Crayke Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Crayke

An original Jacobean manor built in 1620 with stone mullion windows, thick oak beams and yorkstone flags. Lovingly restored as a family home, where tradition meets mod cons from Chalon Kitchen to Linn room-to-room surround sound. Sitting in 17 meadowy acres you'll have an amazing sense of privacy and privilege when staying here. Whilst the Manor comfortably sleeps 18, the two country cottages on-site can accommodate an extra 10, if required.
A perfect retreat, Crayke Manor is regarded by many locals as the most beautiful home in the County. Not only the cosiness and solidness of the Manor itself but the way it proudly sits in its 17 acre surroundings. Near enough to the nearby village to stroll to the pub and far away enough to have ones own privacy and tranquility.
On the outskirts of the picturesque village of Crayke with its award winning The Durham Ox pub. Plentiful walks and historical sites, like Ampleforth Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey. Nearby towns like Helmsley and Easingwold. The historic city of York is only 10 miles south of the Manor.
  • Amazing place. We stayed for 3 nights and can honestly say it's one of the most unique and enjoyable properties any of us has ever stayed at. Check in was easy, as was checking out! Would definitely stay here again!

  • Steve made us feel very welcome without encroaching on our arrival. He explained all that we needed to know about the property. The property was absolutely perfect for our family celebrations and was absolutely perfect for the children in our party as the play room and the garden were great entertainment for them. The decor of the property was perfect and was a super country retreat to take a good rest. Absolutely wonderful property for a family get together.

  • The manor had a real wow factor. Perfect for families who just want to relax and let the kids roam free. There's plenty of space in the how to cater for a large party without feeling on top of one another. Easy access to the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and a lovely walk to the Durham Ox (20 mins) through fields. Perfect for a getaway from it all!

  • One word! AMAZING. The house and the surronding landscape was exactly as you could imagine. The caretakers and hosts were nothing but attentive and accommodating to us through our week long stay. They went above and beyond to ensure our wedding aniversay celebration went off without a hitch. All of our gets were blown away! Thank you!

  • Wonderful weekend in this amazing house. It was warm, comfortable and had a vey well equipped kitchen. It would be paradise for children both inside and outside. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Steve & his wife amazing from the start! Crayke is amazing, outstanding, unforgettable, the most beautiful, quirky house I've ever seen! We had the best weekend ever & want to return in summer to give us a chance to use the hot tub :-)

    Danielle2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had this amazing manor house for a family birthday party . The house is full of character from the huge fireplaces , oak panelling , galleried library , four poster beds and amazing plumbing ,( you have to see it to understand ! ) It was a privilege to stay in such an unique historical home . The house is very spacious with lots of cosy seating areas, a well equipped cooks kitchen , and great bedrooms with really comfy beds . The outdoor space was just as good with play areas and sports equipment to suit all ages. It is actually hard to put into words how much we enjoyed our stay here as it was such a unique experience, my personal highlights were watching shooting stars from the hot tub ( the night sky is fabulous as there is very little light pollution ) and a game of croquet on the manicured lawn in the sunshine . comes highly recommended .

  • Crayke Manor is the most magical, enchanting location and was the perfect setting to celebrate my 30th birthday. The house itself is beautiful, full of gorgeously themed rooms, fireplaces, mysterious staircases and a sense of luxury. Set in fabulous grounds, Crayke has a sense of space and relaxation. Everything we could possibly have needed was provided and comfortably housed our large party. It was extremely easy to organise our stay and Justin was very helpful, as were the house caretakers who assisted us during our stay. I cannot recommend this house highly enough; it is an atmospheric, warm, quirky property that has left me with many incredible memories of this special event!!

Beautifully situated in stunning countryside in an area of outstanding natural beauty yet close to York and the market town of Easingwold. Spacious comfortable accommodation ideal for a couple wanting to relax and discover the delights of Yorkshire.
Close House Cottage is very spacious and is often described as 'a home from home' by guests.
There are plenty of excellent walks starting from or near Close House Cottage, including the Foss Way that leads to York. We are also centrally situated for Scarborough, Filey, Harrogate, Leeds, the Dales and the Moors and, of course, historic York.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Close House. We arrived very late but we easily gained access to the beautifully decorated, well equipped, and extremely comfortable cottage. In the morning we awoke to see a delightful rural setting with close proximity to the lovely walks, villages, and breath taking sights of the Howardian Hills and the North York Moors. Our five day stay should have been a month. Lastly, Paula was a friendly, very helpful, and accessible host. She provided us with needed maps and advice and even called the nearby Durham Ox (great pub) to make a reservation. Many thanks to Paula for helping to make our visit memorable. We want to return soon!

