Holiday Rentals in Grant Grove Village

Just booked in Grant Grove Village

You are in serenity to settle your breath and your heart. Ten minutes away is a fork into Sequoia or Kings Canyon (must see) National Park. Both provide the Giant Trees, caves, varieties of hikes and fishing locations. Or simply a walk from the cabin
As given by guests, a five star property for a good reason and a great place to stay. The cabin is as described, and the bonus is an amazing western view from the mountains. Sitting comfortably on the deck provides a beautiful arrangement of colors in the setting sun. Set on a mountain slope, the cabin at 4200 ft looking out into the westward terrain. You want peace and quiet: a road less traveled passes the cabin and for the early riser, get a cup of coffee and enjoy yourself on the deck or take a nice walk on a road less traveled (Hogback Rd.) for a scenic view. Fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. When you arrive late and hungry and tired, there is a Belgium waffle maker on the kitchen counter. In the pantry under the stairway, there is waffle mix [THERE IS OIL BUT NEED EGGS] and syrup. In the refrigerator, there are sticks of butter and various condiments. Mixing bowls, spatulas, utensils, and plates are provided in the kitchen drawers and cupboards. And of course the necessary can opener and a crockpot. In addition, on the back porch, is a three burner propane barbecue. I sear various red meat, turning both sides at least twice to get grill marks. Then I put the meat on a cookie sheet over a low fire above the middle burner. The outer burners produce the high indirect heat. Helps to clean for the next Grill Master. [Costco has great tri tip roast. Remember to marinate the roast and other meats over night. Yummy] There is no Starbucks. No worries though! There is a Keurig waiting for you who can't survive without coffee. If you desire a cup of coffee, there is a Keurig on the counter with coffee pods and creamers in the drawer below. Those of you who brought your favorite coffee beans, just look in the cupboard to the right of the sink. A quick look to find a grinder and a French Press. Also, on the counter, is a electric teapot for the hot water. Let’s not leave out other necessary wishes: WIFI and VCR. There is already a collection of DVDs. This is a cozy cabin, well-equipped and well maintained. It is very private and cozy, so perfect for your vacation. You will enjoy sunset and color changes in the sky so beautiful and the night skies are also amazing. The front yard is big enough to play ball, and you should even bring and set up badminton net and play. The cabin provides comfortable beds with comforters, multiple pillows, nice linen and nice towels after a hot shower or enjoying a bubble bath. There is a laundry hamper in the upstairs bathroom and the downstairs closet across from the pantry. (Please put used linen and towels in the hampers at the end of your visit) If you are looking for additional trash bags, on the dining table side of the stove counter, there is a low level storage door containing trash bags. Outside, inside the fence, are two sanitation containers for trash and recycle. Thank you for using them. We look forward to suggestions that would enhance your experience.
  • This visit was just fantastic. The place is very clean. The bed is comfortable. The deck is so beautiful at night so many stars. Thanks to Michael for a great stay

  • Fantastic communication, the location is absolutely beautiful. The house is stocked with essentials and offers an amazing view. Proper cozy. Winter or summer would be fantastic here. Can't recommend enough. Five stars!

  • It's a great place in a great location

  • The house is exactly as advertised - incredibly peaceful and quiet. There is a fine view of the setting sun from the balcony and a forest behind the house. We were sad to leave. Thoroughly recommended

  • A peaceful remote cabin -high- in the mountains. 15 min - 11 km from the entrance of entrance of the parks. Although we did not meet up with the owner Michael (works with a lock-box & pin code you will receive by email) really seems like a nice, warm honest person. for instance, when we arrived the house wasn't that clean (since the housekeeper was in the hospital), now after we informed Michael about that, he instantly -without us asking- refunded cleaning costs. Nice gesture. Michael is working on a communication form for visitors that will include practical info (house, environment,...). Because there is NO cell phone reach, NOR internet access and thus it's impossible to communicate by email for receiving instructions. Not even in the entire region since it's so remote. Be aware that you might encounter Tarantula's on the roads to the cabin in the mountains. We saw many. Not in the house though ;-). Also be prepared for many many turns when driving! Many bents. Great views thoughs these high sierra regions offer. I recommend the place.

