a great location, beautiful and cozy. There’s so much to do in the house alone from the hot tub to sauna and many games provided. Everything was sparkling clean. This place by far exceeded our expectations and Christopher is a great host. He is quick to respond and has outstanding hospitality. If I could give this place and Christopher 10star review, I would.

    Cleveland2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house was truly something special. We came with another family and it was the perfect size for two families. There were so many added bonuses that really stand out in my mind like heated beds and towels for the spa hot tub. Everything was clean and well appointed. There is an added living room area on the second level that was perfect for a movie night for the kids. The drive to Stratton was super convenient (5-7 min at most) but everyday we just looked forward to coming back to this house and relaxing by the fireplace. I look forward to staying here again!

This is a private room with a shared bath. There is a cozy full sized bed. It is conveniently located just 2.5 miles from Mount Snow Ski resort. I’m in the middle of some remodeling and will have a new listing up soon, expect to be up and running for the Christmas season!
  • Wonderful host. We traded a lot of stories back and forth. Super location for Mt Snow.

  • Skip’s is one of the best places I have stayed. He is a really nice man. Had so many lovely conversations with him. The room is very cozy and clean, as is the bathroom. The whole house is just adorable and quaint. Easy to find, just make sure your gps doesn’t send you backroads. If you take rt. 100 most of the way it will get you closer and faster than the dirt roads. Only about 7 minutes from Mt. Snow and about 5 minutes from a bunch of places to eat in Dover. Highly recommend this place.

  • My girlfriend and I unfortunately got a flat tire on the NJ turnpike and were unable to get to Skips place. We stayed there the year prior and had a wonderful time. We plan to try and make the trip again next year!

    Andres2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Skip's place. Just as good as the first one, and we will come back for sure. One thing that I forgot to include in the other review was that there are plenty of hangers and hooks to hang your ski or snowboard clothing to dry before the next morning. Already looking forward to coming back here!

    Denis2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Skip's place is a classic ski town home. High ceilings make the place spacious. He is very friendly and allows you to make yourself at home. The bed is very comfortable and the comforter is soft. Skip lives there, year round. So he can point you in the right direction of things happening in town. Live music and food going on, etc. To no fault of Skip's, my trip was cut short by illness, which is a shame because I was looking forward to hitting the slopes of Mt Snow.

We love this special little place and we hope you will too. It is comfortably furnished, with beautiful views. You will find plush towels, plenty of pillows, down comforters, books, staples, washer/dryer, laundry products and many other touches to help make your stay comfortable. When snow is not on the ground, you can enjoy sitting on the Adirondack chairs on the back deck or enjoying a grilled dinner on the picnic table under the apple trees. The house has 140 acres of property, 30 of it on one side of the road with the house and barn. The other 110 across the road (accessed through a locked gate) will be yours to roam through the trails, cross streams and climb up ridges for beautiful vistas. It is perfectly suited for long country walks, and bike rides. Many ski mountains are within a 30-40 minute drive. The dining room off the kitchen has a table with extension that seats 6 comfortably. There is a bar counter looking into the kitchen with three high top chairs. The kitchen is stocked with staple items, toaster, microwave, full refrigerator, stove/oven, Cuisinart coffee maker, bakeware, pots, pans, etc. For outdoor cooking, there is a new Weber gas grill. The front parlor room is a lovely space for reading or working at the desk. All beds have high quality memory foam mattress toppers on top of quality mattresses to help insure a restful sleep. The master bedroom is huge with a queen bed and a newly renovated ensuite bath (tub/shower). There is a DVD player set up with a small TV in this room (only for watching DVDs, though - not set up for television screening). In addition there is a Blue Tooth system to play your own music or CDs (we do have a library of music CDs and DVDs in the house). There is an additional guest bedroom set up with twin beds, which are very comfortably converted to a king bed if requested. This bedroom also has a new ensuite bath (tub/shower). There is a Cambridge Soundworks CD/radio player in this room. The very large, lovely living room downstairs has a futon twin size daybed, which could accommodate another person. There is a full bath with shower in a separate alcove off of the living room. The living room also has a sofa, comfortable chairs, lighting, large fireplace and a 42" flat screen TV with DVD Player. Although there is no cable, this TV is set up with a ROKU system; there are many channels set up already and you can enter your passwords to access channels through Netflix or Hulu, etc. In addition, there is a game table and chairs with playing cards, betting chips and puzzles for your enjoyment. The basement has a full washer/dryer for your convenience, with all necessary laundry supplies.
We have lived in the area for over 35 years. It was then, and still remains, a very special place. Recreational opportunities include hiking, skiing, fishing, biking and horseback riding. In the summer you can fish or kayak/canoe/tube on the famous Battenkill River, take in the renowned Dorset Horse Show or the Manchester Music Festival, and take advantage of fabulous outlet shopping in Manchester. Skiing at Bromley or Stratton are within a 30- 40 minute drive; Okemo and Mt. Snow are about an hour away. Restaurants, museums, and shopping are all very convenient. The property is perfect for two couples, or a family with children.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderfully cozy farm house in the woods. It was sparkling clean and decorated with care. Karen was a terrific hostess and provided many little touches that made us smile and feel at home. Elizabeth

  • Karen's farmhouse is a real treasure. From the lovely linens, to fresh flowers in almost every room, you'll feel coddled and cared for the moment you walk in the door. The best thing of all though is Karen, herself. She's warm, helpful, thoughtful and a delight. Definitely choose Karen's house if you want the perfect place to stay in this sweet part of Vermont!

  • We loved staying in Karen's house. I traveled with three friends, and it was a perfect getaway for two couples. The bedrooms were very clean and had a nice ambiance, and the whole house was cozy and beautiful. We enjoyed that the location of the house was quiet but that the ski mountains and nearby downtowns were easy to get to. It only took about 45 minutes to get to Stratton. Additionally, the house has board games, books, and a tv that we were able to watch movies on - great for a relaxing weekend. Karen was also easy to reach and very responsive. We would highly recommend this Airbnb and look forward to being back in the future!

  • I've stayed in dozens of airbnb homes in Vermont but none so beautiful and also as practical as this one. It is very pretty, set in gorgeous woods with easy parking and thoughtful spacious interior. The underfloor heating, big kitchen, log fire all serve to make it very homey. The host is easily contactable and it's an easy drive to Stratton and the mountains. Highly recommended.