Stillington is a lovely peaceful village with great character. It has 2 pubs serving great food, an Indian restaurant, a fish and chip shop, churches and village store/post office run by locals. There are wonderful walks all around the village with good cycle tracks. Easy access to York (10 miles) , on the edge of the Hambleton Hills in an area of outstanding beauty and within driving distance of the North York Moors (11 miles to Helmsley) and Yorkshire Coast.
Though the cottage is mainly available for long weekend lets it may be possible to let for longer periods on request (i.e. holiday periods). The cottage is cosy but compact. It has 2 bedrooms which would sleep 3 comfortably and 4 at a push. The second bedroom is small with room for a single bed but not much else! There is a small sofa bed in the sitting room for the 3rd or 4th guest if necessary. Wifi and Sky television available. Washing machine and full kitchen, including microwave and freezer. Woodburner (logs and coal provided) and electric wall heaters. Enclosed private garden. Dogs welcome, though no dog in residence - garden area secure. Breakfast items (bread and bagels), milk, orange juice and tea and coffee provided.
  • Lovely cottage in a quiet village. Yes it is small as the description says, but well equipped and in good condition, and for 2 adults and 3 dogs - very good choice and we would recommend it to anybody.

  • We had a lovely stay. The place was very nice, comfortable, and well-equipped. The hosts added some lovely personal touches as well. Would definitely recommend.

  • Our hosts were amazing, we even had a lovely card on arrival. All that vital information was there and the toast for breakfast very much appreciated. The whole place was spotless. There was an added bonus for us as we arrived in the evening and ambled up the road to just get some air; we were pleasantly surprised to find a fantastic restaurant/wine bar full of lovely people.

  • The cottage is stunning beautifully fitted out . Rachael and Peter were great to communicate with and everything was as described . Great position with a car . Drove to park and drive easily and great way to see York without hassle and bustle of city living . Pubs nearby serve great food and have good service . Would love to come back and enjoy the walks that are on offer .

  • Thank you very much for letting us stay in your lovely cottage.

  • Very clean and tidy cottage within short walk of 2 pubs with excellent menus. Stillington is a lovely quiet village with friendly atmosphere. Clear instructions covered everything from parking etc that you might need. Complementary bread, milk, jam, bagles and choice of decent teas and coffees were most welcome after a long drive. Could not reccomend this accomodation highly enough. Very reasonably priced indeed. This sets the standard for quality and value in one package you will not regret!

  • I booked a short stay for my sister as a present and she loved the hut just as much as myself and my husband did. Everything about the place is perfect :)

    Rebekah2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic stay. The shepherd's hut is just so beautiful, it's kitted out to an incredibly high standard. The hosts couldn't do enough for me, they were so thoughtful and kind. Lovely and secluded location in a fruit orchard with strings of lights everywhere. I felt like I was on a movie set it was so perfect. Great value for money too!

  • We have had the most relaxing, amazing stay at Paul and Maggi's beautiful shepherds hut! We were greeted by Paul and Maggi upon arrival and they showed us around their beautiful grounds within their home, the shepherds hut is situated at the bottom of the garden away from their home, it is a real secret garden surrounded by pretty lights, candles, a log seating area where you can light a fire and my most favourite, a secluded seating area by the peaceful brook where you can sit with a glass of wine or a cup of tea! I woken up this morning and took a pot of tea down there and read the Yorkshire magazines that were in the hut, it was lovely! In the hut, there was a welcome basket that included a bottle of wine, crisps, biscuits, and fresh bread and butter with a personalised label for us. The attention to detail was fabulous. I wish we booked a second night and we will definitely be back again! The area was in a picturesque village which we walked into to try out the two local pubs, one was a real local serving real ales and the other had an array of gin! It was lovely! Paul and Maggi were great hosts where nothing was too much trouble, we look forward to staying again! Thank you, Tiffany & Dom