  • It is a wonderful and peaceful place, the house is tugged away in the woods, all quiet and very close to the national parks! It is a great base to go on hikes and explore the area. The house is clean, spacious and very very comfy, and it is wonderful to fall asleep with nothing but the sound of crickets. There are books (a small one about day hikes in the area was very useful); and also a tv, dvds and a fireplace - we didnt use either as it was summer and we rather were out enjoying the nature. Michael's advice about going shopping beforehand is valid though; there is a small shop in the national park and a diner close by the house, but it is really nicer to bring healthy ingredients and make use of the well-equipped kitchen.

  • Great Home in a secluded area with ALL of the amenities! Michael thought of all the little things that made our stay great. I would go back in a heartbeat!

  • This was my very first time renting out an Airbnb. I would like to give a shoutout to Michael for being my first host and for being such a wonderful person! He was very accommodating and was very fair and understanding. He provided so much information and planned out our entire road trip from UC Irvine all the way to the airbnb location! He definitely goes the extra mile to make sure that everything is okay and that you have all the information/resources that you need. Our organization was holding our board retreat here and we all had a wonderful time! The place gave us so many nostalgic moments. From board games, puzzle pieces, DVD movies, all the way to having a fire place to sit in front of and stay warm. The place is exactly like the pictures. It is a very small and cozy place. It really does feel like home when you walk in it. However, I do have to admit that if it was not for my GPS I would have definitely been lost because the house is after a turn on a curved road. My tips for everyone: -When Michael gives you the code for the lock, please write the code down. There is no wifi / signal in this area so if you do not save the code he gives you.. you will have to drive down the mountain to get the code.. -Bring $30 if you plan to enter Sequoia! The ticket will last you 7 days! Hiking trails: -We went on sunset trail and ella falls in kings canyon in Sequoia (2.8 miles). It took us about 1.5-2 hours to complete the trial. The hike could go in a loop and extend up to 8 miles if you really wanted to but we only went to the falls and turned back. The halfway point is at a 3 way cross section! There are 2 waterfalls to choose from. -The drive took us about 26 minutes to get there and the hiking trail is across from the visitor center! You can just park there and start hiking.

Stay inside Kings Canyon National Park! Rent a room in my cabin, located within the park. I'm 5 minutes from Grant Grove Village and giant sequoia trees, and 45 minutes from Sequoia NP. **Please** read my entire listing and house rules before booking. My place is rustic. No kitchen access. A max of 2 guests total, including children. A 10% county tax must be collected on arrival. No male solo travelers. Please don't book for other people.
My space is a room inside a historic cabin on private property located INSIDE Kings Canyon National Park. This is a rustic cabin in the woods. My room is set up a like a hotel room. There is a bed, side table, chairs, mini fridge, and coffee maker. The room is attached to a private porch. It's a small space and is not set up for preparing meals. You may eat in the room, but there's not a place to wash dishes. There's no kitchen access, but there's a restaurant nearby.
There is a small market, restaurant, post office, and park visitor center 5 minutes away in Grant Grove Village. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is a 45-minute drive to Sequoia National Park, a 1-hour drive to the bottom of Kings Canyon (Cedar Grove), and a 20-minute drive to Hume Lake.
  • Kristi's place is amazing. I would LOVE to come back. She is a sweet host who made our stay as enjoyable as possible. Her cabin is the best- perfect location right under the stars and the perfect distance to all the fun trails in the park.

  • I was just passing through Sequoia so i only stayed here one night, but I am glad I found this gem! Definitely one of my favorite airbnbs. Beautiful location, kristinis a great host, very helpful and easy to communicate with. She creates your own little space with a patio, grill, minifridge & microwave. Im excited to plan another trip to Sequoia and I am definitely booking this room again!

  • Kristi is a perfect hostess. Her description of the accommodations is accurate and we had great communications before and during our stay. You simply can't beat the location. In addition to National Parks, the Sequoia National Forest is also a fantastic place to visit.

  • Kristi has a lovely home located within Kings Canyon National Park. Everything was pretty much as described and the cabin was easy to find. It is definitely worth it to stay inside the park, and we would stay here again if in the area.

  • Kristi's cabin is the perfect setting for travelers exploring the parks. It was awesome to start our day just a couple of minutes from Grant Village (to get supplies for the day) and the Grant Tree. We were well rested after a quiet and comfortable night at Kristi's place. A great Airbnb experience!

  • Kristi was very welcoming and generous! The place was clean, homey, and in an ideal location for both parks!