    Tiffany2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful gem of a place! Such a cosy little hut in beautiful surroundings, with glittering fairy lights and the sights and sounds of nature all around. Paul was the perfect host and they left us a thoughtful and generous welcome package as well as ensuring we had everything and anything we needed. The wood burning stove and fire pit outside made our stay cosy and memorable. The kitchen facilities were just what we needed (including kettle, toaster and hotplate) as there were pubs and a chip shop within walking distance. We would definitely stay again. Thank you!

    aideen2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say a part from a little peace if heaven ....Peter and Maggi are the perfect hosts nothing is to much trouble......the grounds are amazing and the guy well you need to experience it to really understand how special it is....their attention to detail is amazing woth everything.....we will so be returning and recommending to all our family and friends that want that special get away.

    Adrian2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous, magical little hideout. Paul and Maggi were amazing hosts, and couldn't have done more for us. The hut itself if full of everything you could possibly need and it is in a great location. Will definitely be staying again!

    Christina2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is beautiful and such attention to detail . It is a haven from the day to day madness that is our lives !! One of the most amazing places I have ever stayed !!!

    Francis2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic wedding anniversary weekend away at Maggi and Paul’s Shephard’s hut. This place was fantastic. The hut itself was very cute and had a surprisingly good kitchen area for such a small space with toaster, kettle and magnetic hotplate. There were also a lot of nice touches in the hut including a blue tooth radio that could be synched to your phone to play music. As well as the hut, the grounds were great too. The grounds aren’t particularly large but there’s lots to see including a little river and a duck pond. At night there are small chains of lights in the trees that make the place look simply magical – perfect for a romantic occasion. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area; we went to Castle Howard and had beautiful walks in the Howardian hills. On top of all of this Maggi and Paul were ideal hosts. They were very welcoming and friendly and made sure that our visit was as perfect as possible.

We welcome you to our beautiful and large detached house located in a picturesque village 7 miles north of York. The property is approximately 3000 square foot and is surrounded by extensive woodland gardens of just over an acre with a hot tub and close to pubs serving food.
Our large and welcoming detached family home provides 5 bedrooms, 3 reception rooms and 4 bathrooms/toilets. Sat within a beautiful woodland garden of 1 acre and enjoying views of open countryside, our house provides spacious modern living standards in a mature countryside location on the edge of the highly popular village of Sutton on the Forest. We have three double bedrooms: one super king with en-suite, one king and one standard double with additional toddlers bed. We have two further bedrooms, ideally suited for children. These comprise of one large bedroom with bunkbeds (the top bunk is quite high and we would recommend aged 7 years and up use this bed) and a hanging swing and one large bedroom with mid sleeper cabin bed with slide and a separate single bed. The house has four bathrooms, including two baths. Holmlea enjoys a delightful setting adjoining farmland, with ample parking. The house is set well back from the road and is screened at the front by mature hedging. Extensive lawn and shrub gardens are interspersed with mature trees including willow, poplar, birch, spruce, horse chestnut and cherry, and the whole plot is securely fenced and netted. The garden also has a pony paddock area/football pitch. The whole area amounts to 1 acre. The outside has been hugely popular with guests, as we have a wood burning hot tub (wood included), tree house, trampoline, zip-wire and swing. Look out for the fairy house! The garden is alive with wildlife, birds, and pheasants, partridges and owls are seen regularly. We also have a large resident hedgehog who you might see on an evening.
The house is based in an ideal location, only 7 miles from York and also very Close to the Howardian Hills (an area of outstanding natural beauty) and the North Yorkshire Moors. There are three local pubs, all of which serve food and are a 15 minute walk from the property. The local village also has a shop and post office.
  • Amazing family friendly house with fantastic garden in lovely rural location. Joe and Caroline were really helpful prior to arrival and at check in. Would definitely recommend this property.

  • An absolutely amazing house and fantastic garden! Perfect getaway for a group of friends! Ideal garden area for children and adults! Close to york and other attractions ! We had a fantastic weekend as a group of families getting together for a weekend of fun and relaxation! Hot tub was a big hit with the men! Couldn't recommend this location enough and the host were amazing on check in and prior with any information needed! We've even discussed rebooking for next year!

    Claire2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place really geared to kids. The garden is lovely and local pub decent. Would recommend.