  • The accommodation is very close to Grant Grove visitor center, nice restaurant and park attractions. Host was extremely friendly and helpful in recommending things to do and see in park. We particularly liked the quiet space and use of porch deck for relaxation. Surroundings very peaceful. We saw herds of deer close to cabin. The room is meticulously clean and tastefully decorated. We most certainly would return!

  • Kristi is an excellent, 5 star hostess! Great communication, gracious willingness to provide information, and a beautiful, peaceful location. We truly enjoyed staying with her and wished we could have spent more than one night, but it was just a short trip this time.

Quiet, cozy, inspiring, art-filled: fivespot is a relaxing destination for a week or weekend. Perfect for couples or small families, you'll enjoy the sauna and outdoor shower, claw-foot bathtub, and fireplace. Just light a match and enjoy!
Fivespot is just 15 minutes to Kings Canyon - Sequoia National Park in California's spectacular Sierra Nevada. Giant sequoia trees, jaw-dropping Kings Canyon, High Sierra hikes: all yours without the crowds you'd find in Yosemite. The cabin: cute, homey, comfortable, wi-fi, classic book collection, fireplace, sauna, artful tilework, outdoor shower, covered patio, hummingbird feeders, fresh flowers, a quirky, international knick-knack collection, full kitchen, BBQ, laundry. Built in the 1940s, it was completely renovated in 2008. Although fivespot is most definitely a mountain retreat - it's one hour to the nearest grocery store, one-half hour to the nearest gas station - you won't be alone. We live in the house next door (although your privacy is assured) and can give advice on the best Park trails and experiences. We lived in New York City for many years and know how valuable it is to tap into local expertise, so you can get the most out of your vacation. And you won't be roughing it at fivespot. It's a clean, comfortable, delightful place that induces a calm and quiet state in almost every guest!
Fivespot is located in Pinehurst, what I would call a settlement more than a town. Mostly there are cabins tucked in and around the slopes and forest. But just down the road from fivespot is "downtown" Pinehurst: five little cabins right next to each other, and across from the social nexus of the neighborhood, the Pinehurst Lodge. It's fun to walk down the "the Lodge" or "the Pinehurst" (as the locals say), have a beer, eat dinner, get milk or eggs from the tiny store, watch whatever's on the TV, play tunes on the jukebox (or on the ancient piano), or play pool. There's a deck in the back, a giant fireplace, and an old bar. This building started out as a sawmill in the early 20th century, but has been a restaurant or bar for decades.
  • What a beautiful retreat!! We spent 7 nights at this lovely, eclectic cabin and wish we could have stayed longer. Such a unique, artsy oasis in this truly awe- inspiring place of the Sierra Nevada's, Sequoia's and Kings Canyon. We sat outside on the inviting covered sanctuary each morning with our coffee & enjoyed the abundance of wildlife, fresh mountain air, & quiet..except for the birds, quail, & in the starry evenings, listening to the owls. Very comfortable and cozy with all the amenities from home that you would need. We enjoyed choosing from the many books in the cabin & all the nuances like the artistic chalkboard wall & eclectic coffee table & chairs and the art on the walls. Lovely to meet one of our host Mahalia, who was so accommodating & thoughtful ...thinking of everything including fresh flowers scattered throughout. We hope to meet Buchran on our next visit back. We also enjoyed Pinehurst Lodge for lunch & suppers just down the road....less than a mile. The food was great, reasonable & the people were very friendly & warm. As conveniently located to the entrances of the parks as you could be on the winding roads. We promised ourselves to come back as it was renewing for body, mind, & spirit. Thank you for creating such a wonderful haven for folks to come & get away from the hectic pace of life and to reconnect & enjoy nature, hike, read, relax!!! Loved it!!! Lance & Stacy

  • It was an exceptional stay, we really enjoyed our time at this place and we'll definitely return some time in future

  • Our stay at fivespot was really lovely! Mahalia was a kind and thoughtful host, the premises were beautiful, and the cabin was super cozy. The location couldn't be more convenient to the King's Canyon and Sequoia parks entrance, the main attraction on our trip. Of course, this means the cabin is on a lonely mountain in the middle of nowhere, so you should expect some normal problems that have been addressed in other reviews as well - not much to be said for my AT&T cell service, and the well water system does the job but doesn't work like a city's system. The main bed isn't very soft, but shouldn't be a problem unless you have pre-existing back issues that become aggravated by a day's hike (like my partner!). Overall, these issues were super minor, and fully outweighed by the cabin's many amenities - sauna, outdoor grill and seating, indoor fireplace with pre-stacked wood from the hosts, overflowing bookcases, playful knickknacks, and a *completely* stocked kitchen and bathroom. Like, 5 different flavors of jam in the fridge stocked. We were only at fivespot for a three-day weekend, but could have easily spent a week or more! Definitely recommend a stay. Thank you Mahalia!