    Jason2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Joe and Caroline's place was absolutely amazing. 8 of us met up over the bank holiday weekend and had the best time. A lot of us hadn't seen each other for 2 years since we left university and this was the perfect place for us to meet up and catch up. Thankfully the weather was perfect and we spent most of our time outside enjoying the incredible gardens, playing football, in the hot tub, lounging in the hammocks and just generally loving life. Inside the house is just as amazing, the conservatory dining area had such a great vibe to it and all the bedrooms were super comfortable. Communication was great right from booking all the way through to checking in and out - Joe and Caroline made the whole process so smooth. We're already planning our trip back next year!

A stylish bolthole for two in a quiet village 15 miles north of York. Close to the North York Moors and within striking distance of Whitby, the east coast, and the Dales. Escape from everyday life for a relaxing break and to recharge your batteries.
The well equipped kitchen with dining area has a range of modern and antique units and under-floor heating. You will find tea, coffee, milk and biscuits when you arrive. There is an oven, hob, microwave, and fridge with freezer box. The living room has oak floors, antique rugs and a mix of old and contemporary furniture. French doors take you out onto the south facing patio where you can sit in the summer and enjoy a glass of wine under the fig tree. For the colder months there is a powerful wood burning stove (first basket of logs included and more available). Snuggle up on the sofa and relax with a good book, a selection of games, or watch TV. A comprehensive range of maps, local books and DVDs are kept in the housekeeper's cupboard. The downstairs shower room has underfloor heating and a powerful walk in shower. Upstairs, the beamed bedroom has a king-size bed with cotton bed linen, oak peg hanging rails and views over the garden and the village church.
Husthwaite is a picturesque and friendly village on the southern edge of the North York Moors and overlooking the Vale of York. There are a number of excellent restaurants and pubs in the neighboring villages including The Black Swan at Oldstead. Husthwaite has a tennis court and outside adult gym. The nearby market town of Easingwold has a good range of independent shops, a supermarket, cafes, pubs and take-aways. This is a great area for walking and cycling and well placed to explore a wealth of attractions further afield from York to the south, the Dales to the west, the Moors to the north and the coast to the east.
  • Sarah was a perfect host, her communication was great and check in was easy. The barn is fantastic, the listing doesn't do it justice. The fireplace is great, the bed is very comfortable, wifi was good and the kitchen is well stocked. The area was also perfect, being close to both York and the moors. Would definitely stay here again.

    James2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic! Well equipped, spotlessly clean and very stylish. We loved it!

    Hannah2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in a very quiet country village. The perfect location for a quiet getaway. The cottage itself was immaculately presented, clean and the kitchen was very well-equipped with everything you would need. It was also cosy and warm. Sarah herself was a great host and while we didn't need to interact much through our stay, she was very helpful with a minor issue sorted out immediately, and it was great knowing she was on hand if necessary. I would happily recommend the place to others.

    Ayesha2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • I can only agree with all the other reviews on here; everything about the barn was just lovely for our 3 -night stay. I only wish we could've stayed longer! It's in a very quiet village with easy access both to the North York Moors and to York itself. For local facilities, the nearby small town of Easingwold was very handy. The barn is finished to a very high standard; the bed is very comfortable (the whole upper floor with exposed beams is great!), the kitchen is well-equipped and the wood-burning stove was a real bonus as it was February! The stove warms the upper floor very effectively as well! Sarah was the perfect host; very welcoming but also left us to ourselves. There is a good selection of books, local maps and also some DVDs. The only slight downside I can think of was that the Wi-Fi signal was pretty weak, but this was hardly a problem as we were happy to get away from it all! I would thoroughly recommend the barn if you're looking for a quiet, cosy break near to some lovely countryside :-)

    Matt2016-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's barn was a great place to spend a few relaxing days - a solid selection of books & films for the rainy days and a perfect location to use as a base to explore by car when the sun comes out. The barn is very well designed, shows a great use of space, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. A comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and powerful shower were all very welcome. It was a lovely touch that Sarah had laid the wood-burner so that we had a fire crackling away in no time. Sarah was very welcoming and careful of our privacy too - great to know someone is nearby if needed. Would definitely recommend.