  • Mahalia's place was ideal for a vacation. It is located a few miles from Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon. We had the opportunity to hike in both parks and take some amazing pictures.

  • Had a wonderful stay in five spot cabin amongst the trees and close to the beautiful Kings Canyon. What a way to spend Christmas! Thank you very much

  • A great place in a beautiful setting! A fully equipped cabin with comfortable kitchen and bathroom, separate bedroom and a very cozy patio/garden. Mahalia and Bachrun are lovely hosts, very friendly and helpful when you approach them but otherwise letting you have your privacy. We liked it a lot and hope to come again for a longer stay! Laura and Martin, Switzerland

  • We had a fantastic time in Fivespot cabin - we wished we could have stayed longer (or actually lived there)!  The cabin itself is perfectly formed. We had no problems at all cooking, in fact the cabin is stocked with so many little helpful cooking items that if you forget one ingredient it's probably there - I think this is an added luxury to have things like Heinz Ketchup or different herbs available to use as all the other cabins we've stayed in have had nothing... Not even sugar! The bed was comfortable and we slept very well, the log fire in the open plan lounge was cosy, the sauna perfect after a long days walk and the bathroom was beautiful. Lastly I feel I should mention how beautifully decorated the whole place is this really makes the whole experience extra enjoyable as you feel so homely and cost. We kind of hoped it would have rained or snowed so we could've stayed in the cabin all day instead of hiking. There are plenty of books to read and board games to play. Finally the cabin itself is in a good location for exploring Kings Canyon National Park. It's about a 15 minute drive to the park entrance on highway 180.

  • This is the perfect secluded retreat for retiring to after a long day hiking in the Sequioa and Kings Canyon National Parks. My husband and I were so happy with not only how cozy it was, but how clean the entire home was AND how accommodating the amenities were. We would be back without a second thought!

Two bedrooms, one bath. And a tiny bedroom for fun. Full kitchen, cozy living room. Laundry. BBQ. Garden patio. Only 20 minutes to Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park. Or stick close to the cabin all day and have a real vacation. Find your here here.
  • Amazing location, close to the National Parks! Very nice get away location

  • We loved staying at this funky cabin while we were in the area for a wedding. It was cozy and homey. As a parent of a toddler, I was happy that the cabin is fairy easy to baby-proof (or if not baby-proof, at least be "baby-resistant.") Mahalia, the host, was easily reachable via the messaging feature in the Airbnb app, even though she was on a distant vacation. (I should note, there were no issues, I simply had a question prior to check in, and a message post-check out.).

  • Merrynook is a really cute cabin and very convenient to Sequoia National Park! We had a great experience. Mahalia was very welcoming and called when we arrived to see if we needed anything.

  • The house was very welcoming neat and tidy. The owner was very friendly accommodating. All in all a perfect holiday getaway.

  • Very nice, clean, well-maintained and well-equipped cabin. Highly recommended if you are visiting Kings Canyon.

  • Fun space!

  • The Merrynook cabin is absolutely wonderful and convenient for a Kings Canyon/Sequoia NP visit. Mahalia was not present during my stay (it was just my girlfriend and I) but she left us everything we needed on the kitchen table, which was great. The cabin itself is very clean and well-kept. It isn't a large place by any means but even with 7 people, I don't think there would be an issues regarding space (except for the fact that there's only one bathroom). There is a clean and fully stocked kitchen, which I wish I had made more use of! The bathroom had everything we needed: extra towels, a bathtub with bath salts available, a very clean and modern shower, plenty of lighting, and a clean toilet. The only downside is that the water takes a little bit of time to heat up. The cabin itself is very well ventilated; it was around 35-40 degrees at night and in the morning but I was walking around comfortably in shorts and a t-shirt. The best part, in my opinion, was the super comfortable bed I slept on. Nothing beats a long day exploring and then sleeping comfortably in a great bed. All in all, I highly recommend this cabin! I was able to knock out both NP's in a weekend because of the convenient location. I will definitely be coming back here with my family next year.

  • Very cute and clean cabin near Kings Canyon NP. We had a great time, thank you!