    Kate2016-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely place to stay. The barn itself was clean and cosy with nice decor and lots of facilities (everything you could need in the fairly spacious kitchen etc). We felt very welcome and I was particularly impressed by Sarah leaving me some wheat free cake on arrival (she must have noticed my allergy from my profile), which was a thoughtful touch. The location was great - close to a lot of North Yorkshire attractions and we found a lovely place to eat in a nearby village. The barn is joined on to the main house but we still felt it was very private and perfect for a romantic break. The only down side we noticed was that there did not seem to be much hot water for the shower - only enough for a quick shower each! Still though, we enjoyed it and would return.

    Michelle2015-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's cottage was a really lovely place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped and had all the cooking equipment and essentials you might need such as olive oil, salt and pepper (this was great as so many places don't think of simple things like that which make a big difference!). The house was absolutely spotless, the bed was really comfortable and it was a really nice quiet place to stay and relax. We really enjoyed using the log fire too :)

    Lizzy2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for our two-week stay in North Yorkshire: close enough to York to visit family and do sight-seeing, but also in a delightfully secluded village location, peaceful and scenic. Sarah's garden is astounding, and we enjoyed breakfasts and dinners outside on the patio or stretched out under the apple trees by the gooseberries and raspberries. The cottage was all we could desire, with great Bosch appliances and a fully equipped kitchen, a wonderful shower, snug living area, and a very comfortable queen-size bed upstairs in the loft. Great decor, a pleasure to come home to after a long day of hiking or sight-seeing. We discovered some great walks (especially the Cleveland Way by the White Horse--wonderful scenic views--and a bridle path that leads to Coxwold). Sarah was the perfect hostess, always available but never intrusive. We were very fortunate to have found this place. Thanks, Sarah!

  • The annex at Birch house was a perfect little retreat! Set in the very scenic countryside of sutton-on-the-forest and only a 20 minute drive from York centre! The annex itself had a lovely layout, a very original style and just felt like a home away from home! Our host Sara was very informative before our stay giving her recommendations on where to go and what to see which was great and we knew she was only next door if we needed anymore information on the area! All in all we had a fantastic weekend and the hospitality was spot on.

    Adam2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sara was a generous and considerate host and we had a lovely stay. Our visit was over Christmas and Sara went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed for a great time. The Annexe was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean.

    Hugh2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment that I booked with Sara, she made our experience with our stay seamless and professional, going above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. The day I booked the annex, Sara sent out a detailed email telling me what I needed to know and giving me helpful information about the area. If I had any questions they were answered promptly and I had a very good feeling and sense of ease as soon as I booked. We'd had a long drive the day we arrived at about 9pm and what a pleasant surprise it was when we walked into the charming annex. It was clean, beautiful and Sara had added some extra touches as we were greeted by a bottle of bubbly and a chocolate on our folded towels at the end of the bed. We were all really hungry and Sara recommended a lovely, authentic little Italian restaurant 5 minutes from the annex (we loved it so much, we went back the next evening). She went as far as to call ahead for us to let them know we were coming so that they would hold a table for us as it was late. We were only staying for a couple of nights but it was the most comfortable night's sleep we'd had on our trip so far! It was close to the city so we could get in easily, but also located on a quiet country road, so we got the best of both worlds . We don't usually go back to the same places to stay, but the annex was a little taste of luxury and Sara was beyond helpful and friendly so we definitely plan on staying there again in the future and hope to see more of the beautiful area. Thank you Sara and family for making our stay such a pleasant one!

  • Gorgeous little cottage, outstanding setting. We received the warmest of welcomes and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The only downside was that, because of other commitments (I was riding a coast to coast), we couldn't spend long enough there. I will be recommending Station Cottage to our friends.

A cosy cottage set in the heart of the Howardian Hills. Sleeps 2 in the King Size Bed. Has a small double sofa bed in the living area. All the mod cons except we have std broadband not fibre. A wood burning stove set below a v large tv. Bring your favourite DVDs! We have many. We are surrounded by fields of cows. To the North, breathtaking views of the North York Moors. Just sit in our garden and enjoy! A 30 sec walk back up the drive and you can look down on the Vale of York in all its glory.

  • Gorgeous area, fabulous cottage owned by somebody who definitely has a great taste in decorations! Loved the place, absolutely recommend to anyone. Lucy was a pleasure to deal with! Thank you!!

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay. The cottage is relaxing, cozy, comfortable, just wish we could have stayed longer. The attention to detail is lovely, from the decor to the welcoming us with milk, tea, coffee and snacks. Thank you again, see you next time for a longer stay.

    Sarah2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Lucy's place was truly great. Our hosts went out of their way for us despite our inconveniently late arrival, and made sure we were comfortable and settled in. We only stayed one night, but we enjoyed the accommodation and the hospitality. Highly recommend.

  • Great little place

    Holly2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to enjoy peace and quiet. But do follow Lucy's directions once you are about 1 mile away on your Sat Nav! If you do end up at the church, turn round and come back up to the junction, turn left, then it's the drive after the white house on the right.

    Mignon2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful and clean cottage at a silent place! Lucy and her family are very friendly hosts, who welcomed us warmly. They gave us tips for the area. Thank you very much!

    Friederike2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay, at Cliff Field Cottage. The cottage itself was lovely and well equipped with things I didn't think of, such as milk, tea, and a few snacks in the morning! It's not huge place, but there was more than enough room for myself, my partner and our three year old son. We were very cosy wrapped up on the sofa watching DVDs. The scenery around the cottage is beautiful and with it being set back from the main road it's very quiet. Advice for anyone staying would be to bring anything you could need when you arrive, the nearest shop is about 10 mins drive away, and if you're planning an evening staying in, take the opportunity to bring a DVD or two you've been meaning to watch as the TV has no reception. (Although, Lucy and John do have a selection of DVDs, particularly enjoyed Walking the Line!). The only downside to our trip was that we couldn't stay longer, highly recommended.

We are very happy for you to use our outdoor seating areas for alfresco dining or relaxing, as well as the "hen house" this is our garden summer house.
We live directly opposite the Blue Bell pub that has a very good reputation for food and drink, we are accesable to picturesque North Yorkshire villages as well as having a convenient bus route into the centre of York. The village has 3 tennis courts that are very well maintained. There is an honesty box for people that use these facilities. There is a lovely children's play area that is well equipped and safe. We are happy to recommend other restaurants to match a range of budgets as well as a variety of takeaway establishments.
  • Phil and Tracey's place is huge, clean, super well-equiped and both of them are hospitable to all of us,especially to our kids. Their recommendation of restaurant and park and ride to York is accurate. Btw,Phil and Tracey's place is 30 mins ride to York Centre. If you drice,it will be a perfect place to stay!

  • What a superb place to stay! So much to do in the local area surrounded by places to entertain the kids and lovely pubs for lunch and evening meals. We stayed for 4 nights with 2 kids (aged 12 and 10) and we all had a great time polishing up on our pool skills too! Phil and Tracey were superb hosts - nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend for a quiet stay relaxing and having days out and about in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. A home from home ;-)

  • if you love the place on the photos, wait till you see it live. It is a brand new, decorated with a lot of taste and very trendy. A huge garden, lots of sitting area., very cozy. Tracy and Phil are amassing hosts. They welcomed us with wine, nibbles and chocolates! If you are in York, do not miss the opportunity to stay with them.

  • The Coach House has been beautifully restored and decorated. For me, it was a home away from home. Everything we needed for a relaxing base from which we could explore Yorkshire. The kitchen is well equipped. It was a lovely surprise to find a chilled bottle of prosecco waiting for us on arrival. I loved that there was a bath in the bedroom. It added that extra touch of luxuary to the coach house. Great location, less than 30 minutes to York.

    Tracey2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful property with excellent outside space. Pool table is a good attraction. Close to bus links and park and ride into York. Excellent high quality pub opposite. Hosts are very welcoming and helpful.

  • Would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this stunning property for a visit to York, has everything you could want or need. Phil & Tracey were fantastic hosts, very welcoming and keen to ensure you had a great time. Lovely touch of bottle of fizz & chocolates on arrival. Special thanks for our daughters birthday card & present, she was so delighted! We will definitely be back.

Sycamore Barn is 10 miles from York in the small village of Tollerton. Recently refurbished barn with exposed beams and oak flooring. The cottage is very cosy with full central heating and a woodburner stove -we supply free logs.
  • Neat and tidy cottage.

    Errol2015-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in sycamore barn for 2 nights for a birthday weekend away to York for my mums 50th and we were not disappointed! The house was lovely and was about a 20 minute drive from York City centre. Despite check in time being 3pm, the hosts allowed us to check in earlier as it had been cleaned the night before. They were there when we arrived as their house is right next door which is convenient for any issues (which we had none of). Check in and check out was simple and easy. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever to find myself in York again.

    Hannah2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Nice host - slight mix up with room but everything came up trumps so wouldn't hesitate to recommend using Darrell

    Ciaran2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at sycamore barn. A clean, warm, and welcoming house which was a perfect base for visiting in the area.

    Becky2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Darrell stayed there and was available even though we came later than expected. We felt very welcome. This is a separate house on its own, beautiful rustic and nice to stay in. We chose this while we visited York, a 15 mins drive, but well worth it.

    Kevin2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sycamore Barns was great for our small family for our 2 week stay. The location was perfect for us because it was near my husband's work and it was super easy for my baby girl and I to take the bus into York. The stop was across the street and an easy 30 min direct ride to town. York is a wonderful place to visit- so much history, and great food and shops. Tollerton is a cute, quaint village with a nice pub down the road with good food and there's a great small shop for groceries. Darrell was very hospitable and the house was immaculate. We definitely recommend this airbnb.

    Allison2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great four nights in Sycamore Barn. It was a great size for our family. The bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge was a nice touch. In addition to the family we came to visit in Easingwold, we also saw and can recommend Sutton Bank, Rievaulx Abbey, along with the Jorvik center and other attractions in York. Communication with our host was quick and easy. The Black Horse pub across the road provided a couple of tasty meals.

    Jonathan2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely, really well set up with good sized rooms. It was comfy and had everything we needed in the kitchen etc. Our older child really appreciated having the lawn area and the conservatory for them to play in was a bonus. We didn't explore the village much but the barn was set back a bit from the road and felt relatively private as it mostly faced it's own lawn with just minor windows facing houses across the street.

Our home is located in the village of Huby - 10 miles north of York to which there is a regular bus service. The village has two pub/restaurants; a general store/post office. The location is an ideal touring base for North Yorkshire's countryside.
Our home is three years old with a contemporary, comfortable interior. We have two spacious rooms available, one large double with private en-suite and a large double with twin beds and en-suite. All rooms have flat screen TV/DVD and high speed internet access.
We are well located as a base for exploring all that North Yorkshire has to offer our visitors. The historical walled City of York; The Moors National Park, and just beyond, the North East coastline and picturesque Whitby - home port to Captain James Cook. Further afield, The Dales National Park with its patchwork of dry stone walls crisscrossing valleys and rolling hills and attractive market towns along the way.
  • We enjoyed and appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts. Breakfast was always satisfying. We felt at home with our hosts.

  • We arrived very late in the evening (close to midnight!) and Carole and Mike welcomed us in to their lovely home without an utterance of being annoyed. Our en-suite bedroom was immaculately clean and cosy; we loved the extra touches in our room, like the bottles of water and tea and biscuits. The purpose of our stay was for a family wedding in York. Carole was happy to lend us their iron and full length mirror when we were getting ready. Breakfast each morning was brilliant with a variety of choices and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. Thank you to Carole and Mike for being such hospitable hosts!

  • Carole and Mike provide a really lovely B&B service. A super bedroom and equally lovely en-suite. We were racing in a local triathlon at Castle Howard so their house was a really good place to access the area in general as well as get to the race easily. The village is really quiet which makes for a good night's sleep and Carole was really kind, making up a superior packed breakfast for our early start days as we were leaving before a reasonable breakfast time for a very early starts. Thank you both for making us feel so welcome in your home!

Nestling in this picturesque village of Coxwold, Braecote is the perfect place for a romantic getaway and ideally placed for weddings at Newburgh Priory and Coxwold church and fine dining at the Michelin starred Black Swan at Oldstead. Cosy and warm and with high quality fixtures and fittings it's also a great base from which to explore the historic city of York, the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and east coast.
Braecote is a deceptively spacious 19th century cottage and a perfect bolthole for two. A great base for visiting York, enjoying outdoor activities, or for those who just want with space to chill and relax. You will always find tea, coffee, milk and biscuits when you arrive - and maybe a few extras if you are there for a longer stay. The well-equipped kitchen has reclaimed work surfaces and modern appliances. Coxwold is a really pretty village within the North York Moors Nation Park. The neighbours are all very friendly and there's a good pub just up the road. It's well placed to explore York to the south, the Dales to the west, the Moors to the north and the coast to the east. The Georgian market town of Easingwold, with its cobbled market square where there's a great range of independent shops, a supermarket on Long Street, cafes, pubs and take aways. Thirsk to the north has a great independent cinema, James Herriot Museum, race course, a Saturday and Monday market - and three supermarkets. For history lovers: Shandy Hall, once home to novelist Laurence Sterne, is just up the road, Newburgh Priory and Byland Abbey a short walk away. Further afield: Castle Howard, Rievaux Abbey and Beningbrough Hall. For culture lovers: York has so much to see, from the ancient walls to the National Railway Museum, York Minster, and York Art Gallery. For walkers: From local footpaths to further afield there's so much to explore - maps and guide books are in the cottage. Food and drink: The traditional Fauconberg Arms is just up the road and there are some excellent restaurants and pubs nearby. We recommend The Carlton Inn, Carton Husthwaite, The Staypleton Arms in Wass, The Plum and Partridge in Husthwaite and, of course, the Michelin starred Black Swan in Oldstead.
  • This beautifully appointed little cottage was perfect for us. It was absolutely spotless, had everything we needed and felt cosy and luxurious at the same time. Sarah was helpful, friendly and on hand. Staying to view the Tour de Yorkshire nearby was brilliant, and the countryside is clearly fantastic for walking had we got more time. The village is quiet, the church and grounds is pleasant and the Fauconberg Arms nearby has charm and good food. We hope to come back.

  • We had a great stay at Braecote! The cottage is beautiful, very clean and well presented. Coxwold village and the surrounding area is beautiful, we enjoyed a long walk to a few villages as the weather was really great. The games and dvd's are a nice touch too! We would definitely come back to Coxwold as there is a lot we would have liked to have seen more of, and would definitely stay at Braecote again. Sarah the host was very quick to respond to any messages and very helpful providing directions and pointers on places to eat etc. Lovely weekend!!

  • I was attending a wedding and this cottage was the perfect location. A gorgeous cottage, very clean, everything you needed was there. Very comfortable bed, nice spacious lounge and good sized kitchen. Good internet access as well. Sarah, the host, was great at responding to questions quickly and clearly. Good directions given and easy to get into the cottage. I had a lovely stay here and would recommend it to anyone visiting the Coxwold area. Thank you!

  • We had a wonderful week at Sarah's lovely cottage in Coxwold. The cottage itself was perfect for the 2 of us, with everything we could have needed. The bed and linens were so comfy and we made good use of the log fire. We were rather lazy but ventured out to visit Hutton Le Hole (prettiest village in Yorkshire with some nice tea rooms) and look around Thirsk, which had some great little shops to poke about in. We were so relaxed here and the village of Coxwold is very charming, with a very pretty church and nice countryside walks. The check in couldn't have been easier and everything was perfect. Thank you.

Pendale House is situated on a quiet village road. The ground floor comprises a spacious dining kitchen and attached utility room flowing through to a living room (which has a wood burning stove) opening onto a secluded garden backing onto farmland.
A family 'snug' and house WC complete the ground floor. On the first floor there is a spacious master bedroom with a super king bed and a full en suite with a walk-in shower and bath. Two further spacious double bedrooms with full en suites and walk-in showers.j
Ideally located for a touring base Huby has two pub/restaurants; a fish n' chip shop and a general store/post office. Historic York is 10 miles with an hourly bus service; the Moors National Park, the North Sea Coast, the Dales National Park are all within easy reach.
  • It is a lovely house, beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you could possibly need, and more. Pretty village in an excellent location close to York and the best of North Yorkshire.

  • We had a lovely time in the spacious and very comfortable new house of Mike and Carole. There was plenty of room for our family of five. The children loved it to have their own (B&B) rooms with own tv, shower and toilet. It is nice to sit around the large kitchen table in the cosy kitchen. Everything is there to prepare meals. Huby is a quiet place and an excellent base to make trips to the coast, York, and Moors National Park. Carole and Mike gave as a warm welcome when we arrived. We thank them for their hospitality.

  • Carole and Mike were excellent hosts and made the process very easy. We enjoyed a lovely week in a real home from home - everything we needed was provided. I would recommend buying a York Pass if you are going to sight see as these proved great value for money including Castle Howard, the steam railway as well as The Minster and museums in York.
